Chapter 149 The Truth

"Though I don't think he would agree to get tested." Arlan chuckled meaningfully.

The commanding general was still processing the information he received. He never thought that the president was actually involved with the largest criminal organization in Maharlika.

Lieutenant General Rivera raised his head and stared straight into Arlan's eyes. "What do you want from me? I don't think you're here just to tell me this." He felt that Arlan had a motive for showing him this sensitive information.

Arlan smiled at him. "General, I've already shown my sincerity. I hope that you won't interfere in the affairs of my people."

The commanding general frowned. "Mr. Roa, leave the rest to us. You shouldn't overstep your bounds. I will pretend that you are not involved with the destruction of NPA's main base on account of the information you provided."

"General, we both know that you wouldn't be able to do anything to the president even with all the evidence I gave you. He might even try to escape the country once this matter is exposed." Arlan was deeply aware of the power of the Maracas Family. Winter gave him a lot of information about the rise of their family. They were only an ordinary family back then, but they grew into a billion-dollar family in just a few decades.

Lieutenant General Rivera turned silent upon hearing his words, but he still shook his head after a moment of thought. "Mr. Roa, I will turn a blind eye to your military activities, but I won't be lenient next time. If you harm the civilians, I will deal with you myself." He warned with a stern voice.

Arlan merely smiled at his words. "General, you think you can handle the president alone?" He shook his head in amusement.

Lieutenant General Rivera glared at him before he left with his subordinates. "I'm taking these captives with me." The commanding general asked his subordinates to take the leaders of the rebel force.

"Boss, do you want us to stop them?" Cedrick didn't want to go against his former commander, but he had already given his loyalty to Arlan.

Arlan shook his head. "There's no need for that. Winter already predicted that this would happen. Let's just wait for the commanding general to fail. He will come to us on his own accord."

Cedrick was surprised to hear this. 'Miss Winter is truly impressive!' He thought to himself.

"Let's return to the mansion!" Arlan shouted.

"General, can we trust this information? This matter is too complicated. It will cause unrest in the country if this is exposed."

Lieutenant General Rivera rubbed his temples. "Arlan Dominic Roa is no simple person. To think that he actually has the power to destroy the main base of the NPA. I don't think the information he provided is fabricated, but we have to make our own investigation before we take action." He felt extreme rage when he learned about the president's true nature. From the information they got, the president was also involved in the NPA. He sent a middleman to negotiate with the rebels to kidnap Senator Manuel Chavez's son. The president must have done this since the Senator was planning to run for vice president.

The president was planning to eliminate the Senator to pave the way for his relative who would also run for vice president in the next election!

Lieutenant General Rivera's heart turned cold as he thought of this.

"Yes, General!"

The next day, the commanding general paid a visit to the president in the Malacañang Palace.

"Good morning, Mr. President!" The commanding general saluted.

President Maracas gently smiled at him as he pointed at the seat in front of his desk. "There's no need for formalities, General. Please take a seat."

"Thank you." Lieutenant General Rivera took his seat and faced the president calmly.

"What brings you here in the palace so early in the morning, General?" President Maracas chuckled as he pushed the documents on his desk to the side.

"Mr. President, I believe you've heard about the destruction of the NPA's main base." The commanding general observed the president's expression.

The President's face suddenly turned serious as he nodded his head. "Is there something you want to tell me about this incident?" He asked in a low voice.

"I sent our best soldiers to do this task and we managed to capture their leaders during the mission." The commanding general knew that this was quite risky, but he wanted to see how the president would react in this situation.

"You sent our soldiers to battle without informing me beforehand?" President Maracas' tone changed all of a sudden.

"Mr. President, it was a rare opportunity for us! They might have escaped if we hadn't attacked them at that time. I gave the order so I will take responsibility for that." The commanding general replied.

A flash of rage flickered in the president's eyes, but it quickly vanished. He smiled at the commanding general and said. "There's no need to be nervous. You did a great job in capturing the leaders of the rebels, but I hope that you will inform me about such matters before you take action, General."

"Yes, Mr. President! I will give you a detailed report about the mission soon. Please excuse me." The commanding general saluted before he left the president's office.

After he left, President Maracas slammed the desk with a furious look on his face. "Dammit! How dare that old bastard challenge my authority?!" He cursed under his breath.

He wasn't worried that the commanding general would get any information from the rebel leaders that would lead to him. However, he felt that something was wrong. "I have to kill those bastards before they reveal anything unnecessary!" He muttered through gritted teeth.

He grabbed his phone and dialed a number.

"Hello, Mr. President! It's been a long time since you last called me." A familiar voice echoed on the other line. If Fabian was here, he would be able to identify this person.

"I want you to kill some people for me..."
