Chapter 229: Breathing His Last (1)
Chapter 229: Breathing His Last (1)
The chief brought Rong Yi to Banyue Peak. He first asked Rong Yi to wait in the hall and then went inside to ask his wife about what was going on.
Rong Yi stared at the closed gate, brows furrowed. He didn’t think the chief could convince his wife to let him go. Besides, since the lady framed him under the daylight, it meant that she had already been prepared to convince the chief.
As the chief went into the bedroom, his wife was penciling his eyebrows. So he asked the disciple waiting on her out and didn’t question her until she put down her eyebrow pencil, “Yinrong, you know I have taken in Rong Yi as my disciple, why did you frame him for breaking into the forbidden area and imprison him without letting me know? And you even let Yueyao bring people to insult him?”
Actually what made him most upset was that his wife always made decisions without talking with him. She always disregarded the chief’s dignity.
Now Shao Yinrong didn’t put his anger in her eyes at all. She said casually while inserting that beautiful butterfly hairpin in chignon, “Yanrui, that’s only a minor disciple. What is this about? Do you need to be mad at me? I remember you used to hate him for ruining the reputation of our sect and wished to expel him. Isn’t what I did exactly what you wanted?”
The chief darkened his face, “Now he is no longer a common disciple. He owns the rare mutant Thunder-fire Spiritual Root. Though he might be over ten years later than others in cultivation, he could still surpass most of my disciples in a short time. As long I teach him patiently, maybe he could...”
Before he finished his words, Shao Yinrong smiled lightly and interrupted him, “Now there is only the two of us here. You don’t have to say those altisonant words. Having been married with you for so many years, do you think I have no idea what you are thinking? You speak for him now not because he owns mutant Thunder-fire Spiritual Root, but some other reasons, like he can refine enchanted runes. You are just worried he might now sell them to you, like he would not sell a single one to Shao Family and those who are close with them, right?”
The chief, “...”
Shao Yinrong looked at her face in the bronze mirror, quite satisfied with the makeup, “I have seen one a disciple bought. Really not bad. Maybe he has the ability to make our sect strong. But his heart is not in here. After he got tested to own the spiritual root, he neither came back for further cultivation nor supplied us with some enchanted runes for free. He thought that since he got that unique skill, we all have to suck him up. Even Shao Family got elbowed out by the whole sect because of him. You are the chief of the number one sect of Zhonghai Prefecture! You can not let him lead you by the nose!”
The chief narrowed his eyes, “So you are speaking for Shao Family?”
Shao Yinrong slightly snorted, “Shao Family is just some distant relatives of mine. I don’t have the heart and time to defend them. But Rong Yi told people that he wouldn’t sell a single rune to Shao Family before so many people, which equals to say that he doesn’t put you the chief and I in his eyes at all. Anyway, Shao Family is still a bit related to me. We invited Shao Family to cultivate here. You can’t erase what Shao Family has done for the sect only for some silly enchanted runes.”
The chief, “...”
Shao Yinrong got up and continued, “This time I set him up for three reasons. First, to get even for our granddaughter Yueyao, and our great grandson Jin Tong, anyway he got his dantian ruined because of Rong Yi and his son. As the chief and the lady of the sect, we can’t just take it. I don’t care what others think. I can never let my own family get bullied. Second, Rong Yi is too arrogant recently. No one in the sect doesn’t want to try all means to fawn on him. If we don’t suppress him now, the surname of Nine Void Sect may no longer be Jin, but Rong!”
The chief sneered, “You overthink things.”
He thought he usually had a good judge of one’s characters. Rong Yi had no such ambition. Besides, he didn’t get along with Rong Family. Even if Rong Family wanted this position, he would be the last one to lend a hand.
“But it’s better than thinking nothing.” While saying so, Shao Yinrong took out a letter out of her storage ring and handed it to the chief, “This is the third reason why I imprisoned Rong Yi, and the most important one.”
Seeing the stamp of Shao Family from Dongtang Prefecture, the chief was surprised, “A letter from Shao Family? What does it have anything to do with Rong Yi?”
“You read it yourself and will know why.” Shao Yinrong then sat before the table and poured two cups of tea for herself and the chief.
The chief quickly leafed through it. The letter was from Shao Yinrong’s father, the master of Shao Family. The letter said that Shao Family had been suppressed by Yin Family recently, only because they got Rong Yi who had Nine Void Sect as his back. If things kept going on like this, Shao Family would be extinct.
At last it said Nine Void Sect shouldn’t speak for Rong Yi, instead, they should give Rong Yi some pressure, or maybe have his back to the wall.
The chief put down the letter with disbelief, “Yin Family? You mean Yin Family from Dongtang Prefecture want to deal with Rong Yi? Isn’t it easy to get rid of someone at his Qi Practicing? They can just send someone to end him. Why make it so complicated?”
Shao Family had helped Nine Void Sect for so many times, and the Sect really owed them big. If they asked him to be hard on Rong Yi, he really had no excuse to say no.
