Chapter 80 - Behind The Bush
Ellena happily cut the meat into pieces. Then the remaining meat was stored in her [Inventory].
After having the meat to cook, she remained silent for a moment and looked at the meat for about a minute.
When I noticed it, I immediately asked her as it was bothering me for a brief moment. She looks like a child who dropped her ice cream.
"What's wrong?"
"The meat... I can't cook it since I don't know how to make a fire. I don't know how to use basic magic," she said in a worried and defeated tone.
So that was her problem. It was truly a problem since she doesn't know how to make a fire. She also didn't study how to use basic magic in her studies back in the mansion.
What a pain... However, it's not a problem anymore. She has another way to create a fire and it was her lightning ability.
"You know... You can create a fire from a spark." I said with an intriguing tone.
She raised her eyebrow after hearing it. Well, it's reasonable since this world doesn't really hold on to science that's why this kind of knowledge is something unheard of in common.
This is the primitive way of making fire with a touch of modernity from Earth. Almost deemed as witchcraft, but it really isn't that amazing to be shocked from seeing it. Though modernity was just a useless adjective for this matter since there's really no modernity here. It's just an application of knowledge.
"So how do I start a fire?" she asked after hanging the meat to continue to drain.
"Well, first gather some twigs. Thinnest if possible. And it would be great if you could find some dried leaves to add up the fuel. Then prepare some woods for the main fuel." I said with my eyes closing and hands in a cross.
Wow... this feels amazing. Imagine the knowledge I have that meets with the archaic. I could become a scholar or even another figure here. However, I don't really like those things... Just a little cool vibe, I guess.
Ellena started moving and collected some twigs, but on the way, she paused and turned her head facing me.
"What's the matter?" I asked.
"You can touch things, right? Why can't you help me? I'm really hungry right now."
"Oh. Sorry."
It wasn't my idea to not help her. It just didn't pop out in my head.
"I'll start picking up some twigs," I said before leaving her.
I couldn't help but shook my head. Ellena... she's starting to know how to use time properly, huh. If I tell her the important destiny she should walk on, will she use the time to gather points instead of pitying over little things?
I started picking twigs and gather them at Ellena's place. When we're finally done, I assisted her with lighting a fire.
I can't teach her the basic magic since I don't know it. But if it's other knowledge, I could offer everything in my power.
"So, what should I do first?" she asked.
"Produce a little spark in your finger and try to make it sparkly."
"Hm..."
Ellena started forming sparking electricity on her palm. Then, she started controlling it to her index finger where the concentrated electricity started to become sparkier.
A few seconds later, smoke started to appear and the twigs started to redden. Slowly, a fire appeared and it overjoyed her to the core.
"Look! Look! Aaron! I made a fire! It's amazing!" she exclaimed in joy while blowing the fire to grow more.
I couldn't help but smile witnessing her joy. It seems like she's really enjoying it and looking at her makes me feel proud father.
"Yes... Very good, Ellena!" I said making her smile more.
Her eyes were almost closing as the smile reaches her ears.
"You're smart, Aaron!" she said and I can't help but feel embarrassed.
"Yes, I am! I am one of the smartest persons in my world so be honored!" I jokingly lifted my chest while gazing down at her.
Hahaha... This is amazing...
***
After enjoying her meal, Ellena fell asleep.
We just played for a short time that made her felt tired. Therefore, I let her sleep while I guard her against threats.
I couldn't do much really. Just guarding her and I will wake her up when something is happening.
The night was just starting but I can hear crickets sound. The forest air seems to be cold as droplets are forming in one's plant's leaf.
Thankfully, no monsters are going around her location this time. I can let Ellena enjoy her rest for a while. She deserves it.
A few hours later, I heard a brushing sound that might come from a bush. Thus, I approached it to see if there's something behind it. But before I could, I already noticed the thing behind it.
Actually, it wasn't a thing but a human. What's he doing there?
As I observe him, he appears to be near his twenties and his outfit is just an average adventuring garment. He also appears to be looking at something so I followed his eyes and saw that he was looking at Ellena.
This bastard! What's he planning to do to Ellena?!
However, unfortunate for him. He was already noticed so I will just wake Ellena up.
"Ellena... There's someone here. Wake up!" I exclaimed but I don't feel agitated at the moment. Rather, I was rushing her so I can see this bastard beaten and spill what's his plan.
Ellena already woke up but I think she already knows what I'm scheming. Our connection seems to be working well that our interests are linking up.
I could only release a smirk while the bastard was also making one.
What's inside his brain?
He was still looking at Ellena who was peacefully sleeping in his eyes. Too bad for him, Ellena's already awake.
"This one is what they call "The Masked Monster?"" he mumbled.
He prepared a dagger at his side and his right hand's rune glowed.
"He's using his ability! But I don't know what's his ability. Be careful Ellena, he might be a high-ranking rune owner." I said it's important to overestimate your opponent rather than underestimating them.
'I get it. I will activate my Pressure Aura.' she replied before her rune glowed.
The bastard widens his eyes when he saw Ellena's rune glowing but when he looked at her again, she wasn't moving.
His eyes filled with pondering. "Is she dreaming! Hahaha... This might be easy for me since she's sleeping deeply.
He slowly approached Ellena but little did he know, his ability was weakened at this moment. Whatever ability he has, I will surely let him regret that he was planning something bad for her.
Before he could reach Ellena, I kicked his eyes and flew lower to his crotch, and kicked his worm pet.
His eyes widened and groaned from the pain he received. His other eyes closed extremely from the kicked I sent to him.
When his voice started to be heard to Ellena, she opened her eyes and shoot a flash of lightning to his legs, paralyzing them.
He was surprised at what happened next. I think he didn't anticipate that Ellena was preparing herself. Or I should say that he was an idiot that when he saw Ellena's rune glow, he immediately thought that she was dreaming.
Oh... This is going to be a hectic job.. What's his problem with Ellena that he wanted to harm her.
