I Became A System

Chapter 145 - Ellena Versus Verxal

Finally, the day has come for Ellena and Verxal's fight. Now that another phase must commence, I can't wait to attack that individual who wanted to kill Ellena.

Of course, I am not thinking that he was just a simple person. Furthermore, I think of him as someone who does have to power to be an obstacle on Ellena's path.

Nevertheless, he can't defeat Ellena with mere tricks and ambush.

We are now on our way to the sports arena of Phlabian City. People also started to gather up and waited to witness the fight between a mysterious adventurer and the most famous adventurer from the landlord's family, Verxal.

I bet there are some bets ongoing. Maybe they are all on a bet to Verxal. However, we don't care about that things. We only have to put some play that Ellena, or should I say The Masked Monster is not someone you can just trample.

Ellena prepared her gears. We are now in the dressing room where we secretly entered because of the wave of the people outside. They are maybe wanting to peek into Ellena's real identity.

I care less enough. They are just reporters. Well, reporters exist, but I think I should give them the appropriate terminology. Intel and some gossipers. That's in between those two.

As usual, Ellena wore her dark gears and her cloth masked. I must say, Ellena, should have a solid and formed mask. It is important since her facial feature would be less open to the public.

I put my hands on my chin as if grooming my invisible beard. Ellena seems to be a perfect ninja right now. Her sword was on her back instead of her side. She was fiercely prepared.

"You look cool, Master." Rosellete complimented Ellena out of nowhere.

Ellena just awkwardly scratch her nape and nodded. "Thanks."

"Big Sister, good luck. I hope you win."

"Eehhh! Why do you think that way, Thalia?! Of course, Ellena would win." Selena retorted.

"I don't think of underestimating, Big Sister, but I just want to be practical. I searched for information about Verxal after we had gone to their house. And it turned out, his party is the strongest here and he's also the leader of it."

"What are you trying to say, Thalia?"

"What I mean-"

Ellena couldn't handle the heat and cut in between the two. "Calm down. I know my shortcomings so thank you, Thalia. And Selena, thank you for your cheerful words but I don't need to win."

"I just need to put a play so that I can be promoted to White Gold."

All of them nodded and just sighed.

"I'm sorry, Big Sister."

"Yeah. We were all tensed right now, that even more tensed than you. Good luck!"

"Yeah." Ellena nodded to them and just see them leave the room as a staff entered the room to prepare Ellena.

Ellena followed the words of the staff and followed her to the stadium.

Cheers and the anticipating audience filled the arena. Their eyes, all of them were burning. Some are crazy for a fight, but some were just curious. In reality, there are not plenty of people inside the arena that could fill the arena full.

This fight of The Masked Monster and Verxal was merely an adventurers' guild entertainment match. It wasn't crazy as such that it would become a tournament or an official match for a title. There are no such things. This is a test for The Masked Monster.

There are no complaints about it. Or they were not brave enough to complain about it.

Noelle was an interesting rookie for the veterans but hideous to the lower-rankers. The reason? It's because of the stories of those who were defeated by her in the practical test for promotion to silver rank.

It was a petty action, indeed. But no one even thought of pointing out the ridiculousness of it. Instead, they even used that story to mock Noelle.

But for Noelle or the real individual behind that persona, Ellena, was just shrugging it off. It was even beneficial for her since she can collect many points. She could even just thank that there are fewer arrogant people in higher ranks.

Well, not actually that there were no arrogant, there were fewer. And the reason she was thankful is that she doesn't need to be bothered by them.

She already knew the scale of jealousy. She even handled one when she was in Gustav City. And from what she can gauge about it, it harbors chaos.

When Ellena started to appear in the arena with her cover and gears, everyone cheered. They were filled with mockery but also filled with pure praises. Some were booing her, but some are cheering for her.

Ellena just waved at them and waited for Verxal to enter the arena as well. When Verxal finally entered the arena, everyone became silent for a second, and as he smiled, everyone shouted and cheered like an explosion.

The row of young women was notable that some of the young men could be seen with disdaining eyes.

Nevertheless, the fight started within a minute after the referee announced it.

Ellena took out her sword and moved her body towards Verxal. She slightly activated her Perceiving Eyes to gauge his proficiency and was baffled when she saw it was 75%.

It was her first time seeing someone who had this high percentage. But despite it, she didn't back off and just mightly carried her sword to her side.

Verxal doesn't want to be late, and as well, he prepared his swords.

"Why are you so excited, Ellena? Do you have something to do after this that's why you're making it end immediately?" Verxal commented as he noticed that Ellena was being impatient. But Ellena just shrugged and ignored his words.

Her sword was bombarded with Verxal's and they exchanged some attacks. And on the way, Ellena easily defended herself from those attacks.

Verxal noticed that Ellena was really impatient, so he decided to see the future. When he saw that Ellena used some lightning magic, he smirked.

"You didn't tell me that you use lightning," he said.

Ellena just scoffed and shook his head.

"How did you know? Do you have some foreseeing ability or you can see what's my ability... Ah. Never mind, I think you have some foreseeing ability."

Verxal was surprised that Ellena hit speculation. Indeed, Verxal can see some of the future, but it wasn't his only ability. His ability was to see things in any way, even they are covered with things.

And of course, he doesn't use his ability for perverted matters. Instead, he uses it to track and see the attack coming to him.

Ellena was sure that Verxal's eyes were limited. Verxal can't see her actual ability and might be impossible because he mentioned lightning. If he knew her true ability, he wouldn't say it. That's why she thought, as well as Aaron, that Verxal can see the future.

"You are wrong, Verxal. I won't use lightning because I will use fire!" Ellena yelled as she produced a flame within her other arm.

"Dual ability user? Or maybe you have some ability like making you use any element."

"Who knows," Ellena smirked as she also launched lightning after her fire.
