Chapter 143 - Ellena's Perspective [2]
"Hah! The Murphey Family doesn't care about adventurers' matters, dumbass!"
I was muted. They were still confident after what I said. And even though their faces became sour for a moment, it was still useless. Maybe right now they are thinking that I am hoping that the authorities can help us.
Now I am also curious. Why do they only target parties?
"So what do you want?" I asked them to finish this stupidity quickly.
He smiled, maybe thinking that I was starting to bite their threats.
"Give us one gold coin every month. If you can give us that, we can make sure your party is safe. Of course, in your quests, we won't be saving you. But in this place, you won't be bothered by our wrath if you give us money."
"Ahhh... So that was it. Okay."
They smiled as if they were already good. Did they think that I would follow their orders? What an idiot! I won't!
I looked at the three girls I was with and smiled secretly.
I acted as if I had something to take from my bag, but in reality, I didn't have to get anything.
[Binding Light]
A light suddenly appeared that surrounded them immediately. It formed as a circle and suddenly, in a blink of an eye, they were apprehended. They were bound and couldn't move.
Their eyes were filled with surprise. They tried to get away from the restrictions, but they couldn't.
"Wha-! What are you doing?! Do you think you'll be safe with this? Remove this in an instance or we'll kill you!" They roared.
They are really bold. I think they are secretly ruling over the party of adventurers. That must be the reason why they aren't scared of the citizens witnessing this.
"Big Sister, it feels like they can't handle your powers," Thalia said.
I just hushed her and pointed out the leader of the group.
"That guy is done. His license will be revoked and will be useless for the rest of his life." I just said
That was random, actually. Him, being useless was just random and I didn't mean to say it.
But his license was the thing. His group's reputation and standing in the guild will be overshadowed by mine. I mean, this is basic extortion and it's a crime, right? I'm not just spouting my authority out of nowhere.
All of them continued to struggle, but they couldn't remove the shackles that I put on. I asked for Rosellete's assistance to bring them to Murphey's residence.
"How can I help you?" A guard asked us.
Well, I purposely didn't go straight to the adventurers' guild. I meant to tell everything to Verxal and also report about the group that we killed. I mean, it was self-defense and Verxal won't be questioning us about it since he already knew my situation.
The leader of the party that I captured just made a smug face.
"I am Idino Raulo! From the Evergreen Party! You know me, right? Please mister guard, help us! This female restraint us out of nowhere and thought of bothering the Murphey Family."
They were complacent. It appears that they still think their standing is all over the place that they can use. But it's useless. They don't know me. If it were just me, I could just kick his crotch to make it impotent.
Well, I hate people who are exploiting their power. I am also one of them, and I am a hypocrite. But I don't think of trampling over people who are weak. I don't bully others who don't have a grudge against me.
"Is it true that you caught them unreasonable and wanted to bother the Murphey Family? Who are you to think that you can just come here and bother the Murphey family because of your matters?" The guard wasn't being rude to us in particular. He was just doing his job, but it slightly hurt my ears.
I took out my special identification and also the token that Verxal gave me. I showed it to the guard and his eyes turned wide immediately. He suddenly bowed at us and turned 180.
"Please forgive me for not recognizing you."
I also noticed that the Evergreen Party was flabbergasted.
"What? Why is that guard bowing down?" One of the party wondered.
I just smirked and looked at them. "Now you know what you have done. And obviously, I want all of you to be removed from the guild, so I went straight to the Murphey Family." I said.
"Who are you?"
"It's not important. You just stepped on a land mine. And also, it's for the best of the guild."
"Can you report it to Verxal that I came to visit? Please also have these people apprehended. They are extorters, so consider them criminals."
The guard nodded and called other guards to help him.
We went straight to the waiting area and waited for minutes. The Evergreen Party struggled for seconds and became wild. Well, it's understandable since they are near to be jailed.
Pft. They are funny. If they didn't want to get caught as criminals, at least, they should have think of trying not to do 'it'.
I also thought that maybe they'd become enemies of mine. But it's useless. I'll be living as Noelle until I become famous enough that people's interests will be piqued in my real identity.
That's what we are planning, and it's beautiful and perfect. That would boost my reputation before I attend the Royal Academy. I will surely do everything in my ability to save the world from my grandfather.
***
A few minutes later, Verxal arrived. He still has this high-spirited face. It was soothing for me and removed my worries in the meantime.
"It's already late. How can I help you, Ellena?" he asked. He was also wearing his comfortable clothes, which I presume are his apparel when it comes at night.
We're really that late? I don't think so. Earlier, it was just sunset.
"What time is it?" I asked.
"It's 6:30 pm."
"It's still 6 and yet you call it late? Why are you even in your bedtime clothes?" I couldn't help but express my words.
"Huh? What are you... Gyah!" He was surprised by his own actions and overreacted.
Gyah? Really?
He ran away from us and later on came back with proper clothes.
"Forgive me for that embarrassing act," he said.
"It's even too early to sleep," I said as he sat down across our couch.
"Well, I have a mission tomorrow, so I had to prepare early. By the way, can I ask you now what's your business with me?"
Finally, he asked for that keyword.
"I was attacked again earlier. But they ended up dying in our arms. I think they are at least cursed so that they can't disclose their master." I said.
The other girls were just silent and didn't think much about joining our conversation. I guess it's understandable since they don't know Verxal.
"Ah! Before that, I want to introduce my party members. They are accompanying me, actually."
Verxal looked at each of them then smiled. "I am Verxal." And as Verxal introduced them, the three of them followed.
Then, a few moments later, we went back to the topic.
"Verxal, don't you think this is a big problem? This doesn't just threaten my safety but also others'. What if it isn't me? And they try to prey on others who are weaker than me. And what if... I was not their first prey and was not the first victim?"
Yup.... I thought that it was strange and alarming for me. At least, if I want to bring safety to the people around me, why can't I just eradicate the threat myself so that future threats will disappear?
