Chapter 23-2
Chapter 23-2
Camille couldnt believe Ottos story.
I dont believe it; how could that happen? he said.
I dont believe it either, but its the truth.
Who on earth did you hear it from?
There is a maid who happened to witness the witch casting the curse, and she told me.
This was a hidden story that could only be told by an old maid named Celine.
If the player maxed out Celines likability, a short cinematic video would play.
Its a short-edited version of what happened at the time, and the cinematic gives the player a sense of what happened in the past.
Its one of those valuable pieces of information that only someone who hasnt done anything to beat the game as the trashy character Otto de Scuderia can obtain.
So the maid didnt end up telling her lord what she had witnessed?
Yes.
How.
Camilles eyes grew harsh.
Who in the world is that maid who saw the Evil Witch do such a thing to my lord and didnt say a word.
His voice was low, but it contained compressed anger.
To Camille, Lord Oryx was like a father figure.
No, a father to him.
It was only natural, then, that he would be furious at the maid for keeping quiet about the events of the day.
She neglected her duty.
Not everyone can be like my brother.
What do you mean by that?
Why do people look up to knights for their chivalry? How many people can honestly report what they saw and heard in that situation? One in a hundred, no, one in a thousand?
.
To ask her, a mere commoner, to have the courage to not fear the retribution of an evil witch its excessive, at least I think so, and if I were in that situation I wouldnt have the confidence to report honestly.
Otto gave a bitter smile.
I suppose thats why people look up to chivalrous knights, because its not every day you find someone who is willing to stand up for whats right, even at their own risk.
But.
Its been over twenty years, and holding her accountable and punishing her now isnt going to change anything, and I I think its probably for the best that she kept her mouth shut.
Why do you think that?
Because if she had opened her mouth, would the witch have stayed quiet? Shes a more powerful witch than Nazrak or Condor, and if her plans hadnt gone according to plan, she might have unleashed a carnage that would have reduced our territory to ashes overnight.
I see what youre saying, but arent you angry?
Camille asked, noticing that Otto didnt look particularly angry.
Not really.
but in truth, Otto wasnt nearly as outraged as Camille.
He did feel humanly angry at the cruelty of Angela behaviour towards a family.
But Otto was only in the position of a third party, and it was impossible for him to be as fully outraged as I was.
Revenge is.
Of course.
Killing Angela was the only way to lift the curse, so revenge was not an option, but a necessity.
For Otto, it was a matter of survival.
***
Camille didnt ask Otto how he planned to get revenge.
Based on Ottos behaviour lately, it seemed like he had a plan.
Revenge isnt far off, so just be patient.
I understand.
Then lets get out of here.
Where are you going?
Im going to take a quick look around.
Youve only just woken up, so if you push yourself too hard, you might get sick.
Even if you say its okay.
Otto smiled wryly, then pushed himself out of bed and started to walk away.
Angela, She will return on her own accord. In the meantime.
Ottos gaze lingered on the yellow arrow on the floor.
The reason for the arrow was simple.
[Notification: an HERO UNIT has appeared! Follow the arrow to meet the HERO UNIT!]
[Notification: an HERO UNIT has spawned! Follow the arrow to meet the HERO UNIT!]
[Notification: an HERO UNIT has appeared! Follow the arrow to meet the HERO UNIT!]
Three Hero Units have appeared as rewards for completing the <Build a Dynasty!
Right now, Otto is in dire need of talented people, so he had to recruit Hero Units right away.
And the appearance of Hero Units is completely random.
It was driving me crazy to see which hero units would appear.
Please please give me something good please.
Otto quickly followed the yellow arrow, desperately hoping that a high-ranked Hero Unit would appear.
A fork in the road soon appeared, and Otto followed the leftmost of the three arrows.
The arrow led to a riverbank, at the end of which was a white, gray-haired old man with a fishing pole cast into the river, smoking a cigarette stubbornly.
And above the old mans head was a golden exclamation point (!).
Otto looked at the gray-haired old mans back and gasped.
No way?
For some reason, he thought he knew who the old gentleman was.
