After Li Huang left, grandmaster Huili started thinking about the night's events, and she couldn't hide her surprise anymore.
When Li Huang entered the formation, she worked on a few tools that she had in mind. When working, she is usually so focused that she doesn't notice what is happening around her, but this time, something made her aware of an abnormality.
She might have missed it if it was anything else, but how can she not notice it when it was related to the formations?
She minded her own business when she felt all the formation masters here with her, gathered in one place and activated a defensive formation. She figured there might have been an intruder, so she continued her work, but soon she understood that her assumption was wrong as the elders seemed surprised instead of angry. She couldn't contain her curiosity and checked the formation to see what was happening inside.
What she saw shocked her to her core. The first thing that surprised her was the identity of the supposed intruder; he was the young master of the Li family and the same person she was supposed to see soon.
How could the formation masters in the mansion be this blind to treat a guest like this? How could they not see that this would only backfire on the organization and her? True, she could handle the situation somehow, but wouldn't all the cultivators be scared of accepting her invitation in the future? What would ordinary people think of her and the organization in the future? Wouldn't everyone be their enemy by design if they treat their guests with malice?
All these questions passed her mind right that instant, but she didn't need to ponder on them because the reason for it was all apparent to her; there was someone who would benefit from this situation, and it wasn't the organization nor the Li Huang who was trapped inside the defensive formation.
She could find more about the traitor and the reason behind this situation later, but she had to act fast. It was bad enough that she overlooked this situation until now; if she were to delay acting anymore, Li Huang might really get hurt. If that were to happen, it would only escalate the situation.
She had heard about the [Eternal wail trial] and how Li Huang practically helped everyone get out of the formation. Wouldn't she be making an enemy of every sect in the divine central continent?
She didn't waste more time and stretched out her hands to tear the formation apart. There were other ways to stop the formation, but she didn't want to risk anything happening to Li Huang, so she chose the costliest method where there was no risk for the person inside the formation.
Just as she was about to get Li Huang out of the formation, she saw the thing that shocked the other formation masters. Li Huang was somehow able to follow the formation pathways and headed toward the secret exit. This was simply something unbelievable to others, but to Huili, it was a familiar power.
"He… He can't be…" She muttered and forgot what she was about to do and observed Li Huang. It was as if she was cheering on Li Huang, as with each step in the right direction, she would feel a rush of excitement.
'Heavens! I was right about him!' When Li Huang turned to look at the eye of the formation, Huili was sure about her assumption. Taking a deep breath, she calmed herself and put this in the back of her mind for now. She had to handle the formation masters first, and then she could investigate the situation with Li Huang later.
…
Now that Li Huang was gone, Huili could think about the implications of what she saw and the request Li Huang had made. After seeing how Li Huang seemed to feel the formation, she wanted to see him more just to investigate what she felt, but she had no excuse to do so, but Li Huang's request solved her dilemma and gave her the reason to see him again, and she would be a fool to miss such a perfect chance.
'I just have to make sure of it…' Huili thought to herself and nodded. She was eager to know about Li Huang but didn't want to seem pushy.
Li Huang, who had just gotten out of the mansion, didn't know what was on Grandmaster Huili's mind and thought that he had won big time with the arrangement he set for himself.
'With this, I will be better in the art of the formations so I can have a better chance at overcoming anything thrown at me.' Li Huang thought as he had a smile on his face. Although he took care of Jin Fen, it wasn't certain that he wouldn't face more issues down the line. In a world that might makes right, it would be foolish not to increase one's power when a chance presents itself.
"Just one more thing to take care of before I can return." Li Huang muttered under his breath. He didn't forget about the formation master that purposefully tried to put him at odds with the Tianteng organization when they were so close to a war.
He took out the communication device from his storage ring and made contact with the one who knew what to do.
~"Grandpa, there is someone you need to investigate as soon as possible."~ Li Huang sent a sound transmission to his grandpa Li Long, observing the city from a distance.
~"Who and why?"~ Li Long sent back a response immediately. He knew better than anyone that these sorts of communications were prone to eavesdropping, so they had to finish this conversation as fast as possible to avoid such a thing.
~"a formation master called master Tu. He tried to harm the relationship between the Tianteng organization and us."~ Li Huang, too, understood that they could not talk for long, so he opted to give minimal information in this sound transmission. He also hid that this formation master tried to harm him, fearing that his grandpa might run to the city to kill this formation master himself.
~"I see."~ Li Long didn't need to hear more to understand the situation; this master Tu had probably colluded with the Xu family, if not with the so-called fire cult, so it was of utmost importance to get their hands on this master Tu and get some information out of him.
~"Because of the situation he created, he is not a part of the organization anymore, so I think he will try to leave the city as soon as possible."~ Li Huang added just to let grandpa Long know that the target might try to flee as soon as possible.
'Without the Tianteng organization backing him, he might be targeted as soon as the news of him being no longer a part of the organization spreads; who knows how many people this master Tu has offended. If that were to happen, we simply would have no way to get information out of a living master Tu.' Li Huang thought. '…Well, there might be a method to get information out of the dead, but that is beside the point.' Li Huang shook his head to get rid of the useless thoughts.
~"I see. I'll await your full explanation."~ Li Long said. He didn't miss that Li Huang omitted some things but didn't say much as he didn't want to talk too much in this sound transmission.
~"Of course, grandfather."~ Li Huang said.
With that, they finished their conversation. There wasn't anything else that they needed to discuss right now, so Li Huang went back to their residence, and Li Long contacted a few elders in the family to stop formation master Tu before he could disappear for good.
As the main auction was so close, Li Huang couldn't help but be excited about what he could find here, but his mood changed a little as he thought about it more.
'Other families wouldn't let me have all the items that I want to just because I have bets for them…' He had to make intelligent moves to avoid attracting too much attention.
