Chapter 79 - Probably Not Important
While the misunderstanding with Captain Wudi's supposed feat of uprooting the Bloodmoon Gang's Silvercove Branch continued, a news reporting team was on the verge of tears near the police station's ruins.
"What do you mean we are not getting any viewers? The destruction of the police station should be a hot topic!" A man inside the white van argued on the phone.
[Look, buddy. No matter what you say, the statistics don't lie. The chief is not happy with Miss Kaires' performance. If the viewership rating doesn't hit at least 5% city-wide, she should be prepared to quit her job.]
The other side relayed the Editor-in-Chief's words helplessly.
"I see... Alright, I understand. Thanks." The man sighed before hanging up.
Shortly after, the man popped his head out of the van, "Take a break, Miss Kaires. Words from the chief came in."
"Alright, any reason why we are getting below standard viewership rating?" Hu Kaires asked with a downcast expression.
"Don't worry, Miss Kaires. This is not your fault," The man passed a water bottle to Hu Kaires before he said, "However, the chief said that—"
"Ahh! I found out the problem!" The driver suddenly exclaimed while surfing the internet on the phone. "The people are all tuning in on a young female's Livestream!"
"What?! How can a small live-streamer steal all our audience?!" Hu Kaires immediately uttered with an indignant expression, "Could she possibly be prettier than me?!"
"How could that be? You are definitely prettier, Miss Kaires. It's because of a big incident that happened over at Yama Hotel! It says here that the hidden Bloodmoon Gang that terrorized over Silvercove had been wiped out by the police team led by Captain Wudi!" The driver stated.
"What?" The cameraman nearby spat out his water in aghast, "You're telling me the police team sacrificed their HQ to wipe out the enemy? What kind of big brain tactic is this?"
"I don't know, but since the main attraction is at Yama Hotel, we should quickly head over before it's too late!"
"Alright!"
The news reporting team quickly packed their equipment to drive over.
At the same time, Captain Wudi became a hot topic on the internet as forums exploded with activity regarding the new hero of Silvercove.
However, the public eyes were not the only people paying attention to Captain Wudi. Many bigwigs and tycoons living inside Silvercove also paid close attention to Captain Wudi as they began to reevaluate his strength.
"Why haven't I heard about such a person inside Silvercove before? He seems a bit old, but he is worthy of joining us with his strength and character. How can something like a law-enforcement job be suitable for him? Quickly make arrangements to send that person an invitation!" A middle-aged man spoke inside the Hunter Association's main branch office.
"Understood, Branch Leader Johnson. I will get it done right away," The female secretary by Branch Leader Johnson bowed before leaving.
...
Inside Seymour's humble home, Klein Seymour returned from visiting his friend's lab.
Noticing the lounge lights was still on, he made his way over before spotting both his daughters on the phones while the TV was switched on.
"Why are you two not in bed yet? Don't you two have school and work tomorrow?" Klein Seymour asked his daughters.
Anya Seymour was surprised before she dragged her father over with enthusiasm, "Dad, you should join us! Something big happened in the city! The Bloodmoon Gang you were worried about has been wiped out!"
"Oh? So fast?" Klein Seymour's eyes brightened with pleasant surprise, "Was it Young Master Albion's doing?"
"How can it be that mean guy's doing?" Anya Seymour's expression crumpled upon mentions of Albion before she informed, "It is said here that there was a big battle between the Bloodmoon Gang and the local police. They were wiped out by the team led by Captain Wudi!"
"Brother Wu did?" Klein Seymour was even more surprised before he ruled out the possibility with a shake of his head, "No, no, no. Captain Wudi is strong, but he wouldn't have the courage to do something like this with that cowardly character of his."
"Wiping out the Bloodmoon Gang is considered cowardly?" Anya Seymour muttered with doubt. She was completely sold by the online claims.
"Young Master Albion's credit was probably taken by Captain Wudi by mistake or something," Klein Seymour waved off the matter before urging, "Alright, it's already midnight. Go to sleep now. Look, your elder sister is yawning."
"Then I will be heading off first, father."Eleanor Seymour yawned again before getting up from the couch with droopy eyes.
Bam!
Her head was shortly smacked against the wall before she found her way around it awkwardly, "I'm fine..."
"Haiz..." Klein Seymour shook his head helplessly with a sigh at his eldest daughter's leaving figure.
His eldest daughter was the most responsible and hardworking in the family, but she was also a complete ditz in her off-hours, namely, the early mornings and very late evenings.
His worry as her father can be imagined if she was not home outside of this time frame.
"Alright, you too, missy. Off to bed, you go." Klein Seymour stated.
"Blehhh!" Anya Seymour poked her tongue before running off to her room.
Klein Seymour shook his head before turning the TV and lights before heading off to his own bedroom upstairs, where his wife was sleeping.
Meanwhile, after Anya Seymour closed the door on the way inside her bedroom and leaped onto her bed, she began to doubt the news online.
"Father seemed quite certain that the Bloodmoon Gang was not wiped out by Captain Wudi and his team... Was it really done by that person? Hm, won't I know after giving the person a call?" She thought.
Although she was still unhappy with Albion hanging up on her previously, her curiosity got the better of her.
After finding Albion's name in the list of contacts, she immediately dialed the number.
Ring~Ring—Beep.
The phone rang for two instances before it suddenly ended.
"Fuuu—! He's not even accepting my calls now!" Anya Seymour fumed before taking out her frustration on her pillow.
The pillow: (Q_Q)
...
Meanwhile, inside the luxurious hilltop mansion on Skylark Hills, Albion tossed the phone onto his bed after ending the call from an "unfamiliar" number.
"Why do I keep get calls from random people?" Albion complained with a soft mutter while drying his hair after he had just finished showering.
"Hmm.... Why do I feel like I have forgotten something?" Albion suddenly thought for a moment before he quickly gave up on recalling, "Never mind, it was probably not important anyway."
