Chapter 39 - Phantasmium
"Estelle, you are mistaken. Senior Luo and I found you like this." The female officer unhappily explained before started questioning sternly, "What happened? Why are you here, and why do you look like that? Have you been drinking?"
"Sara…? That's right! I followed the smell of blood to this place and found a group of ruffians and a dead body here!" Estelle's mind quickly cleared up and recalled before shooting to her feet.
She grunted from a pain coming through her forearm before Senior Officer Luo frowned and said, "Let me take a look."
"It's fractured."
Senior Luo determined after a quick diagnosis.
Meanwhile, the female officer Sara inspected the dark alleyway after listening to Estelle's words but failed to find any dead body, not even a trace of blood or fighting except a few gunshots.
"Estelle, I can't believe you would actually drink irresponsibly while on duty." Officer Sara accused her.
Estelle was briefly startled before it turned to anger.
"How can you accuse me like that? You know I am not like that!"
"I don't know whether you are not like that or not. All I know is that the evidence points are you reeking of booze while there is no dead body around here, not even a trace of it. Are you sure you weren't hallucinating under the influence of alcohol?" Officer Sara snickered.
Senior Luo frowned and said, "That's enough, Sara. I know there are some misunderstandings between the two of you, but there is no need for you to falsely accuse her like this. Do you think Estelle will fracture her own arm?"
"Who knows? People do stupid things when they are drunk." Officer Sara said.
Seeing Senior Luo caring for Estelle and defending her, Sara felt bitterness and jealousy burning inside.
"You—! Haiz, never mind. I don't want to argue with you. We need to get Estelle's arm treated first. We can deal with this matter later…" Senior Luo's words suddenly slurred towards the end when he noticed something that caused him to frown.
He turned to look at Estelle seriously and asked, "Where's your firearm?"
"It's right h—Oh, no!"
Estelle was shocked when she felt her empty holster.
"You're in big trouble now. Not only did you drink irresponsibly, but you also lost your firearm. I think someone might have picked it up while you were passed out." Officer Sara stated, feeling delighted by Estelle's plight.
Even Senior Luo would not be able to Estelle escape heavy punishment for losing her firearm. The gun's cost was not something she can easily recoup with her wage within a short time. She immediately felt miserable inside.
Talk about a bad day at work!
…
Over at one of the Seymour's Estate, the time was roughly 11 PM, but the lights in the living room were still brightly lit.
"Honey, it's already late. Who are you waiting for? Could it be our daughter? Hm, that's not right. You know that Anya normally doesn't come home early if she is still out at this time." Jun Seymour said.
Zhen Jun was her maiden name and, she was the wife of Klein Seymour. Their two daughters inherited their beauty from her.
Despite being 45 years old, she still looks like someone in her early 30's. Klein Seymour is often teased for marrying a young wife when they are only 7 years apart because of that.
"That girl is out playing again?" Klein Seymour furrowed his brows and checked the time on his watch before he sighed, "Haiz, no wonder she did not even come to see me."
"Eh? That can't be right. Our daughter said she was going to meet you at the port before she left the house today, though? Could something have happened to her?" Jun Seymour said nervously.
"What?! Why did you tell me this earlier?"
Klein Seymour stood up in alarm and checked the time on his watch again. He arrived at the port around 8 PM, and it was now already 11:10 PM!
It has been over 3 hours since then!
"Try calling our daughter." He told Jun.
"Why don't you call her?" Jun Seymour raised an eyebrow, finding it weird that her husband appeared so anxious yet asking her to make the call. "Don't tell me you broke your phone again? That's was a Brick, you know!"
"I—Haiz, why are you fighting with me over this when our daughter could be missing, woman?" Klein Seymour sighed and said with urgency, "Hurry up and call our daughter's phone!"
"R-Right!"
Jun was startled into awareness and immediately took out her phone to call. The call failed to go through.
"…"
Silence ensured the room while the couple was feeling heavy-hearted. However, it was not long before there was a sudden ring on the door.
Albion passed through the security at the front entrance without a problem while carrying Anya on his back when she told the guards to let them through shortly after they got off the taxi.
"Mum! Dad!"
Anya immediately leaped off Albion's back and dive into her mother's arms before breaking into tears after the door was opened.
"There, there. It's good that you have made it home." Jun caressed her daughter's head gently and warmly before picking up a foul smell and said, "It seems you have suffered quite a bit while you were outside today."
"Mm, Mm!"
Anya nodded.
She definitely suffered quite a bit today. Jun Seymour slowly shifted her gaze to the young man in sailor clothes by the door and said, "And… who might this be?"
"Young Master Albion." Klein Seymour shortly made his way past his wife and daughter to greet Albion.
Anya quickly gasped with surprise, not expecting her father to show Albion such great respect. Just who was this person exactly? Why was her father so respectful to him?
At the same time, Albion nodded and handed over the phone with dead batteries to Mr. Klein, "Your Brick have inconvenienced me with dead batteries, a kidnapping rescue, and babysitting. I expect to be reimbursed for my troubles and travel fares."
Anya immediately pouted.
This person was too much. He got a free meal but still wants her father to pay him back for the two taxi fares he paid.
"So, my daughter was…" Klein Seymour softly exclaimed before he understood the entire event from Albion's brief words. He became full of smiles and said, "Why, of course. Thank you for saving my daughter's life—"
Klein Seymour shortly froze at the sight of dried bloodstains and a small bullet hole on Albion's shirt.
"You're hurt."
Albion nodded.
Realizing it was inappropriate to keep Albion at the door, Klein Seymour said to his wife, "Why don't you bring our daughter upstairs to wash up first. I need to have a chat with Young Master Albion here in private."
"Alright."
Jun nodded and shortly took Anya away. Afterward, Klein Seymour brought Albion to his study room filled with books he does not even read.
"How were you hurt, Young Master Albion?" Klein Seymour asked with intense curiosity. It came as a shock that someone who can block bullets with his bare body was also harmed by bullets.
"Take a look at these things and tell me if you know what they made from." Albion started before pulling out the handgun from his pockets and placed it on the table.
Afterward, he prepared to reopen his healed wound in order to take out the bullet stuck inside.
Ding! Ding!
Unfortunately, his fingers failed to penetrate his own flesh. He could not break through his own True Immortal Body's defense when a bullet was able to.
"…Are you fricking kidding me?"
Albion scratched his head with distress. He was unable to remove the bullet from his shoulder. After a moment, he sighed and said, "Never mind, just take a look at the bullets in that handgun."
"Alright."
Klein Seymour nodded and fiddled with the handgun for a bit before he detached the small magazine and studied the jet-black bullets inside."
His eyes narrowed with scrutiny for a moment before he widened his eyes in alarm and asked, "Did you rob a police officer for this?"
"Yeah, why?"
"These bullets are made from Phantasmium."
