Chapter 36 - Brother Chen
Sometime later, a female waiter brought an array of dishes ranging from eastern food to western food and placed them on the table.
"Please enjoy your meal, Ms. Anya, Sir." The female waiter said.
Shortly after, the waiter left to serve other customers.
Looking at the array of food on the table, Albion his head and said, "You ordered so much food. Are you even going to finish them all?"
"Even if I cannot, I must try it! How dare that person call me a hobo!" Said Anya as she picked up a fork and digging it into the food like it was her worse enemy.
"You're still not over that?"
Albion lightly smiled with a shake of his head before cutting into his own succulent steak, oozing with juicy tenderness. The slice of meat drowned in mushroom sauce melted in his mouth and brought teary joy to his eyes as he experienced the taste of heaven.
He had good steak before, but it was the first time he had it at a classy restaurant with a price above $100. Considering he was trapped at the bottom of the ocean for two years, it made the experience all the more memorable.
"Hey, hey, hey, have you never had good food or something before? How can you make it look so exaggerated?" Anya said before licking her lips and stealing a sliced cut from Albion's plate.
Albion immediately snapped out of his reverie and mildly complained, "Oi, oi, you have so much food on your side, and yet you still steal from mine?"
"Hehe!" Anya poked out her tongue before dipping the slice in his bowl of mushroom sauce and devoured the meat. Her eyes slowed widened in surprise.
"Seriously? I know why I am surprised, but why the heck are you also surprised? Don't you enjoy these types of foods often?"
"I do! But this is the first time I've had such a tender steak!"
Albion looked at Mr. Klein's daughter in doubt and asked, "How do you usually have your steak cooked?"
"Hm? My parents like them well-done, so I usually also have them well-done."
Albion looked at Anya in disbelief, like he was looking at a monster. Her parents were also monsters.
"That is not how you enjoy steak!"
He immediately recalled a terrible memory he once experienced in his past life at a place called Sizzler. At that time, it was a high-school class reunion and his first time going to eat at that place.
As a fan of steak, he naturally ordered medium-rare, cooked steak. However, the place ended up serving him the baddest, meanest well-done steak among well-done steaks.
It was like eating a brick! It was simply dry and rock-hard like some witch had cast a petrification spell on it!
Albion had no idea how someone can screw up the order so badly. However, he believed the chef must have been a grumpy vegetarian. After all, Sizzler was a place where you order any meal you want and get to enjoy an all-you-eat salad.
He also recalled that a classmate of his ordered a medium-rare steak but ended up getting blue-rare that was literally dripping in blood instead. It was so rare he could have sworn he heard the steak mooing.
Shaking his head, Albion sighed and said, "If you want to enjoy tender steak, medium-rare is the way to go."
"Is that so? Hehe, how about swapping dishes?" Anya suggested while reaching for another steal.
Albion softly slapped her hand and away and said, "No!"
"Che, stingy! It is not like you are the one paying for it anyway."
"Last I check, you aren't the one paying for the meal either."
Albion was quick to refute.
Anya was shortly stunned after as what he said seems to be true. She was making the manager put everything on his tab and then complain to her cousin Rose to fire him after.
She became embarrassed and tried to shift the topic while the waiter brought over the six bottles of wine in ice buckets.
"By the way, thank you for saving me earlier. I will ask my dad to reward you handsomely for it—Speaking of which, I have visited the port a few times, but I have never seen someone handsome like you working there before. Are you someone my dad just recently employed?" Anya asked curiously.
Albion paused for a moment before he corrected, "You seem to have been misunderstanding something. I do not work for your father; I work with your father."
"Ah? Really?! But those clothes…"
"Oh, these clothes? Your father lent them to me after I lost my own clothes at sea." Albion vaguely explained, brushing past some details.
"I see…"
Anya flushed with embarrassment. She had totally mistaken the person for one of her father's subordinates or employees.
"Allow me to apologize to you by drinking this cup of wine." Said Anya after she poured herself a cup and downed it in one ago.
However, things still felt awkward at the table, so she poured herself some more wine and downed another cup, causing her face to flush slightly.
"There's no need for you to do this. A little girl like you should not be drinking so much at this age." Albion tried to advise her.
However, his good intentions produced the opposite effect.
"Who are you calling a little girl? I'll have you know that I am already 18 this year!" Anya pouted with a flushed face before she started getting hiccups.
*HIC*
Albion was momentarily speechless before he tried to take the wine bottle from her hands while saying, "Alright, that is enough drinks for you. You are already drunk. I still need to rely on you for directions later so I can take you back home."
"No~! I still need to finish these bottles of wines~! *HIC* If I don't, they will just take it back and subtract it from that person's tab!" Anya argued.
Albion was speechless.
Even now, she was still thinking about making the manager suffer and not letting him off at all. This woman was genuinely vengeful and troublesome.
"Is there something I can help you with, Sir?" A female waiter asked Albion after he called her over.
He nodded and said, "Take these away. We are done here."
"Certainly, Sir. Thank you for dining with us at Rose's Bar and Grill. I hope you have a pleasant evening, Sir." The female thanked Albion, seeing Anya was utterly out of it.
On the table, Anya's ten dishes were barely touched. Only Albion had managed to finish his meal while she had only taken a few bites here and there. As for the six bottles, all of them were opened. However, only one of the wine bottles was drained halfway.
The rest was practically untouched.
"No!"
Anya hugged onto one of the wine bottles while the female waiter was trying to take them away and clean the table. The female waiter could not help but turn to Albion for help when her work was being obstructed.
Albion shook his head and said, "We'll keep this bottle. You can take the rest away."
"Understood, Sir."
Shortly after, Albion dragged the drunk Anya away from the Rose's Bar and Grill while chiding her with a frown, "You dressed like a party girl, so why are you so weak against liquor? C'mon, what's your home address? I'll take you home now."
"…Uuuuu…. Hehe."
Anya uttered some incomprehensible words and giggled in her drunken stupor, causing Albion to be full of frowns. He would not be able to get an answer out of her like this.
Meanwhile, back on the second floor of Rose's Bar and Grill, the manager secretly watched the two leave with a cold look. Anya had not been precisely subtle and allowed him to overhear her intentions.
'Since you did not plan to spare me, anyway, do not blame me for being ruthless!' The manager's eyes flickered with a chilly light. He flipped out his phone to dial a number.
"Who's this?"
The other side of the phone answered.
"Hello? Brother Chen? There's something I wish to trouble Brother Chen for… It's me, your little brother, Yao Bai. We met once at a gathering..." Manager Bai began speaking humbly through the phone.
"Yao Bai? Oh, I remember you. Sure, what is it?"
"It's like this… I was hoping you can send some people to help deal with two people… They are…" Manager Bai began listing Albion and Anya's appearances and whereabouts.
"You know my rules, right?" The person called Brother Chen asked.
"Yes, yes. Will $500 be enough?"
"$1000, no less or no deal."
Manager Bai's face crumpled slightly, but he quickly agreed, "Sure!"
"Good."
