Chapter 89: Rescue (5)
Chapter 89: Rescue (5)
What the hell?
These were Gaize's real thoughts when he saw the goblin army come upon them.
He already predicted that Dawn had some kind of army, but he didn't expect something like this.
Shuuu.
What was even more unexpected was that smoke was coming out of their bodies.
He didn't know how these goblins have done it, but for Gaize's eyes, they looked monstrous.
No, they were already monsters, so it made them look monsters beyond monsters!
"What the hell happened here?!" Gaize heard some goblin shout behind the wall of goblins.
This scene made him rethink what he knows about the creature called goblin.
Weren't they the weakest monsters? How come they could make me feel this way...?
These questions came coming back to bite Gaize's ass as he thought how scary and fearsome these goblins are.
After all, even if they were weak individually, these numbers weren't something they could kill immediately.
What's more, they were fighting all day long and became tired and weak as a result.
Although they could kill some of the goblins here, Gaize was sure that they would die.
After all, Warman could quickly assess a situation and make correct judgments and decisions on the spot after making their assessment.
That was how they were able to become a feared tribe all over the world.
However, those quick calculations regarding a battlefield only said that they would die.
It was quite ironic.
It was then.
The same angry voice resounded out, making his words echo in Gaize's ears.
"Kill those insolent humans at once!!!"
Gulp.
Gaize's throat moved to swallow the saliva that has pooled up. This was the first time Gaize feared something in his entire life.
He already forgot about his comrades that were probably making the same expressions and having the same emotions that he had right now.
And he also forgot about what to do when he's in this kind of situation.
Should he attack? Should he defend? Should he talk to the goblin that talked?
Gaize didn't know. This was the first time he has ever met this kind of situation.
The Warmen was always on the side of domineering people. They were the ones who made the decision of whether to kill someone or let them live.
Now, what would happen to those kinds of people if they were the ones who were being oppressed?
Their brains would stop working, and they would try to get back to their original spot at all costs.
After all, they were enjoying benefits at another person's death. It was quite easy to tell that they didn't want to move from there at all.
Moreover, Gaize and his comrades that were present were the geniuses that were sent to cultivate their talents.
They didn't have the necessary experience to keep calm in this situation.
That was why everything that transpired seems so slow to Gaize and even to the other men.
Their senses were locked as they didn't hear anything. No...their brains weren't functioning and not registering what was happening now.
Smoke?
The thing that made the goblins look fearsome?
Goblins?
The creatures that made them feel fear?
Fear?
Why did they have to feel fear? Was it because of the white goblin?
Dawn?
The white goblin, who they thought was the Goblin King?
Goblin King?
Their mission?
All those things entered their minds and exited the other way around, not coming back to remind the Warmen.
If you think about it, this kind of reaction was normal.
Their fight against Dawn, the Elder, the two goblins, running that seems to have lasted for an eternity, and then the extreme pressure that came from Moris...
The appearance of the goblin army broke their minds.
Seeing the goblins run towards them as if it were their most important job broke their souls.
"Guah!" One of the goblins bellowed, but none of the fierce Warmen replied.
Although the Warmen present all had fiery personalities, their brain couldn't handle the stress and pressure that came from every event that happened.
After all, if you exclude their strength, they would be considered children in Warmen.
They were honed, sharpened, and strengthened all their lives, but they didn't know any real battle until now.
In fact, this would be their first mission outside of their village.
It was then.
Boom!
One of the goblin's fists made contact with the long sword of Gaize's comrade.
However, their responses were clearly lacking impact and strength, making them look weak.
Dudududu.
The sheer number of the goblins rushing the Warmen was so many that they couldn't see the end of it.
And because of that, another fist came after another finished its swing.
It was blocked somehow when he moved, but another one came again.
Blocked, attacked, blocked, again...This repeated until their defenses finally broke.
Kuha!!
A punch made contact with his comrade's face, and this made him cough up blood.
His blood splattered to the ground and to the goblins attacking him, but that didn't matter to the goblins as they kept punching him.
That one mistake made him make even more mistakes as he continuously got punched as he couldn't keep up anymore.
This all happened slowly, and Gaize witnessed it all.
That was until he got his wits back as he remembered something.
'At least I must make the message!'
He remembered what the Warmen should do if ever certain death were spelled out in the battlefield.
He then looked if ever his comrade could be used for his purpose, and when he decided they would, he quickly shouted.
"Protect me! I will do the Soul Spell!!"
"!"
And this made the defending Warmen look at him abruptly.
They knew what Soul Spell was and what it meant for it to be used on a battlefield.
It would be to leave a dying message to their homeland and to the one who would receive the spell.
They knew it, and this made them confused.
Why would Gaize use that when they could still breakthrough the goblins?
After all, they were still doing fine.
Why?
It was because the goblins haven't attacked yet, and they didn't have any single casualty in their group.
Using the Soul Spell would mean certain death for the caster. That was the reason why it was a last resort if ever the mission was failed or some secret information must be passed on to their village.
"Hey! Gaize, what are you!?"
Fhrama shouted out while reaching out towards Gaize, who was getting ready to perform the spell.
Shung.
White light entrapped two of his fingers: the index finger and the middle finger.
Splak.
He ignored Fhrama and stabbed those two fingers in!
"O-oy!! Gaize, what the fuck are you on?!" Fhrama said as he widened his eyes when he saw Gaize stab his heart.
That was the point of no return.
They could understand this action if they were really cornered and couldn't do anything, but...the situation was still the same.
It was then.
As Fhrama continued rocking Gaize's body, he soon saw the ray of light coming out of Gaize's head.
Fhrama followed the line of light, and he widened his eyes when he saw the end.
It was...
"Arrogant fool."
Moris spoke as he twirled his finger in a mocking way as he witnessed Gaize's death.
"Y-you monstrous bastard!!" Fhrama shouted as he realized what was happening.
Gaize saw an illusion and was made to believe that what he was seeing was reality now.
However, even if Fhrama wanted to save Gaize now, he couldn't. After all, he didn't know what Moris did in order to make Gaize like that.
What's more, he can't save Gaize now as he started spelling something out with his fingers stuck in his heart.
It was the start of the Soul Spell, which could clearly be seen as Gaize's skin started to crack.
Clack.
His head opened as he focused on writing, but mysteriously, no blood and brain matter came out.
Clack.
His broad shoulders soon parted, and his chest could be seen cracking all over the place.
His arms, hands, stomach, thigs, legs...everything cracked until finally, Gaize became dust.
Whooooo.
The wind blew as the onlookers witness the pathetic end of the Warman called Gaize.
However, that was not the end of the Soul Spell.
The light which Gaize engraved on his heart soon flew towards the location of their tribe.
His message would be guaranteed to be delivered as he sacrificed his life for it.
That was Soul Spell.
And it seems Moris didn't have any plan to destroy that light as he just calmly looked over Dawn again.
He was so calm that it doesn't seem like he was the cause of Gaize's death.
It was ridiculous that he could even bring Gaize to death with just an illusion.
Well, the goblin army's appearance was just that traumatizing for everyone, and it amplified the effect.
Whoooo.
The wind blew once more as the group of goblin and Warmen looked at each other.
And within that silence, Moris spoke to the goblins...to Karkas who shouted earlier.
"Strayman, I'll leave it to you."
