Chapter 78: The Second Hunt (End)
Chapter 78: The Second Hunt (End)
When Karkas said what he wanted to do, the goblins immediately understood the situation.
Dawn went somewhere where goblins couldn't be found.
Well, anyone could have come up with this conclusion if ever they thought about who it was that called them here.
"So, where did the king go?" Didi asked as he paid no mind to Karkas' pressure right now.
After all, even if Karkas could exert that kind of pressure, Didi's blessings wouldn't betray him.
Besides, Karkas wasn't exactly releasing that pressure. It was some kind of involuntary reaction.
"Hmm. From his path..." Karkas murmured as he calculated where Dawn went to.
Dawn was behind the group of goblins that were hunting, and he went to the right side of the group.
Meaning, since the goblins were going to the south, Dawn turned to the west.
It was where the mountains were high and as tall as the sky.
"To the west...the king has gone to the west." Karkas voice was cracking as he deliberated about it.
If they followed Dawn right now, no one would lead the goblins that were scattered in the forest.
What was worse was that they couldn't be sure that they would be able to catch up to Dawn, who was running at full speed.
As all sorts of questions floated in Karkas' mind, he soon came to an answer as he whipped his head back to the group.
"I will lead the goblins here. The Elder will go, and he will take command of you guys. Go to the west; I'm sure you can see tracks of the king as you run."
Karkas was completely fine with the answer he came to as there would be a goblin who would lead the other goblins, while there were also a group of goblins that would come to escort the king back.
There was also the Elder who would be able to lead the group of fighters. It was completely reasonable, but...
'Oh, king...just why?' Karkas thought as he couldn't help but get a little bit of uneasiness in his heart.
"Got it!" Didi answered as he thumped his chest. He then looked at the Elder, who was tasked to lead them.
"Let's go!" The Elder stated enthusiastically as he gestured for the goblins to follow him.
His speed was still fast even though he was an old gob, so he was quite confident in being able to run with them.
However...
"I'll carry you, Elder." Hig said as he grabbed the old gob's shoulder.
The Elder whipped his head back when he heard what Hig said, but he couldn't refute it as Karkas spoke.
"Let him carry you, Elder. They evolved twice already. You won't be able to keep up."
The Elder bit his lips, but then, he knew that he was too old.
Even though his fire was burning out, he was still full of fighting spirit. After all, a goblin is a goblin.
Being told that he couldn't keep up with them is hurting...No, he already accepted it.
It was just that it was because it was for Dawn that he was feeling like this.
It was because he couldn't do anything to contribute to Dawn's road to kingship that he was trying to become like this.
It was just that...he couldn't do much anymore.
"Okay..." The Elder said meekly as he got on Hig's back.
The group then left for Dawn, who was currently trying to go to the west.
****
The goblins composed of Dawn's blessed goblins and centered around the Elder set out immediately after getting things sorted out.
They didn't plan to stay here when their king was going somewhere.
After all, the place or the road where the king plans to go might be full of monsters that could endanger his life.
Being able to protect him while using their life is something that every goblin knows.
That was why they needed no other words just to run after the king.
Of course, they didn't think that Dawn would die just like that. After all, the king is and always will be the strongest goblin.
However, they knew that there were times and situations where the king could die. They learned that from the previous war with the Four Big Villages.
They ran as they continued to chase after the king's tracks.
After all, it was so obvious where he went judging from how the trees were lined up in a single path.
Rocks and the land were destroyed, and Didi and the other goblins could see it well.
It was then.
As the silent group of goblins continued running, the Elder suddenly opened his mouth.
"Hig, someone is watching us." He spoke silently as he brought his mouth near Hig's ears.
"Don't react. The one watching is good. I can't feel him at all."
The Elder couldn't feel the one watching them even though he was a goblin who was sensitive to these kinds of gazes or stares.
However, what was even surprising was that...
"There's someone watching us...?" Hig asked with disbelief evident in his voice.
Hig couldn't tell or feel someone was watching them. It was unbelievable that he couldn't tell when the Elder could when he was a normal goblin.
After all, Hig was someone who evolved twice already.
"Yeah. Tell Didi and the others of this discreetly." The Elder advised the dumbfounded goblin.
However, Hig wasn't planning to disobey the Elder's orders as he was the leader of this group.
"Alright." Hig said as he naturally moved to the other goblins' side.
And he told them of what the Elder said in a small and weak voice in the goblins language.
"Hmmm...just be alert." Didi answered as such, and the group ran faster to reach the king.
****
Thud!
Dawn pushed off another tree with the sound of something heavy falling to the ground as he ran towards his destination.
He didn't know where exactly the thing that he felt was, but he had an idea of where it was generally located.
It was through the west.
And as he ran with his full speed for at least an hour, he now could see the mountains that were piercing the heaven.
He should be happy now that he was getting closer to his destination.
After all, he left his goblins just to go here.
However, as Dawn ran, his face was crumbled, and it was clear that he was angry with something.
And that something was...
---How can it follow me here?!
The thing that was watching him from before was still near him as Dawn felt that creature's gaze on him.
Dawn could feel that he was being watched even though he was running at full speed.
And that was something ridiculous.
Dawn's speed after his evolution was something a normal creature or monster couldn't follow.
However, even if this monster was a strong guy, just like how Dawn hoped, it doesn't make sense that it's following him.
After all, Dawn was trying to go to the west...No; he's already here.
And the fact that it is following him means that the creature's target was Dawn.
And Dawn doesn't know anything about why he should be a target.
If for a hunt, weaker goblins are definitely better. After all, they wouldn't put up much of a fight.
If for a battle...Dawn could understand. After all, Dawn was the strongest goblin right now in his village.
However, that creature was just observing Dawn as if he was an interesting being.
And this made Dawn confused and angry about it.
---Fucking bastard...Once I see you, I'll pulverize your bones to dust!
Even though he decided not to pay attention to it, Dawn doesn't want to be observed as this tingles his senses.
Time passed with his insides churning from his extreme anger.
It was then.
As he continued to fuss about how something was watching him while staying hidden, Dawn was forced to stop thinking about it.
Because he always had his focus around that thing and to the place where Dawn was trying to get to, he felt a slight change about it.
It was the same thing that happened when he first used his feeling to search for the creature that was looking at him.
---It's vibrating...
Dawn thought as he focused once more on the thing that he was trying so hard to grasp so he wouldn't lose it.
He could feel some sort of vibration, but it didn't last long. It was exactly like how Dawn found it first.
---Hmmm. Just what is it?
Dawn was extremely intrigued by this something that was seemingly trying to call him.
After all, Dawn only felt this way towards two things.
The Five Great Clans, which are composed of the colored goblins, and when Didi was about to get the power of the Cave.
That was why Dawn was interested in this thing that was able to make him feel like this.
Dawn was so interested in this thing that he was willing to ignore the threat of something or some creature or monster who was looking at him.
He was so interested that he was willing to abandon the hunt which his village was currently undergoing.
That was why he didn't see...
Shiiiing!
"Nice to meet ya!!"
...See the blade that was coming for him from his side.
