Chapter 779 Shares Acquired!
Count Hay was also extremely nervous at this time, that is, he hoped that Samuel's would be more atmospheric, as the rumors said. In any case he didn't want to offend him at all cost but at the same time he needed money.
" There is no need to think about it. How about we buy the shares at market price? I don't want to bargain since I know what your current situation is." Samuel word's were like gospel to him. According the latest data, the total market value of LVHM group is somewhere around thirty billion USD.
He knew that he couldn't get the premium price, even if he did there wouldn't be many people willing to give full price instantly. It's because the capital was too large, if he could sell the shares, there was nothing for him to worry about.
" Thank you, thank you. I am willing to sell it at market price." Count nodded, he already calculated in his mind, the value would be one billion, two hundred million dollars!
But on the other hand Delphina and Sharon were shocked by his sudden proposal. Originally, they wanted to lower the price but they never expected him to give fair price to the other party. It was business not charity, they could easily save few hundred million dollars, even Count wouldn't be able to say anything.
It's not like he didn't have his own capital. He could combine his saving to pay off the debt easily. Nobles were wealthy to begin with.
" However, I have a condition. I hope it will be done tonight. I know it's late but I think you can understand why." He said with a smile. It was already late, by the time they would be done, it might be one or two o clock but he didn't want to let go of this chance.
Samuel was still uncertain about his enemies, they could swoop in and offer more than him. He didn't want to take the chance, beside, he didn't know other party's nature. Count was polite now but in face of money, he could easily betray him.
" Of course, Prince, I will ask someone to bring the documents and get all the lawyers ready." Count patted his chest to assure that he was even more eager for this deal than him.
" Delphina, call your people. Just ask that this overtime will bring some huge bonuses for them after things are over." He faced Delphina and ordered her to take action.
" Alright, I will make the call." Delphina excitedly picked up her phone and moved to the side to inform her legal team. There were no alternatives, everyone wanted to reach this deal as soon as possible.
Samuel also called Abigail. She knew that he was in Paris and was ready for his commands. The firm was closed but she prepared few people to be stationed there, single, young and ambitious, they were willing to work during the holiday in hopes of earning money.
Samuel didn't have to worry much about banks, Alastair was responsible for creating a private bank after merging all the smaller acquisitions banks. It will take months if not years but for now they were working normally. For now, he had to rely on HSBC.
Abigail already gave them the order to be ready for the transfer. They were waiting for his command with the sufficient amount. Discover exclusive content at empire
Not long after, Delphina's team of lawyers came. They were escorted by the same waiter, they decided to open a larger private room to accommodate both parties. They were well versed in these type of contracts, in these past few weeks they went over dozens of small shareholders transfer under Delphina's leadership.
Within an hour, they prepared the necessary contract and delivered it to Delphina. Count was holding the contract in his hand and found the private lawyer inside the Club. The Club often had these type of dealing which was why they employed some of the best lawyers in the country to sit inside to consultation for their members.
These were the luxury of the Jockey Club, if one needed it, they could find it inside. The Count was very aware of it and called the person over to look over the contract. He had full trust in Club's capabilities, if something went wrong they had to take the responsibility it was one of the reason why he wanted them to go through with it as an insurance.
For small sum of money, the lawyers of the Clubs went through with the contract on the spot, mainly to see if there were any hidden pits. It was okay to be hasty but one couldn't ignore hidden dangers in business.
Lawyers said there was no problem with the contract. Count was elated and went back to the private box to sign the documents on spot. Since there were no additional clauses and no traps he was confident in this deal.
" This pen looks special." Samuel commented.
" Prince, you have a good eye. This was the pen left behind by my grandfather. It is said that he signed many important documents with this including the shares agreement. I don't know the full story because I was young at that time." He replied.
Count seemed proud of it but Samuel could only helplessly shake his head. If his grandfather knew wouldn't it be akin to disrespecting his grave? Wouldn't he jump out of his coffin to kill his prodigal grandson?
Samuel took over the contract and signed his own name. With this the deal was done, they only needed to bring it to securities Regulatory commission for submission to change the ownership of the shares.. Samuel asked Count for his account and asked Abigail to go through with the payment.
As they used bank's special channel, the payment was done in ten minutes. The Count confirmed with his own bank and was happy that it arrived safely without any issue. Even if he paid off the debt, he could have few hundred million to play around with. Still he vowed to never participate in high end poker games in the future, this even had already scarred him for life!
" Prince, Miss Delphina and Sharon, let's celebrate this deal!" He picked up his glass of Cognac. His previously worried self was nowhere to be seen as spirit finally returned to his face.
Samuel didn't disappoint. He clank glass together and drowned the alcohol in one breadth. Everyone was happy with this deal still he didn't want to stay with him for whole night. After some small talks, he decided to leave with Nicole and others.
After he left, Count straightened his clothes and reverted back to being his proud self. He walked out of the box and came to the main hall. At this time, the Club was the sparse but there were many people laughing and chatting.
He went to find the Chairman of the club on his own accord. When he asked the waiter, his voice was not small, everyone could hear him. They already knew about the debt, there was only one reason why he was looking for the Chairman, to repay his debt!
" Count Hay, is there any good news?" Ear Consor came out to meet him. He was a smooth man, even after Count owed such a large amount of money, he was not in a hurry to collect debt. He even gave him plenty of time because of his face, he didn't expect him to find him on such short notice.
" Consor, take this. With this the debt is repaid." He drew a bank cheque and handed it to the other party.
" Wait a minute. I have to check for it's authenticity. It's not like I am doubting you, it's only because the amount of too large." Earl Consor handed it to his staff. He already half believed Count Hay because he would be losing too much of his face since he handed the cheque so publically. There shouldn't be any tricks involved, he was sure of it.
They sat down together, tasting fine wines and chatting about gossips in the circle of nobility. Not long after, the staff came with some good news.
" My lord, there is no problem. It would be done tomorrow morning." Hearing his subordinate's report, Earl nodded and waved his hand for them to leave.
The smile on his face became more sincere," It looked like you had an opportunity." Earl knew about Count's circumstances, he didn't hear about any auction of him selling any fixed assets. This was not small amount of money, Count must have used some means to gather it in just a day!
" You are right. I will not talk much since other party don't want me to do that. I will leave since our accounts are settled." He finished the last bit of wine and prepared to leave. Earl didn't mind his arrogant temperament, it quite liked the Count this way.
They said their goodbye but before he left, he walked out to find the Baron from before. He only stopped and glanced at the other person few times giving him the cold look.
They all saw Earl Consor leave with a smile on his face. The matter was obviously settled. The Baron felt that his circle of friends shrink instantly. He just taunted the Count with his brother but now they began to abandoned him in fear that they too would upset the Count in the process.
He could only lower his head not willing to look the Count in face. He just wished to be forgotten!
Count didn't even say a thing but it shattered other party's spirit. It was evident that the Baron would be hiding from him in the future. He didn't care much about these rats, he walked proudly out of the hall.
Nonetheless, this incident was just another chapter in saga of Jockey Club. The calm returned to the hall as they started talking and laughing about other topic. Such type of events were common, people owe money, lose money, fight over money but they all knew even if they are forgotten, the club would still be standing far into the future!
