Chapter 71 Advice
71 Advice
" So you wanted to see us, Sami," Amelia says and sits alongside Father.
I informed earlier through Oscar that I wanted to discuss something with them if they have time. It is Sunday on which They would not have any work. I wanted to discuss my idea with them.
" Yes, now that you are here, I want to discuss a proposition with you guys." I said.
Previously, whenever I was serious and wanted to ask for something, they would have a worried look on their faces, but after a few months, they became numb to all of it. They started to trust my judgment more and treat me like a young adult capable of making his own decision.
" You can freely say whatever you want; there is nothing to hide from us," Father said, reassuring me; he thought I was shy about whatever I wanted to tell them.
" It is nothing serious; I want to take a short break from the daily routine and visit abroad." I expressed vaguely, trying to gauge their reaction. It is, after all, a sudden proposition.
" Abroad? I am all for taking a break. You are constantly working as far as I can see but why outside? You could rest inside the castle or tour the city." Mother said.
" I agree, you know we don't like you going too far away from home. A parent always worries about their child and going outside the country could be a huge risk after revealing your existance to the public." Father elaborates his view.
" I know you will be distressed, but I have a solid reason. One month ago, I made a promise to Hannah---" I explained the situation and how I came to a conclusion. I also told them my destination and why I chose it.
They listened intently and nodded along with my narration. I finished my explanation and stared at them, expecting their response.
" I see, I understand, but there are a few problems. Are you sure Hannah's parents would agree? You are also talking about the girl you saved, Adele; you must take her parent's sentiments into your plan. As far as I know, they are not from a well-off family-- " Father argued, but mother stopped his line of conversation.
" Honey, I don't want you to teach Sami to neglaect people based on their social standing. We have more than enough money to last several generation and I will never care about such things as long as Samuel is happy. I trust his judgement chosing his partners, you shou--" Mother went on a long tangent and formed her conclusions, but father also interjected.
" No, you misunderstand me; I am not judging the girl. I am saying that you have to understand her position in this situation. How would you feel if someone who helped you wanted something from you? How would she think if you were going to help her more without any motive? You have to understand the consequences of your actions. If you want to be better, consider their feelings and the guilt they would feel if you tried to uplift them too much.
It may only be taking her out on a fancy location first, but after many such favors, their self-confidence will plummet, and the guilt they would feel will also increase. What if later down the line both want to have--- you know?" He looked at mother and child, not wanting to explain he was visibly embarrassed talking about it but continued-
suggested it is better to take a break earlier than in the later stages of training.

I also called to meet the principal and teacher at the academy to discuss my break. " Something, what will it be based on? That was my point earlier."
Mother and I were surprised, but I understood where he came from.
" Since, when have you become a love guru? " Mother asks with a poker face.
" What do you mean, love guru? I am only stating facts, nothing else. You can interpret it however you want." Father looked away with an embarrassed face which lightened the atmosphere a little as Mother chuckled, seeing the caring side of her husband. This is what Amelia loved about her husband, a synergy between a stoic and caring man.
" I somewhat agree with Honey, but that may only be a possible outcome of all the scenarios. I have still not met Adele but so far I have only heard good things about her from Oscar. She is hardworking, focused and dedicated to her dreams. Oscar describes her a girl who appears to be very shy but strong girl inside. Despite the hardships she experienced, she still want to walk head strong instead of wollowing in pity." Mother said.
" I agree. I think I will not think about it right now. If someday an issue arises, I will clearly state my mind and leave it up to fate. But don't you think it is too early for me to think about it? " I also said, making my stance clear about the situation.
" I don't see why I know my son is different. Who writes a best seller at your age? Who goes on saving damsels in distress? I think you deserved it." Mother teased, which made me shrug helplessly. Even I agree with her assessment.
" Don't worry. Just know we will always support you." Father tousled my hair.
Both of them agreed with me, after which we discussed the specifics of the trip. It is a rushed plan, but we discussed logistics, and my father assured me not to worry about those.
" I will handle everything else, you only focus on convincing others." He said with confidence which worried me a little.
I worry not because of his inadequacy but about his over-protectiveness. But I trusted him and left everything to him. They also offered to fill in others about it, which made me feel grateful, one less thing to worry about.

The next day, I announced my plans to my teachers. They were not happy but accepted my decision. We have not gone too deep into our lessons, and they suggested it is better to take a break earlier than in the later stages of training.
I also called to meet the principal and teacher at the academy to discuss my break. After the class, Lady Edith, Teacher Melanie, and Christoper gathered in Pricipal's chamber.
