Chapter 15 Fated Meeting
I was very excited about everything. I was moving my head so much that it started to hurt my neck. I would stare at tall building, curiously studying everything through the car window. The car, is not a magical device but worked through science. It ran by itself, which was surprising. I thought it was rare, but there were many such vehicles on the road.
There was a constant flow of people of different colors; it was a vibrant city full of vitality. I would ask questions from time to time and Mother would explain to me about them. In a constant barrage of questions, she was helpless.
" Slow down Sami, I will answer everything. I cann't do it all at once right." She said helplessly.
" Yes, mother, sorry I just got excited. It all new to me. There is so much to learn." I said apologetically.
We went all throughout the car ride discussing different things. It was the most fun time for me. Father would educate about different street signs, different shops, and whatnots. I was constantly absorbing everything both from inside and from the system.
We soon entered a sparsely populated road and drove through it. There were lush greens on both side of road. We rode through different big mansions but were still going deeper into the community. I have heard from my seniors brothers that big mansions were status symbols and big nobles like Dukes would build mansions so large that it would take several hours to circle the area. I knew that father and mother were rich, but I guess, miscalculated by a big proportion. They were no nobles in this world, right?
Soon our car stopped in front of a gate which was big as a house. Several men were standing there; as soon as they saw the car, they put their hands on small devices on their neck and mumbled something. The door opened and all I could say was that there was a different world behind it.
There were colorful flowers all around a big stone statue of a man; lines made of water were dancing all around it making a small pound at its feet. It majestically stood tall, taller than several people combined, and looked so life like. If I didn't know about the no-magic world, I would have believed it was done with magic.
We went around it and I got out of the car following my parents. Mother was holding my hand, leading me toward the huge mansion in the middle. There stood two rows of people wearing matching clothes; one side was all male, and the other was all female; they were lightly bowing, probably waiting for us.
At the end of the tunnel there were a group of people, two elder couple standing side by side with two young people, one boy and one girl. They were all looking at me funnily, which made my little embarrassed. I tightened my grip, which made my mother look toward me.
She said, " Don't worry Sami, it will be okay. I have already told you, everything about them. Right? Just be yourself, you will be fine."
" Yes, If they give you a hard time, Father will take care of it. " Father added, and took my other hand.
I nodded, " I will do my best Mother, Father."
This made them smile from ear to ear. We went together, passing through a sea of people, when suddenly everyone said, " Welcome home, Master Robert, Miss Laura and young master Samnuel."
I was surprised but kept quiet. Father and mother, nodded, strode toward the senior couple while leading me.
One from the elder male said, " Robert, Laura. Welcome back, so this is the mysterious boy you were talking about all day for the past few days, huh. " He said, scanning me from top to bottom and nodding.
" Husband don't scare the kid with your scary face. I still remember how our children would often cry when you played with them when they were kids. He is so cute dont bully him unecessarily. " Madam beside him reminded him.
He humped, and looked away. Everyone smiled at the display. Father began to introduce everyone to me.
"The scary old man in the middle is your grandfather, Kenneth Rothchild; the lady beside him is your grandmother, Margaret Rothchild. The older couple to their left are your grand-uncle, Donald Rothchild and his wife, your grand-aunt, Patricia Rothchild. These two are my siblings, Peter, and May. You can call them Uncle and Aunt, respectively. The old man in black behind them is Arthur, You can call be grandpa Arthur if you like." father explained.
I took a mental note of everything and matched their name with their face along with the relationship and said, " Grandpa Kenneth, grandma, Margaret, grand-uncle, Donald, grand-aunt, Patricia, Uncle Peter, Aunt May and Grandpa Arthur. Hello, I am Samuel, nice to meet you all." I bowed at the end to give respect. Respecting the elders is the first lesson that I have learned; I have presented myself formally, so as to not embarrasse my parents.
I was still facing down and all I could hear was silence. I looked up to see shocked faces on everybody's faces except for my parents. Father and mother were making smug faces.
" Brother, are you sure he is 10 years old? Did you trained him for this while in the hospital ?" Mary said.
" Yes, Robert, don't teach kids silly things to just make a good impression." Patricia added.
Margret nodded and said , " Yes. He is young, we should take things slow."
" No, no; you all are wrong. We didn't teach Samuel anything. My son is naturally very smart. I just mentioned your name a few days ago, why should I pressure my cute son to do anything ? Even if you don't accept him, it will not change my mind. I don't need to do petty tricks. humph" Mother tilted her head high, looking at them smugly.
" Yes, Samuel is clever. I remember, I mentioned this before when I visited home a few days ago." father was acting innocent, but you could clearly see a faint smile on his face. He was showing off.
Everyone began to pile on my parents because of this. They unanimously said, " No you did not mention anything." The whole situation shocked them. then begun the another questioning session. My parents reported everything obediently and all the information doctors gave were handed down to grandpa Arthur. He was in charge of managing the estate.
We all went inside; the whole interior anywhere I could see was dazzling. There were many paintings hung up in the corridor. I was walking beside my mother, following and looking around at everything. Different gems were inlaid all over the frames of the decorations. After a few steps we entered the room with bright lights. I involuntarily looked up to see a huge glass structure with different light sources lighting the big room. I stood still and watched the eloquent scene.
" This chandelier is a family treasure, It took whole ten years to build and place that high. I have heard Mary mention it. " Mother said.
I nodded and went inside to sit beside mother and father.
Aunt Mary squeezed between father and I and began talking.
" Sami, you look just like an angel, Did you dye your hair? your face looks like a girl, I always wanted to have a little sister. what is your favorite food--------" She barraged me with questions.
I answered her one by one and repeatedly said I am a boy. I still don't know what I look like fully. I will examine myself later and find out why everyone always thinks I am a girl, the first time we meet. I've always been frustrated by this reason.
Everyone asked different questions; I answered it to the best of my abilities, but everyone felt that I lacked basic knowledge about the world. We were talking for hours at this point. It was getting late, so Grandpa Arthur urged the family to have dinner. We had a harmonious dinner. I was sleepy at this point; It was a long day after all. So mother carried me to my room and I fell asleep
