Li Shunan soon came out with a box of medical supplies. At the same time, he switched on the light under the roof and the courtyard had clearly become much brighter.
Seeing that he had come out, Jiang Lingzhi retracted her hand even though she was about to press the call-back button. She then placed her cellphone back into her backpack and stood up straight.
Li Shunan walked over and glanced at the chair behind her. “Sit.”
His tone was extremely lazy, perhaps because he was tired. He would never speak more than what was required.
“Okay.” Jiang Lingzhi took two steps back, sat down on the chair, and when she looked up again, he had already placed the ointment in front of her.
His beautiful hand was bony, and his skin was fair.
Jiang Lingzhi took the ointment from his hand and looked up at him. “Thank you.”
“What are you thanking me for?” Li Shunan felt a little amused and continued to stare at her condescendingly while standing at the side. “Little kid, you’re quite bold, aren’t you afraid?”
Jiang Lingzhi paused when she was applying ointment and asked in puzzlement, “What should I be afraid of?”
Li Shunan frowned a little and bent down, his arm resting on the back of the chair behind her. His aggressive masculine aura was towering over her, and his breath was close to her.
“You’re a girl, aren’t you?”
Jiang Lingzhi stared at him, dumbfounded as she did not understand what he meant.
Li Shunan spoke slowly, and his voice was particularly low and pleasant in the night. “Hasn’t your family told you that it’s inappropriate to go to a stranger’s home at night?”
His voice was very close to her, and it was a little hoarse because of the smoke, seemingly gently plucking at the strings in her ears.
It was quiet in the courtyard, and they could vaguely hear the sounds of people passing by in the alley that was rather far away.
Jiang Lingzhi finally realized what he meant.
The tip of her ear was getting warm for some reason, and she felt that he was making her sound like a loose woman. She muttered softly, “I don’t go home with just any man.”
Li Shunan squinted a little, the corners of his lips curved up like he was smiling. He then leaned in a little closer to her. “Are you doubting me? Do you need to verify it?”
Jiang Lingzhi blinked and was a little slow to realize what he meant.
‘What’s there to verify? His gender?’
Due to the fact that he was getting closer and closer to her, Jiang Lingzhi was forced to lean her body backward. “That’s not what I meant.”
From this angle, she could vaguely see his toned chest muscles from the gaps between the buttons of his shirt.
Jiang Lingzhi suddenly felt that the summer night seemed a bit hot and dry. Even her throat had turned dry.
Li Shunan looked down at her and his well-defined features were caught in between light and darkness. His breath was in her face as he asked, “What do you mean?”
Jiang Lingzhi’s clenched her fingers subconsciously, and she couldn’t come up with a proper explanation. Hence, she could only tell him the truth. “I think you are a good person.”
“You think?” Li Shunan sneered and continued, “How can a little kid judge a stranger well?”
Jiang Lingzhi remained silent.
‘Why does he insist that I’m a little kid?’
The boy did not seem to want to hear her answer. Instead, he slowly pulled a piece of gauze from the box of medical supplies and raised his hand to press the gauze onto her fair knee.
He was not exactly gentle with her. Jiang Lingzhi gasped and quickly blew on the wound on her knee. “Why did you apply so much force? It hurts.”
Li Shunan looked down and stared at her with an insincere smile and a puzzled gaze. “I thought you’d think I’m too gentle..”
