Chapter 59 The Duke Of Hethburn
"To think he would share the name of my avatar, that too with a such a pathetic first name," Zack said while brushing his hands.
Around him, more than 20 dead bodies lay on the ground, each belonging to one of the bandits.
Their leader?
He had almost pooped his pants when he had seen the boy taking out a sword which had soon started burning with bright blue flames.
With a single slash, Zack had cut the throats of every single bandit which had left the leader beyond stunned and mind blow that he couldn't even move his body.
"Now, what did you say your name was?" Zack asked as he pointed the sword near the man's neck. The bandit leader suddenly woke up from his slumber when he felt the heat around his neck.
"L-L-Lin Donger…" He replied as Zack sighed and raised his sword.
The bandit leader was ready to die when all of a sudden, he screamed.
"That's your punishment for sharing the Lin name with me," Zack spoke as he put the sword back in his inventory and saw the leader screaming as though his children had just been killed.
Which in a way, was true. After all, he had made sure that he would never be able to have children again.
Now that the matter was done, Zack decided to not speak much about it.
"Now, tell me where the black market is or I will cut all of your body parts one by one." Zack looked at the bandit leader with a sadistic grin as the man shut his mouth up and nodded.
The bandit leader could feel the pure sadistic personality hidden behind the smile and he decided that it was better to lead the noble to the black market than suffer losing another limb.
Zack, on the other hand, couldn't believe that he was able to pull that off without actually meaning to do it. Maybe it was because he had seen Ash do the same expression numerous times whenever they were interrogating a person.
'There are some bad memories there.' He shuddered before he started following the bandits' leader.
Even if he was led into a trap, Zack didn't worry about anything since he knew that he was powerful enough to bring numerous people to their knees.
He, however, stayed wary since he knew that he could be hit with a nerf at any moment and he liked himself as the overpowered player.
The bandit leader on the other hand was wondering why the viscount was staying quiet behind his back.
'Could he be planning to stab me from behind if I don't hurry up?' The man immediately doubled his pace as Zack started to follow him quicker.
They were moving through a set of tight alleys without end before the man stopped in front of brick covered dead end. He then tapped the brick in some weird order before a small hole started to appear in front of him.
He raised his hand to wipe the sweat off his forehead as the hole started to widen. An entrance appeared in the middle of the brick wall.
'Why am I feeling this hot?' The man asked himself with a confused expression before he suddenly remembered the blue flames that the noble boy had used.
He suddenly turned back to see Zack standing there with blue flames burning in the palm of his right hand.
"Goodnight Donger." He said with a small smile before he tossed the flames at the man as they swallowed him.
In the blink of an eye, the man had been burned to ashes as Zack stepped towards the entrance while keeping the flames ignited. As he stepped inside, the area behind him closed up as he was standing beside a tent.
After looking around, he realized that the entire thing was underground which was surprising considering how many earth magic users were present in the kingdom.
'And all of them are being focused on the mines and no one can tell what's happening right below their feet.' Zack looked at the tent beside him to see that it was empty.
He then started walking forward while drawing the hood across his face. As soon as he walked a few meters, he started seeing many tents on either side of the place.
There were signs saying that they were selling mythic ranked weapons, armor, spells, and a whole lot of other stuff. But one glance at the items and Zack could tell that most of them were fake.
After roaming around the entire place, he finally found the thing he had been looking for.
In the center of the underground black market was a shop that was selling all kinds of jewels and all of them were real. Except they were priced twice as much from the above-ground market yet many people were coming to buy them.
The horde outside the shop was large enough that if the people shopping for other things were counted, they still couldn't beat the horde.
"It's strange how people treat a jewel more preciously than they treat other humans." A voice spoke from beside Zack as he turned around to see a person wearing pure white robes standing beside him.
The person didn't keep his face hidden and anyone in the entire market could have seen him and reported him.
But as soon as one of the people standing outside the store saw the man, he screamed and started running away.
All of the other people had similar expressions when they saw the man and they ran one after the other.
Zack was confused because of their actions so he used his inspection skill on the man.
[ Error! Inspect cannot be used on another person. ]
'Not this again…' Zack thought with a sigh before something happened in front of him.
[ New information has been gathered. The person has been identified to be the duke of Hethburn. ]
'So that's why they are running away.' Zack thought as he looked at the young duke standing beside him.
He had jet black hair with ocean blue eyes that were currently focused on the people that were running.
For some reason, Zack felt as though he and the duke both showing up at the same time was no coincidence.
But what he didn't know was that Jonathan had personally sent a message to the Duke of Hethburn and had told him about Zack's arrival and quest.
That was why the black-haired duke had decided to check the black market out and see how Zack would perform.
The young duke had known about the corruption for a long time but he had turned a blind eye for a certain reason. Usually, the nobles weren't greedy when it came to jewels and money.
They had more than enough of it.
He instead felt as though someone else was pulling the strings behind their backs and were controlling them.
If he had gone ahead and had caught the nobles, the person behind them would have just shifted his strings. That was why the young duke had kept quiet about it and had not even told Jonathan about it.
In his heart, he only thought the best for his people.
But when he heard that someone who had the spear made from the world tree was coming into his city, he decided that it was the perfect time to strike back.
"I know who you are but we will talk about that later. Would you help me catch all of them without creating a commotion?" The young duke asked with a smile which made Zack narrow his eyes.
He could tell that if the duke wanted, he could singlehandedly go ahead and wipe out the entire place. But he was there to test the boy's ability and Zack was not going to disappoint him.
"Spirit Spear Chastiefol, second form, Daggers of Sky." 150 daggers appeared in front of the white-haired boy as he launched all of them towards the horde of people trying to escape.
He carefully made the dagger go towards their neck and hit them in a spot that will knock them unconscious but not kill them.
And a few minutes, all of those who had tried to run away were lying on the ground unconscious.
The duke looked at this with a satisfied smile before he raised both of his hands in the air and directly started drawing symbols on the air.
'He is creating a formation.' Zack thought with a surprised look as the duke finished what he was drawing.
A few seconds later, a blue-colored circle expanded beneath Zack, the duke, and the unconscious people.
And a moment later, all of them vanished.
The remaining people had been holding their breath while those who had the means of leaving the place had already vanished with all of their stuff.
"Is he gone?" The owner of the jewel selling shop asked loud while wiping the sweat off his forehead.
He had been selling illegal jewels in bulk which the nobles had been supplying him with.
Almost his entire stock would be gone in a week but today, he had a near heart attack experience when he had seen the duke.
After all, the duke was the ruler of the Hethburn city and the governor of the eastern region of the Eizenburgh kingdom.
He had been even more shocked when the hood-covered figure had summoned the knives and had started using them to make all of the running people fall unconscious.
'Good thing I managed to retain my wits and stayed here.' The man thought with a sigh as he got above the counter. 'Now I should move-
The man never got to finish his thought as a blue-colored formation suddenly activated in the entire place.
Looking at the formation, the remaining people raised their middle fingers towards the ceiling.
And unknown to the people above the ground, the hidden black market had been completely burned.
