Chapter 28 - Forgotten Memories
The continuing silence made Anya's eyes feel even heavier. Her eyelids kept dropping even though she tried hard to stay up. Her big fight with her father and Natali in the cafe seemed to have sucked her energy dry. Plus, Aiden's anger left her feeling terrified the whole way.
It felt like all her strength that day was completely exhausted. In the end, she gave up on the drowsiness and fell asleep ...
She fell asleep like a child so that she did not realize the situation around her. Her head fell to the right and left, before finally falling onto Aiden's shoulder. Aiden could feel something touching his shoulder so he immediately opened his eyes. When he turned his head, Aiden saw the woman beside him was fast asleep leaning on his shoulder.
He took a deep breath when he saw her.
He was angry with this woman, but this woman fell asleep!
However, when he saw Anya's exhausted face, his heart immediately melted. He knew that today was a long day for Anya. He could imagine how disappointed Anya was when she realized Deny's indifference to her. He could also imagine how angry and upset he would be when the woman was humiliated in public.
Aiden let Anya's head rest on his shoulder. He did not wake her up, allowing her to sleep comfortably on his shoulder.
When the car passed a speed bump, Anya gasped a little, after which, she fell back asleep on Aiden's shoulder. Meanwhile, Aiden's hand went up to keep the woman's head from falling.
"Pak Abdi, just drive slowly." Said Aiden quietly, trying not to wake Anya.
Hearing his master's order, Abdi felt a little confused. Aiden never told Abdi to slow down his vehicle. Aiden had a very busy schedule so he had to get into places as fast as possible. His master also didn't want to spend time in the middle of the road and wanted to be able to go home as quickly as possible. This was the first command Abdi had heard while he was working for Aiden.
However, after glancing at the rearview mirror of his car, Abdi realized why Aiden had ordered this. He could see Anya sleeping soundly on Aiden's shoulder, while Aiden closed his eyes again, resting his eyes from the excessive sunlight.
Apparently, the master wanted his wife to sleep peacefully and comfortably. He didn't want Abdi to drive too fast and make Anya wake up if there was a speed bump or anything that could surprise her.
"Yes sir." Said Abdi, trying to hide his smile.
Harris also glanced at the back seat to see the condition. After he confirmed that his master's wife was asleep, he said to Aiden, "Sir, I have the information you wanted."
Aiden opened his eyes when Harris said that. He knew that the information Harris wanted to convey must be information about Anya. His assistant was waiting for the right time to tell him the information. He could not convey the information in front of Anya so that when he saw Anya asleep, Harris knew that this was the right time.
"Madam had an accident on Valentine's Day. The accident caused her to be seriously injured and had to be hospitalized. She was in a coma for one week." Harris said in a low voice. He also tried to lower his voice so that Anya didn't wake up from her sleep.
"Coma? For one week?" Aiden looked at Harris, then turned his head to see the woman leaning on his shoulder. He saw the woman's mouth slightly open while she was fast asleep. Her hair continued to fall and slid onto her face. Aiden reached out his hand to tidy the thread of her hair, tucking them gently into Anya's ear. His movement did not wake Anya at all.
'It seems, Anya is really exhausted…'
Aiden never thought that this woman who leaned on his shoulder had been in a coma for one week. Did Anya forget about him after she woke up from her coma?
"The doctor who treated him said that after waking up from a coma, she couldn't remember what happened or how she got injured. She can only remember that that day she was picking flowers. That's the last memory she has." Harris continued, "She can't remember what happened when she disappeared until she woke up."
Harris reported it while watching Aiden's reaction closely. As usual, Aiden's face remained so calm and unreadable that Harris couldn't tell what he was thinking. However, Harris was an intuitive person and had extraordinary sensitivity.
"Sir, the accident that happened to Mrs. Anya at the same time you were injured ..."
Harris grew up with Aiden since he was a child. He always accompanied Aiden so that he could become his trusted assistant. Even after becoming his assistant, Harris was never far from Aiden. But strangely, Harris didn't know Anya at all. He never saw Anya with Aiden.
However, his master acted as if he knew Anya.
If they both knew each other, how could Harris, who was always beside Aiden, not know it?
"Did the doctor tell her why she lost her memory?" asked Aiden.
Finally, he found out why Anya didn't remember him. The woman was not pretending, nor did she forget it on purpose. It turned out that Anya was once injured, causing her memory to be lost.
"The doctor said it was possible that at that time Madame had experienced something so bad and painful that she could not endure the pain. Such trauma caused someone to try to run away so that in the end the Madam lost some of her memory. Or rather, her brain erase those memories." Harris explained.
"Is there a way to recover her memory?" Asked Aiden in a low voice.
"She could remember it anytime and anywhere, but there is also the possibility that the memory will never come back. The doctor said that hypnosis therapy could also be done so that she could force back her memory. Do I need to find a psychiatrist?" Harris asked.
Aiden thought for a moment, but in the end, he shook his head, "If the memory is so bad that she wants to forget it, just let it be forgotten. We can start over from scratch…" Aiden replied softly as he looked at the woman who was still sound asleep beside him.
Every now and then, in her sleep Anya looked uncomfortable as if she was dreaming something bad. However, when Aiden's hand went up to gently stroke her hair, or just caressed her head, she would calm down again.
"Sir, Mrs. Anya was with you when you were injured, right?" Harris's intuition said that. From earlier, he felt the question lingered in his heart so he dared to ask.
Aiden shut his mouth tightly. He did not answer Harris's question as if the question was a wind then ...
