Chapter 5: The Slap
Chapter 5
Qi Amah knelt on the ground begging Doctor Li, Doctor Li looked helplessly to his attendant Tang Yang, Tang Yang said awkwardly, "Doctor, why not try?"
Doctor Li sneered, "Try? For a dying man, if I take over, it would damage my reputation."
Hearing this, Qi Amah cried so hard that she almost fainted, gasping and crying, "My poor grandson!"
Lv Ya came over to comfort her and helped Qi Amah sit aside.
Attendant Tang Yang said to the doctor, "The child is truly suffering, why not give him some medicine to relieve his pain. We won't claim you ever treated him."
As Tang Yang spoke, he tucked some silver into the doctor's sleeve.
Only then did Doctor Li say, "If it's just for pain relief it's fine, but pain relief is useless, he still has to go. There are no miracle workers in the Prince's estate that can save him."
"Yes, yes, yes!" Tang Yang just hoped Brother Huo could go more comfortably, the poor child that he had watched grow up.
Just as Doctor Li was about to go in and write a prescription, the door slammed shut and the latch fell into place.
Lv Ya recognized the flash of robe she saw before the door closed, and cried out, "It's the Princess!"
When Qi Amah heard it was the Princess who had gone in, she was heartbroken and furious. Like a mother lion gone mad, she rushed up and pounded on the door, "Open up, open up, what are you trying to do?"
Yuan Qingling's voice came from inside, not loud, speaking little, just three words, "He can be saved."
Doctor Li sneered on the spot, "He only has half a breath left, he can be saved? What miracle worker does the Prince's estate have?"
Qi Amah's body went limp, she looked at Tang Yang in despair, "Master Tang, I beg you, have them break down the door. I want to be with him, he's afraid!"
Tang Yang had not expected the Princess to come at this critical juncture, really stirring up trouble.
It seemed she had not taken the Prince's words to heart.
Since this was the case, he would have no choice but to report to the Prince.
In a deep voice he ordered, "Lv Ya, go get the Prince. If the Prince is not there, we cannot be rude to the Princess. Call some more people to break down the door."
"Yes!" Lv Ya was also furious, and immediately ran off.
Tang Yang then had the doctor write a prescription on a rock in the yard, to send someone to grab medicine.
Inside, Yuan Qingling heard the commotion outside. She only had a limited time.
Brother Huo was already dazed and kept crying that he was in pain.
Yuan Qingling looked at his wound, pus coming from the corners of his eyes, his whole eye swollen from infection.
She opened the medicine box, took out an injection, first injected him with antibiotics, then took out a scalpel and iodine disinfectant, sterilized, and then began to drain the pus and blood.
With no anesthetic, forcing drainage, the child could not stand the pain and began to scream miserably.
Outside, when Qi Amah heard her grandson's screams, she slammed her head against the door in rage, cursing, "Whatever you want to do, do it to me. If you torture him, even if I die I will not let you go."
"Too cruel!" Even the doctor could not help but shake his head at the screams.
Tang Yang was both angry and heartbroken, but afraid Qi Amah would injure herself, so he went up to hold her back.
Lv Ya quickly brought the Prince Chu over.
As soon as Prince Chu entered the courtyard gate, he heard Brother Huo's miserable screams from inside.
When Qi Amah saw the Prince arrive, she fell to her knees with a thud, weeping, "Your Highness, save my grandson!"
The Prince's eyes darkened, his face iron blue as he said, "Come, break down the door!"
Several guards of the household immediately came forward to smash down the door. Together in just three or four strikes the door was smashed open.
Qi Amah rushed in, seeing Yuan Qingling holding a knife, the ground covered in cotton swabs stained with blood, she rushed over to shield him, "You're taking my life, you're taking my life!"
"Granny, it hurts, it hurts!" Brother Huo's whole body trembled as he used all his strength to grab Qi Amah's hand, crying out.
Yuan Qingling had already finished treating him, and had wanted to bandage him, but saw there was no time left.
She picked up the medicine box, and was suddenly enveloped in a shadow. As she looked up, a slap landed heavily on her face, the ringing in her ears was deafening, and her cheek felt numb and stinging for a while before the burning pain set in.
