Chapter 104 104. The Dragon
It would be even stranger if Lucius walked away from such an attack unscathed.
But although Lucius was still combat ready thanks to [Ultimate Fire Resistance], the crowd of spectators didn't know this.
And from the distance they were watching, these scalds may as well be third degree burns. In their opinion, Lucius was already half-dead and such a half dead man just stood up. With each passing second, he was starting to look less like human and more like an undead zombie.
More than admiration, something about such freakish resilience was enough to put fear into the hearts of even the third years.
Veronica the entire time watched and saw Lucius's desperate appearance.
If before it felt like her heart was bleeding, now it felt like it was being torn apart!
'Stop.'
'Please, just stop.'
She didn't care anymore.
She didn't care about her family's reputation or about her pride or even Lucius's promise
She couldn't let Lucius kill himself because of her.
Louis looked at the persistent Lucius with a visible frown and asked.
"Is it really so serious that you would nearly kill yourself over a thankless task? Give up, apologise and swallow your pride. The strength you have shown is clearly not worthy of the Beaumonts, much less to even challenge the Caldwells."
Hearing this, Lucius jus scoffed
Whether I'm worthy of the Caldwells or Beaumont's not doesn't mean shit.
As Lucius spoke, he spat out a mouth of bloody phlegm, causing Louis's face to turn a little scary, but Lucius didn't care
"I couldn't care less about your family's honour. The only reason I'm here is because I made a promise I would do this and I'll keep it to the end. Listen carefully, Even if you fry me to ashes today, I won't break my word!"
As Lucius spoke his words of conviction, he stood up straight and by chance managed to lock eyes with Veronica but after seeing her tearful and panicked appearance Lucius changed from his ferocious glare back to the nonchalant smile he always showed when he patted her head as if he was silently reassuring her.
It was just that contrary to the desired effect, when Veronica saw Lucius's battered and bruised body smiling, she couldn't hold it any more
"Ah... hick..."
Before she even realised it, tears started falling from her eyes.
She quickly tried to wipe them away, but the more she tried, the more tears began to fall until her face was an utter mess

The unending stream of notifications bombarded Lucius's mind, causing him to laugh at the ridiculousness of the situation
Seeing Lucius laughing wildly, Louis just shook his head. In his eyes, Lucius had just lost his mind in denial. Now he was just a crazed madman.
Lucius couldn't care about Louis's thoughts and just shook his head
'I really am a piece of trash,' thought Lucius to himself.
He didn't think he was in danger, but right now Veronica was out there balling over him
'But since it's like this, I think I should end things quickly.'
Louis walked over to the absent minded Lucius with a sword glowing with mana.
He didn't know what monstrous magic resistance Lucius had, but he would finish him off with close combat to end things for good
He didn't believe that Lucius could still resist with his battered body that could barely stand.
'I guess it's over?'
Now Louis thought he had won and because of that, he had inevitably let his guard down and that's exactly what Lucius had been waiting for.
Lucius knew his Dragon Berserk state couldn't last long and with its intimidating appearance it would be impossible for Louis to engage him in close combat and if Louis ran away the entire fight and waited for his short Dragon Berserk state to run out, Louis wouldn't even have to do anymore, the terrifying backlash would be enough to exhaust him.
To avoid this, Lucius had to play into Louis' ego, and let him dominate the fight until he could draw him close enough for the final blow, like a poisonous snake hidden in the bushes waiting for its prey to come in so it could pounce.
Seeing Louis' guard drop, Lucius didn't wait anymore
Dragon Berserk!
With just a thought, Lucius's body shook like thunder as countless currents of red electric rage energy exploded around him.
People could only watch on in horror as these raging electric currents suddenly organised forming into countless electric, flickering scales as they finally got a good look at what was happening.
Horns were composed of pure rage energy on its head, terrifying crimson scales and claws and crimson pupils that seemed to explode, leaving his eyes completely mad with rage.
The spectators were all left speechless!
Whether it was Alice, Camilla, Mr Hoffman or even the protagonist, Landon himself! They all showed expressions of extreme shock at Lucius's appearance.
Only one purple-haired beauty remained looking at the scene without any sense of shock or surprise, but instead a dazzlingly beautiful smile.
The people were all stunned by the sudden transformation, but the most shocked at all would have to be the primary victim of all this, poor old Louis.
He just saw a blinding explosion of crimson lightning before looking into a pair of furious crimson reptilian eyes, leaving him stunned.
But by the time Louis came to his senses, he realised something was wrong
'W-where is this?'
Louis felt his environment change and was left greatly disorientated and when he looked up, his heart stopped.
It wasn't that he was in darkness, but he was instead inside of the shadow of a monster.
He was right in front of the jaws of a gigantic crimson dragon, but what made it horrifying was that its truck-sized eyes seemed to be filled only with a raging madness as the berserk aura of this overlord-level creature smothered him.
Within seconds, Louis felt like his heart exploded and hunched over, clutching his chest
