Chapter 397 - Confess to Them
Chapter 397: Confess to Them
Yun Xiangxiang only felt slightly less angry when she saw Song Mian admitting defeat. “Do that next time, and I’m going to have you kneel on the durians.”
“Aren’t you worried my legs will break?” Song Mian was heartbroken.
Noticing he was going to feign agony again, Yun Xiangxiang replied mercilessly, “If your legs will break from kneeling on durians, it will tarnish your name as a great doctor.”
Song Mian stopped his car the next moment. “Go. I can fix it.”
Yun Xiangxiang turned to look at the serious Song Mian before she unbuckled her seat belt and kissed him fiercely. “Go home. I’ll let you go because it’s your first time.”
“Say you love me.” Song Mian refused to drive, looking like a stubborn child who wouldn’t move if Yun Xiangxiang didn’t say it.
Yun Xiangxiang was annoyed. “I love you, you little kid. I don’t want to part with you. There, happy?”
“More or less.” Song Mian smiled as he happily drove back to their home.
Yun Xiangxiang called Hou Chengjue to tell him she was fine before looking at Yun Lin and called her parents as per routine. Only after that did she wash up and rest.
When she got to campus the next day, she heard that the youngest professor would come to lecture on Friday at the medical school. After being one year of Song Mian’s girlfriend, she found out Song Mian had a lot of titles.
“He’s a double Ph.D. holder at twenty-seven. Oh my god, is he even human? Do you guys think he’s bald?” They were discussing it in the dorm.
Song Mian’s East Asian age reckoning [1] was twenty-eight, but most places abandoned that system now, so Song Mian’s ID only showed him as twenty-seven.
Since their campus promoted this talk, the news still flew through the whole campus even though their school was a bit of distance away from the medical school. There wasn’t any photo of Song Mian, though.
“I just checked online. He’s real, but the introduction is simple, and there aren’t any photos.” Feng Xiaolu sounded down.
“He’s not going to teach us, so why are you so excited for?” Ma Linlin was speechless.
“I’m just admiring top students and geniuses. I won’t even care if they’re from our school.” Tao Manni snorted. “The Ph.D. holders for our course can be surmised in three words: Short, Ugly, and Hunched.”
“You just love medical Ph.D. holders, don’t you?” Ma Linlin rolled her eyes.
“I think medical students have that kind of sexy, unapproachable air to them.” Ma Linlin clasped her hands in prayer, her imagination running wild.
“Hey, hey, hey, isn’t your boyfriend a medical student, Xiangxiang? You haven’t shown us his photo!” Tao Manni finally remembered this important topic.
They knew Yun Xiangxiang had a suitor when classes restarted, but then she fell in love after that, looking energetic and in love every day.
They felt embarrassed to ask for his photo back then, but now that they were good friends, they had to know what their friend’s boyfriend looked like.
Yun Xiangxiang thought of how they complained to her of being unfair by only bringing Li Xiangling and Song Meng to France. When she thought of how Song Mian was starting to publicize their relationship to the point where he handled her details, she didn’t hide it from them since she didn’t want to hurt their friendship.
“Ahem. To be honest, the bald guy you said is my boyfriend.” Yun Xiangxiang looked at the closed door of their room.
“Huh? You got a bald guy as your boyfriend, Xiangxiang?” Tao Manni was flabbergasted.
Ma Linlin hurled a book at her. “You were the one who said he’s bald. Do you think he doesn’t know how to take care of himself? He’s a medical Ph.D. holder.
All the doctors in big hospitals looked young and healthy unless their skills were mediocre. Someone like Song Mian wouldn’t be bald.
“Oh my god, it’s so romantic. He can’t be here just for you, right?” Feng Xiaolu was already imagining a romance drama.
“You can say so.” Yun Xiangxiang was a little embarrassed.
“Come on. I need to see his face. I have to be slapped back into reality! This sounds like something straight out of a fairy tale!” Tao Manni couldn’t accept it, for this was a fairy tale in real life.
“I don’t think you should see that,” Yun Xiangxiang gently dissuaded her.
“No! I only accept two things: Disillusionment or jealousy!” Tao Manni gazed at Yun Xiangxiang passionately.
Yun Xiangxiang unlocked her phone, found the picture they took back in El Dorado, and handed it to Tao Manni.
Tao Manni stood rooted in spot as if thunderstruck, looking like how Song Meng did back then.
Feng Xiaolu quickly huddled closer and was stunned for a few moments when she saw Song Mian’s face. “Oh my god, I thought nobody could match up to you in looks in this world. It looks like my imagination isn’t wild enough...”
Yun Xiangxiang was as gorgeous as all the female protagonists in every novel Feng Xiaolu had read.
Because of her bias, she thought all the male protagonists in her imagination couldn’t match up to Yun Xiangxiang, but now she knew her imagination was weak.
Ma Linlin looked at his photo, piqued by her curiosity, and even she praised. “He’s handsome. Sorry for the loss of words.”
“When are you going to introduce him to us, Xiangxiang?” Tao Manni snapped out of it and grabbed Yun Xiangxiang. “I want to see him in the flesh, in the flesh!” she pleaded.
“That might be difficult...” Yun Xiangxiang was in a dilemma, for Tao Manni was different from Song Meng.
They had always been hanging out together, including Zhu Yuan, Chu Ting, Yang Qi, and his friends. She couldn’t just introduce him to the girls and ignore Yang Qi and everyone else. They would feel upset if they knew, saying that Yun Xiangxiang gave preferential treatment.
“Just come to school two days later if you want to see him.” Ma Linlin quickly helped Yun Xiangxiang out of trouble.
Tao Manni wasn’t emotionally stupid. She was just excited, but now that she had calmed down, she knew it was inappropriate too, and she sat down dejectedly. “We have classes in the afternoon two days later. The medical school is far from our school. I can’t even get the chance to meet him...”
They were all in Qingdao University, but they were in different places.
“You will get the chance eventually. No need to rush.” Feng Xiaolu wanted to see him too, but she still consoled Tao Manni.
Tao Manni put her hands under her chin, looking at Yun Xiangxiang quietly.
Yun Xiangxiang was puzzled at her look. “What are you looking at? Is there something on my face?”
“I’m thinking how beautiful your children will be,” Tao Manni shot straight.
“If you get married, Xiangxiang, you have to have more children for the sake of society. Don’t let your genes go to waste.” Feng Xiaolu was more excited than Tao Manni was. “Your babies will be geniuses with how smart you two are. Oh my, I’m looking forward to it. What should I do?”
Yun Xiangxiang was mildly annoyed.
Can someone drag these crazy roommates away?
“My parents aren’t particularly good-looking either,” Yun Xiangxiang said seriously. “Even if the couple is beautiful, their child might not be. Genetics is a magical thing. Get that into your heads.”
The same thing went for intelligence. Just because the parents were smart didn’t mean their child would be, and the opposite was true.
