Chapter 291 - It was Set Up Long Ago
Chapter 291: It was Set Up Long Ago
“Keane, I am so glad you could come,” Faye’s father liked Qi Jun. He greeted Qi Jun warmly.
So Qi Jun’s English name is Keane. This was the first time Yun Xiangxiang had heard of it.
“Mr. Cardicra, let me introduce you to someone. She’s my partner for the evening.” Qi Jun was close to Faye’s father. “Yun.”
Faye looked at Yun Xiangxiang. “I might be wrong, but I think I have seen this gorgeous lady before.”
“On TV, maybe. Yun’s a Chinese actress,” Qi Jun continued amicably.
“Ah, I remember now. When Amber bought a sports car, I saw this lovely lady’s picture,” Faye’s father finally remembered.
Mr. Cardicra might be referring to the car she endorsed with Lu Jin back in Milan. Her photo was probably in the things given along with the sale.
Her photo was probably on the brochure. Yun Xiangxiang didn’t expect this coincidence to happen though.
“Hello, Mr. Eric, it is an honor to meet you,” Yun Xiangxiang greeted politely.
“Hello, lovely lady,” Eric was a gentleman. He introduced his daughter to Yun Xiangxiang. “This is my daughter, Faye. She knows how to speak Mandarin. And she loves China very much.”
“Miss Yun, it’s a pleasure,” Faye extended her hand. She communicated in Mandarin, using Chinese customs.
“The pleasure is all mine, Miss Faye,” Yun Xiangxiang made a polite dead fish handshake.
“Faye, entertain your guests,” Eric reminded Faye and went to entertain other guests.
“Do please come with me,” Faye beckoned Qi Jun and Yun Xiangxiang.
Faye was in a black evening gown. Her brown, wavy hair was tied up in a bun and held in place with a hairclip embedded with diamonds. She wore earrings and necklaces that belonged to the same series as the hair clip.
Faye led them to another huge room. Everyone in there was under thirty. They formed groups and chatted with their friends. As the door was heavy, it made a huge noise as it was opened. Every time it did, everyone would be attracted to the door.
“Yun!” Wilson did not expect to see Yun Xiangxiang here. He trotted over.
When Yun Xiangxiang saw him, she reflexively looked for that girl. Fortunately, Doris wasn’t here.
She didn’t want to run into another problem when she wasn’t done with Faye. Yun Xiangxiang wasn’t that powerful.
“You guys know each other?” Faye didn’t expect Yun Xiangxiang to know Wilson.
“We met once,” Yun Xiangxiang replied flatly.
“Yun, I did not manage to get your number last time, nor did I find your social media account,” Wilson was overly friendly. “Can I have your number?”
“Hey, kid. What am I? Invisible?” Qi Jun interjected. He looked at Wilson dangerously.
Yun Xiangxiang didn’t want to exchange numbers with Wilson. They were not in the same circle of friends, and they lived in two different countries.
“Hello, Keane.” Wilson immediately greeted Qi Jun. They seemed to know each other.
“Since everyone knows everyone, I don’t think any introduction is needed. Do please help me entertain Miss Yun and Keane, Wilson,” Faye smiled at Wilson. They shared an amicable relationship; it seemed. Faye wouldn’t have Wilson help otherwise.
“It’s an honor to serve you,” Wilson smiled at Faye before bringing Yun Xiangxiang and Qi Jun away.
After what happened last time, Wilson didn’t bring them to his friends. Instead, he brought them to a quiet spot that was close to the food.
Faye greeted some people before leaving the room and entertaining the guests out there.
“Your number, Yun. Your number,” Wilson insisted.
Yun Xiangxiang couldn’t keep on refusing, so she told Wilson her number.
None of them brought their phones. Wilson would probably forget it.
Wilson didn’t think so. He mumbled the number before looking at Qi Jun. “Where’s King? I thought you’re a couple.”
Wilson thought Yun Xiangxiang was Song Mian’s girlfriend. But now that he saw her with Qi Jun, he wasn’t sure. He did think Yun Xiangxiang was close to Song Mian though.
“You aren’t wrong. King and I are a couple. He and Keane are best friends. I just so happen to be filming in Paris, so Keane brought me here to see some new things,” Yun Xiangxiang explained.
“You’re filming here? What’s the film called? I watched “The King’s Wisdom” before. You were gorgeous,” Wilson praised sincerely.
“The King’s Plan” was localized into “The King’s Wisdom” for overseas audiences.
“Can you understand it?” Yun Xiangxiang was curious. The film talked about China’s history, which could be hard to understand for foreigners.
“I can understand the plot,” Wilson nodded. “The strong nations controlled the weaker ones, and the king of that nation snatched the prettiest lady away to make into his wife.”
Yun Xiangxiang pursed her lips in amusement as she listened to Wilson’s explanation. He wasn’t wrong in his interpretation, but for some reason, it was funny.
When they started to get along, Yun Xiangxiang found out that Wilson was a cheerful and humorous guy. And he was an understanding person. They talked about nothing aside from films.
Wilson talked about his favorite genre and styles he admired, but he also spoke about his understanding of films in general.
Qi Jun joined in the chat. The trio talked about films. After ten-odd minutes, two foreign ladies came in.
“Those Chinese girls are rude. They soiled Kelly’s dress and refused to admit it.”
“How could Faye let these peasants in? And it’s her birthday, no less!”
“Kelly dress is designed by Mr. Findlay. It’s one of a kind. And now it’s ruined. It’s quite annoying.”
Yun Xiangxiang had a bad feeling as she listened to the conversation. She looked at Qi Jun, “Last night, Mengmeng and Xiangling told me that their bakery received two hefty orders. They sent one to some wealthy guy’s home yesterday, and they’ll be sending it to the same place today.”
Qi Jun frowned. He took Yun Xiangxiang’s hand and went outside. They went past the garden and saw Li Xiangling and Song Meng standing outside.
The castle’s servants surrounded them. Song Meng was red with fury. Li Xiangling was trying to calm her down.
The crowd was whispering about them. They talked in French. Li Xiangling and Song Meng couldn’t understand a word, but Yun Xiangxiang did.
She didn’t want to listen too much. None of the whispers were good. Yun Xiangxiang’s face darkened. Faye could come for her if she wanted to find trouble. Touching her friends was crossing the line.
Li Xiangling and Song Meng’s faces changed when they saw Yun Xiangxiang.
They were both dressed in their work uniforms, looking quite shabby.
They were in the same place, and yet Yun Xiangxiang was wearing a gorgeous evening gown, looking as delicate as a fairy, while they looked like trolls.
For a moment there, Song Meng wanted to run away in embarrassment. When her gaze met Yun Xiangxiang’s, Song Meng averted it immediately.
Li Xiangling shook her head imperceptibly, telling Yun Xiangxiang not to come here. She was sharper than Song Meng. Li Xiangling knew what was going on.
These couple of unusually hefty orders were traps laid for Yun Xiangxiang.
Faye wanted to humiliate Yun Xiangxiang publicly.
