Chapter 109: Abandoned Gamers

Chapter 109: Abandoned Gamers

“Can I ask you some more questions?”

“Of course.”

The Adventurer’s Guild lady was slightly taken aback by the fact that I had more questions.

“Can we get magic stones from the magical beasts in the dungeon?”

I know that the magical beasts in the dungeons and the ones outside have some differences between them. So, I want to check if I can get magic stones.

“Of course. Oh, I didn’t tell you this, but you can only get magic stones in the dungeon.”

“Only magic stones?”

Apparently, we can only get magic stones in the dungeon. When a magical beast is defeated, only it’s magic stone remains, and no corpse is left behind. It seems to be different from the outside world.

There are only three types of items that can be obtained in dungeons: magic stones from defeated magical beasts, treasure chests that sometimes fall in the dungeons, and items that are rewarded for defeating the bottom floor boss of the dungeon.

If we want materials from magical beasts, there are forests and mountains a few days’ walk from the Academy City, and we can hunt them.

(I didn’t expect it to be only magic stones, but everything else is as I expected. Then)

“Okay. I’m looking for D-rank magic stones. Is there an upper limit on the request?”

“Um, yes, how much?”

“I am thinking of at least two million magic stones.”

“”Wha! Two million!!!”

The lady, Kurena and the other three were all surprised.

“I’m thinking of requesting about 10,000 stones at a time. I have 100 Gold coins right now, do you have a problem if I submit a request now?”

Then I put down a bag containing 100 Gold coins.

“That will be no problem. The Academy City is rich in magic stones. However, I am not sure how much, but if you request a large number of stones in a short period of time, it may take some time to complete the request.”

(Can I get to 10,000? I’ll have to request with gusto on this one.)

Each D-rank magic stone is worth 1 Silver coin, so 10,000 of them would be worth 100 Gold coins. I was told that it would cost 10 Gold coins as commission. As expected, they don’t take requests for free. The commission seemed to be 10% of the market price of the request. I also offered an additional 10 Gold coins.

“How soon can I get 10,000 magic stones?”

“Yes, if you refer to this request from the Mage Guild, I think you will get it within a week.”

I tried to do the same kind of request in Grandver.

I went to request Mana Recovery Potion and D-rank magic stones, but I was told that 10,000 stones would be tough. In the first place, I was hunting Goblins, so there was a short supply of magic stones.

Also, when I tried to buy a potion to restore my mana, I was told that since it was made from herbs, there was a limit to how many I could buy. I couldn’t just recklessly buy potions made for all adventurers.

However, this is Academy City. There are 20 dungeons here, and there is always a supply of magic stones. If there are people who want a certain item, there might be more people who will work hard to find that said item.

I know that the world is about to be destroyed by the Demon King but I hope you’ll forgive me if the supply of magic stones dwindles a little and the price of magic stones skyrockets. I’m going to do my best to request a large number of magic stones for about three years.

I check my notes in the Grimoire.

Questions for the Adventurer’s Guild.

(Okay, for now I’ve confirmed what I need to confirm. I’ll just go to the dungeon first, come back and ask if there’s anything I don’t understand then.)

“Do you have any other questions?”

“No more.”

“Then, I will issue your adventurer’s card.”

The lady handed me my adventurer’s card, wondering if I was finally done asking questions.

I checked the adventurer’s card that was handed to me. My name and rank was displayed in silver letters on a jet-black board the size of a business card.

“Allen, E.”

(Hmm, so God is related to everything with jet-black boards and silver letters, like the Grimoire and the Appraisal Ceremony result boards? Well, it’s nice to have a sense of unity.)

“Is this the end of the procedure?”

I asked to confirm whether we have completed the process or not.

“There is one last thing. Are you four friends or from the same hometown? Will you enter the dungeon together?”

“Yes, I suppose we are from the same hometown. I think we will continue to enter the dungeon together.”

“If so, would you like to register a party?”

(Hmm? Oh, I nearly forgot about that. I’ll have to register for the party, too.)

Raven told me about a group of adventurers are called a party. I heard that forming a party increases your credibility and makes it easier to receive requests. I don’t think I’ll be taking any requests, but I should probably make one.

“Lady Cecile, shall we create a party? Do you have any party names you’d like to give us?”

“Huh? Hmm.”

Cecile thought about it because she was suddenly asked.

“I don’t. Allen, you should decide.”

Kurena and Dogora nodded.

“Then I’d like to go with ‘Abandoned Gamers’.”

“‘Abandoned Gamers’?”

“Allen, what does that mean?”

“An Abandoned Gamer is someone who has mastered the path they have taken. It is a title that can only be claimed by those who have risked everything to master that path.”

{TL Note: Please suggest some names for the party because I personally think it sucks. I checked, again and again, the Kanji that translated to ‘Abandoned Gamers’ but the translation was right. I personally think ‘Peerless Gamers’ would be way better and suit the description. If you have better ones, please suggest some in the discord.}

“Wow, that makes a lot of sense. It’s kind of nice.”

(Abandoned Gamer? Oh, so I can become one, too? I almost lost sight of the important things, like the Demon King and the magic stone.)

I found myself saying the words out loud.

When I was Kenichi in my previous life, I was a gamer who liked to play, but I was not a shut-in; I had been immersed in video games for 27 or 28 years since I was 7 or 8 years old, but I also went to school, and after graduating from college, I became a company employee.

I’ve played a lot of games, but I never mastered a game better than anyone else, or became stronger than anyone else in that game.

It was just something I did on the side as a company employee. There was no way I could beat the shut-ins who had thrown everything they had into the game. There are many people in the world of games who spend ten times as much as they would have if they had spent their meager bonuses.

I was such a gamer that even when I stayed at a business hotel on a business trip, I would pack my game console in my carry-on bag, and sometimes I was rumored to be a shut-in on the Internet forums. However, my reputation in my previous life was in the top tier, not the top.

Now, I am in Hell Mode difficulty with the only Eight-star Talent available. Everything about being alive is a situation that allows me to be the strongest.

{TL Note: I just understood that he glorified the shut-ins as the ones who have “abandoned” everything for games and termed them ‘Abandoned Gamers’.}

(Can I aim to be the strongest too? Well, I can aim for it.)

It’s been 12 years since Allen was reincarnated in another world, but this was the moment when Allen first wanted to become the strongest.

“Excuse me. Please name the party ‘Abandoned Gamers’.”

The lady seemed to be wondering if that was okay, so I said it again.

“I understand. Please write the name of the party and the party members here.”

The lady handed me a piece of parchment and asked me to write them down.

I filled out the form smoothly and handed over the parchment.

“I’ll be with you in a moment.”

The lady pulled back into the back of the room.

“I’m sorry it took so long.”

“‘Okay, now that Allen has asked his questions, what do we do now?”

“Let’s see, it’s getting pretty late today, so let’s search for a base tomorrow.”

“Base?”

Dogora reacted to the sound of the word “base”. Something about it tickled his adventurous spirit.

“Well, after that, maybe we should talk about our future goals.”

Then I looked at Kurena and Dogora.

“Yes, you’re right. We’ll have to talk about the future.”

(Yes, I’ll talk to Kurena and Dogora about the future when we decide on the house tomorrow. I don’t want them to go to the battlefield without knowing what’s going on.)

“Future? Allen, about what?”

“I have goals for the next three years.”

I was just about to tell everyone my goals when I decided on a base.

Swish

“”Whoa!””

My Grimoire came out in front of me suddenly.

(What?)

I checked the cover of the Grimoire and there was something written on the cover in silver letters.

“Kurena has joined your party.”

“Cecile Granvelle has joined your party.”

“Dogora has joined your party.”

“What is this book, it just appeared out of nowhere!”

Cecile said, looking at the Grimoire.

(Huh, she can see the Grimoire. Thank you so much for your help. What if…?)

I opened the Grimoire, not caring about the reactions of the three.

“Yes, it came!”

(Their status is here! It was worth praying for four months!)

In the pages of the Grimoire, all four of us had our statuses listed. I checked to see if I’ve received any reply from the Gods, but there was no reply.

“Wait, did you bring this out Allen? What are you doing all of a sudden?”

In Cecile’s mind, I can somehow conjure anything out of thin air.

“No, no, we’ll talk about all of these things and more when we get settled.”

Allen calmed everyone down by saying that he would explain about the Grimoire. After registering the party and requesting 10,000 D-rank magic stones, they left the Adventurer’s Guild.
