Chapter 4: Runes and Elements
Chapter 4: Runes and Elements
Confused expression appeared on Ayaan's face, he didn't understand what she talking about. Looking at his perplexed expression, Birdy explained, "Look at the pond, at the centre, you will see a purple-coloured flower shining with an unusual lustre."
Ayaan looked towards the pond, a beautiful flower was floating at the lake's surface. The moment he saw the flower, a dumbfounded look emerged. What he saw in front of him was the flower emitting a purple colour as large as his body. It was as beautiful as any red-rose. However, no rose could compare to its glamour.
Looking at the flower in excitement, Ayaan said, "What a beautiful flower, Amazing!"
Her next sentence again made him stupify, "Heh! What do you know? It is the god rank herb! How could it not be amazing?"
"Go-god rank?" As Birdy finished speaking, Ayaan cried out in shock, asking hurriedly, "You are saying this flower is the god rank treasure! Why my luck would be this fucking good?"
Ayaan said exaggeratedly, Birdy heard him, replying in the same manner, "How would I know, why the hell your fucking luck is this good? Anyway, if the greatest demon's legacy could exist here, so the god-rank treasure."
Ayaan sighed as he heard her, before saying "You are right if the legacy of the greatest demon could be here, so the god rank treasure," he turned to towards the ongoing battle, asked Birdy, "So, how are we going to get our hands on that flower?"
'Roar!'
'Boom!'
Both beasts had injuries all over their bodies, but neither of them admitted defeat. Claws collided, and both the creatures tried to grab each other's neck.
Ayaan became absorbed in the brutal battle between beasts when Birdy's voice resounded, "You need not do anything, just wait. These two beasts have almost equal strength, and neither will let go of the opportunity to evolve into the pure-blooded beast."
"So, they can evolve after devouring that flower! But how will it help me?" Asking in confusion and anticipation.
"Alas, you ignorant boy. Do you know how precious this treasure is for you?" Sighing exaggeratedly, then followed, "There are many runes in this world. The more powerful rune is, the more powerful elemental power it will provide."
"Wait for a second! You are saying, I will get an element after getting rune?" Chiming out in surprise, Ayaan didn't understand completely.
"Yes, you will get an element after forming a rune," approving his previous question.
"However, I can already use the fire element! And I can already cast a fire-spell?" Asking in confusion. He didn't understand what was going on here.
"Yes, everyone can use the first level spell of basic elements, but if you want to use high-level spells, build a rune inside your consciousness, otherwise you won't be able to use higher spells," hearing her explanation, Ayaan nodded in understanding.
After hearing her explanation, he thought about his glorious future in this world, conquering, slaughtering devils and buddhas all together. But Birdy poured cold water on his expectations, "Don't overthink, first steal that flower under the nose of those two beasts, if they found about you, don't even bother to run because it will be futile."
Ayaan furrowed his brow at her comment, asking in disarray, "So, how are we supposed to get our hands on the flower, letting no one notice us?"
"It's impossible to steal the flower in their presence because you are too weak, and they will notice your presence when you try to steal the treasure." Now, Ayaan understood the gravity of the situation and the gap in strength. He was just a tiny being in this world at the present.
"So, what should we do?" the only option left for him was to ask Birdy.
"We need not do anything. Just wait and you will know the answer," she said, Ayaan raised his brow in confusion but didn't dwell on it any longer, turning towards the ongoing battle.
'Roaaar!'
Both beasts had bodies covered in blood, their attacks only intensified as time passed, showing their savageness. They didn't stop just because of the wounds, painting the whole ground red under them.
The wind was howling continuously, spreading the stench of blood in all directions. Because of that, all the small beasts since long had run away. These two beasts were the most powerful in this area. Therefore, no other beast dared to come near their fighting place.
After fighting two hours without pause, both beasts' energy had already almost depleted and their speed slowed.
When Ayaan saw situation turning, an edgy look emerged on his face, seeing as if this continued, both the beast would become heavily injured or even kill each other. Then, it won't be hard for him to get his hands on the flower.
Ayaan waited patiently, hiding behind the copse of the trees. After waiting for half an hour more, the time came.
'Roaar!'
Simultaneously, both the beasts fell on the ground, due to excessive energy loss. Both the creatures lost the ability to move, and this was the time Ayaan was waiting for; he dashed towards the pond, jumping into it without hesitation. But when he came near the flower, an unbearable heat spread through his body.
When Ayaan tried to find the solution, Birdy's voice resounded, "You need not grab the flower to get the credits. Just say 'exchange,' and the library will exchange anything in a certain distance except the human and other living things, you can exchange anything.
Remember, the system could exchange any living thing without consciousness like this flower. Although this flower is god rank. There is no soul in it, and that is the reason you could exchange it."
Understanding everything, Ayaan didn't waste his time, shouted, "Exchange!"
It didn't take over two seconds to fade the flower away, leaving vacant space.
'Roaar!'
Both beasts were lying on the ground, saw everything. Two voices full of remorse echoed in the forest, making other beasts shiver in fear. However, left with no energy, both beasts couldn't do anything other than roaring.
Although both beasts tried to stand, only to fell on their knees. As Ayaan saw this, a mocking smile appeared on his small doggy face, before running away to avoid any further mishaps.
'The feeling of robbing someone stronger than himself is marvellous' a thought appeared inside his head, disappearing from the sight of the growling beasts.
Half an hour later, Ayaan arrived in front of a cave, checking for the traces of other beasts, but found nothing out of the ordinary. In the aftermath of entering the cave, nothing looked dangerous. Therefore, he relaxed his guard and opened the status window.

Because speed was the only attribute that could help him save his life in dire conditions, that's why he added his all points in speed.
Watching his credits, Ayaan felt proud of himself for getting so many credits. When Birdy's voice came to spoil his daydreaming, "Don't be too happy. It was merely a lucky encounter that you could find a treasure. You won't have fortuitous encounters like this every day."
Regardless, Ayaan nodded, understanding that it won't be easy to earn the credits. After that, he opened the rune option. Another window appeared in front of his eyes.

Looking excitedly at all the elements, Ayaan asked, "What is the difference among these three types of elements? Can you explain?"
Without delay, she answered, "If you ask me, there is no difference. It depends on the mage, how he utilises his element. A mage will decide if his element is powerful or not, but..."
Pausing for a second, she said, "...supreme element has the edge over other elements, they are more powerful and destructive but forming their runes is also harder."
Nodding in understanding, Ayaan considered which element he should choose. Examining every element, in which some made his eyes go wide, but somehow he resisted the temptation.
After reading the advantages and disadvantages of every element, he discussed with Birdy.
After spending hours on it, he finally spoke, "I have decided which element I need to choose!"
