Chapter 183: Mountain Digging
Chapter 183: Mountain Digging
After having their fills the group continued their journey. They fought and killed and walked towards their destination, and as they walked, the summoning became stronger. Now Rebecca could feel the location and distance. The group fastened their speed when they heard her words, as they also wanted to see this summoning thing with their own eyes.
However, as they neared the place, the cold, biting, piercing weather became even harder, numbing their bodies. They exchanged glances and looked at each other in surprise. The weather changed so abruptly that it felt unnatural to them. They didn't know what happened.
Everyone padded on the icy lake, increasing their speed. They weren't far away from the expected place that they were trying to find. Rebecca pointed as the group walked, still in Ayaan's arms. "Look!" she exclaimed.
Ayaan looked, and everyone followed his gaze in the distance. There was a large icy mountain, more than a few thousand meters. Ayaan looked at the white mountain of ice with mouth agape. The disbelief filled him. How could a mountain such as this high stand on the lake? He wondered if there was really a lake under them, or only an ice layer. If there was a lake, it wouldn't be able to take the weight of this mountain, no matter what.
"I am hearing summoning from that mountain," when everyone was confused and stood filled with complicated feelings, Rebecca pointed at the mountain with an excited face. "Yes, that where summoning is coming!"
"Are you sure?" Ayaan asked, peering at the mountain. "This mountain looks weird. How could such a mountain stand over a lake? Why is it not sinking?"
Rebecca looked at the mountain in confusion. "I don't know why it is standing above the lake so stably, but the summoning is coming from this mountain."
Ayaan nodded and didn't speak any further. If she said the summoning came from the mountain, then it came from the mountain. "Let's go." He said as he walked towards the food of the ice mountain that looked like Mount Everest from near.
The group stood in front of the mountain, in the bottom, at the foot of the mountain, Ayaan looked at Rebecca. "What now?" he asked, because the mountain had blocked the further way and couldn't move any further, while Rebecca said the summoning came from the mountain.
"I don't know," she shook her head. "But I am feeling a strong summoning from this place." She pointed at the ice boulder that attached into the mountain.
"Alright, if you are right, there must be something good hidden into this mountain." He said and took out a spade from his space ring, as he started to dig the icy foot of the mountain. "Khach, khach, khach."
Everyone looked at him with a wooden face when they saw him digging the mountain. "What are you doing? Help me!" Ayaan said when he saw everyone standing at the side like wooden logs. This fucking ice was too hard after all.
Everyone took out different types of digging toolshoe, spade, and forkfrom their rings. Before their journey, the group had bought these things but didn't know if they would ever need these things. Who would have thought that they would really need it one day? Only Ifre and Akash were without digging tools while Rebecca was weakthey stood at the side while others hauled out the ice continuously.
The sound of khach, khach filled the surrounding while the group dug out the ice. At first it was easy to dig the ice, but as they continued and went further into the mountain, the ice became harder and harder, like stones or metals. The hands turned red as the veins popped on the soft hands of the ladies. Then the group used their energies and covered their tools with it, to dig into the ice. Only then the group felt a relief and digging became easier.
In just half an hour, a long cave formed on the foot of the mountain. As Ayaan and others wiped their clothes from the small ice crystals that fell on them. "How much more?" Ayaan turned towards Rebecca and asked. "We have already dug at least twenty meters."
Rebecca's face reddened when she heard him. She herself didn't know who much they needed to dig the ice before their expected thing would appear. She felt even more terrible, seeing the group worked so hard for her sake, but she stood at the side, unable to help them. Though the summoning became stronger than before, there was still some distance. "I don't know how much, but I can feel the summoning becoming stronger." She replied abashedly. She felt ashamed for not being able to help them.
Ayaan smiled at her and said, "don't worry, we will dig it out, no matter how deep it is hiding." Afterward, he continued his work. The group would rest from time to time and resume their work. They would talk to each other to avoid being bored.
The group hauled ice around half a day, then they took a brief rest. Though they could not tell if it was day or night in the outside worlddue to the overwhelming fog that hid the lightnow they have already dug over fifty meters into the mountain, and the summoning had become stronger and stronger, Rebecca could feel it even more vividly.
At this very moment when Ayaan stroked the hard ice with his spade, the hollow sound echoed, poh! As they heard the sound, the ice sank into the ground in front of them and a hole revealed and darkness filled it, but there was little light inside that did not look like light.
Ayaan made eye contact with his companions, and his eyes flashed with anticipation. He looked at Rebecca and said. "There is a hollow space in between this mountain. I think the thing is inside." Rebecca, who was not far away from him, heard, and an excited look appeared on her face.
