Haunted Duke’s Daughter

Chapter 68

I passed through the reception desk and entered the venue of the evening party. There were many gorgeous dishes lined up on the table. I thought that Sakura would like it, but I only took a glance at them and didnt touch them. Sakura seemed to be aware of this and didnt say anything.

I could somehow tell that she was disappointed.

Lilia. If we keep going straight, well be there.

Following Sakuras instructions, I walked through the venue and soon found the person I was looking for. The prince was chatting with Chris. When Lilia approached, Chris noticed her first and said,

Your Highness, Id better get going.

Yeah. Im sorry.

Chris bowed to the prince smilingly and walked towards Lilia. She was just about to walk past him without saying any particular greeting.

Thank you for your hard work.

Such a small voice. Lilia looked at Chris sideways, and he seemed to be smiling, but only faintly. Then he walked away. When she reached the princes side, the prince furrowed his brows in displeasure.

What are you doing here?

I came to say hello. If you dont mind, Ill be leaving soon.

Then you can leave as soon as possible.

The princes words stopped there. But it was only for a moment, and then he quickly continued.

Youve ruined everything I had planned. Ill have to think again.

Im sorry to hear that, but dont you have an excellent man by your side?

He glanced at Glenn, who was not far away, and Glenn quickly looked away. He was stunned for a moment, and then quickly put on a smile.

Not that one.

Looks like it.

Lilia managed to hold back the urge to sigh and bowed her head.

Ill leave you to it.

Oh.

Lilia nodded her head in satisfaction at the princes curt words and returned to her stern look. Then, as she was about to leave.

Liliane?

She was not expecting to be stopped and turned around suspiciously.

Ive prepared souvenirs for everyone. Dont forget to take them home.

I wondered if I should bother to say anything, but I bowed my head in thanks and walked towards the exit.

The people handing out souvenirs at the exit were the princes servants. They were the ones who had been shivering in the corner of the room when Lilia visited the prince.

I felt a little awkward, but I didnt turn my head away and walked on.

Master Aldis. This way, please.

One of the people who found Lilia held out a paper box that was slightly different in color from the others. If you look closely, it looks a little bigger than the others. When she looked at the one who handed it to her, he had a big smile on his face.

Let it be a token of our gratitude.

I didnt do anything, did I?

No. Thats what Ill say.

He smiled meaningfully and went back to his place. Lilia tilted her head, but returned to her room.

I arrived at my room, asked Alisa to make me a cup of tea, and opened the paper box received as a souvenir. Inside was a round cake that was already sliced and divided into six equal pieces. There was also a small folded piece of paper, and when I unfolded it, I saw that it was written in the princes handwriting.

S-The prince is broken!

LThats terrible, Sakura.

SOh, Im sorry.

LHe was broken from the start. Now hes finally fixed

SFor all intents and purposes, Lilias worse!

I looked over the letter from the prince. It was an apology for the past and a request for future support. He asked me to share the cake with everyone in my room.

SThats one too many. Well, he doesnt know how many we are, so I guess its not surprising.

LNo, he probably does. I think he wants you to deliver it to Tina but he couldnt write that he wanted her to have it, so he gave up in the end, I guess!

S.What a roundabout way to go, I cant help but think hes going to do it.

After some thought, Lilia instructed Alisa to bring five plates and a small paper box. Alisa immediately prepared what she was told.

I asked her to transfer one of the cake slices to the paper box.

Cynthia. Im sorry, but could you please deliver this cake to Tina? Be sure no one sees it.

As I said this, Cynthia came down from the ceiling. With awe, she took the box with the cake and went back to the ceiling. After seeing her off, Lilia told Alisa to transfer the rest of the cake.

After she finished transferring them, Alisa finished preparing the tea and waited a bit.

SThats what it feels like to be a dog in a doghouse! Womp womp!

LSakura, this is disgusting.

SThats terrible! I feel like Lilias been cold to me lately. Is it possible that she doesnt like me?

LI like you.

SYeah.Ehehe.

Lilia let out a chuckle as she saw Sakuras expression of sloppy laughter.

After a little more waiting, Cynthia returned. She tilted her head curiously, perhaps in response to the fact that the cake was still untouched. Lilia tapped the table with her finger, and Alisa, sensing her meaning, urged Cynthia to sit on the chair. After preparing tea for the three of them, Alisa sat down as well.

Cynthia, two for the top two first. Youre here, arent you?

Yes. Thank you.

Slightly surprised, Cynthia took the plate with the cake and disappeared again to the ceiling. This time, she came right back.

Lets have it, shall we?

After a brief prayer, I picked up my fork.

Could it be that Miss Lilia.Have you been waiting for me?

Its just your imagination.

Lilia said this, looking away slightly. Cynthia rolled her eyes even more, and then smiled.

Thank you, Lady Lilia.

I dont know what you mean.

Lilia looked away, but Cynthia was still smiling happily.
