Chapter 33
C33 – Defeated Wen Lang
Witnessing Xu Linshan’s fierce demeanor, Qi Ning finally felt something click into place.
Xu Linshan’s earlier antics were just too contrived; he didn’t resemble a mafia boss in the slightest.
“Kid,” Wen Lang taunted, twirling the dagger in his hand. “You sure do babble on!”
He didn’t get to finish his thought before the dagger was hurtling towards Qi Ning like a bolt of lightning.
Qi Ning instinctively dodged, and the blade narrowly missed his forehead, grazing his ear instead.
In that fleeting moment, Qi Ning felt a searing pain.
Touching his ear, he realized it was bleeding.
“Impressive!” Wen Lang commended, flashing a thumbs-up at Qi Ning, his expression turning grave.
”You’re not too shabby yourself!” Qi Ning retorted, glancing back.
The dagger had buried itself in the wall, handle and all.
As Qi Ning turned his attention back, Wen Lang charged at him like a fierce gale.
Qi Ning sensed the movement immediately.
By the time he faced Wen Lang, the man was already upon him, brandishing another dagger, this one even sharper than the first.
The blade’s cold gleam was unmistakable in the light, and Qi Ning felt the looming threat of death.
Wen Lang’s dagger was poised at Qi Ning’s throat, clearly intended for a lethal blow.
But Qi Ning wasn’t about to let that happen.
He grabbed a heavy glass ashtray nearby and hurled it at Wen Lang’s dagger with all his might.
The force of the blow caused Wen Lang’s dagger to drop.
Seizing the moment, Qi Ning swung the ashtray once more, this time aiming for Wen Lang’s head.
Wen Lang reacted swiftly, arching back just in time to evade Qi Ning’s potentially deadly blow.
Undeterred, Wen Lang, still gripping the dagger, lunged for another strike.
This time, he aimed for Qi Ning’s abdomen rather than his throat.
Qi Ning, determined not to give him the opportunity, swung the ashtray yet again.
Wen Lang’s dagger was once again knocked down by Qi Ning’s powerful blow.
Qi Ning had poured nearly all his strength and skill into these two strikes.
As a result, the impact was incredibly forceful.
Wen Lang’s arms drooped as he staggered back several steps, his hands tingling from the force of Qi Ning’s blows.
A sharp soreness was evident in his arm.
“So strong!” Wen Lang’s eyes, sharp as a hawk’s, were fixed intently on Qi Ning.
He shook his arms, trying to alleviate the soreness left by Qi Ning’s punishing hits.
“What are you doing spacing out? Get back in there and attack!” Xu Linshan, seeing Wen Lang’s retreat, couldn’t help feeling a bit frantic.
The pace of their earlier combat had been intense, leaving Xu Linshan struggling to keep up, so he was unaware of what had just transpired.
“Stop yelling,” Wen Lang snapped.
Feeling the ache in his arm subside, he prepared himself for another offensive.
