Chapter 353: Chapter 353 – Destroying the Spike and Caesar’s Might

Rumble rumble–!

The ground rumbled greatly. No, it was Behemoth's body that rumbled. The footing was tilted and the gravity shifted.

"Hold onto something!" Jamal shouted loudly as he held the strong rock under his feet and positioned himself to be ready for the shift in footing. His dual daggers were already sheathed behind his back.

Max imitated what Jamal did and grabbed the rock under him. When the footing shifted, his body hung around. His hand gripped the rock tightly as he looked down. The new ground was around 4 meters away. Just jumping down would be doable.

However, he wanted to know what happened when the ground suddenly shifted.

"Behemoth stood up," Jamal said, looking in the distance. "The team has successfully captured its feet and hands. This will make our job easier."

"You're right."

Defeating the mole with a drill on this condition was possible. There was no need to fight them while climbing. Instead, they could just run toward the entrance while cutting them up, like before.

"Let's go!"

Jamal didn't say anything complicated. With a simple command, he dropped down to the large rock and began to run. Hesitation couldn't be seen in his movement as he unsheathed his duel daggers once again and began to cut the mole.

"Drilly's weak point is at the base of their drill! Just poke it and they will die!" Jamal informed as he kept running.

Following right behind, Max raised his voice.

"Drilly? Who gives them such a cute name?!"

He had a problem with the monster's name.

— Obviously the developer?

— Yeah, there is no one but the developed

— Its name fits its appearance. Why? You don't like it? Hah! A shame, but it's already decided! – Developer, maybe

— What's wrong with its name being cute?

"I mean… Ha!" Max read the chat and advanced without stopping, killing a Drilly after his sword stabbed its weak point. "This is a monster hunting game, you know? Not some catch the monster game. What's in their mind giving such a monster name Drilly? Die!"

While explaining, he killed another one. They had reached halfway from the entrance, and Jamal left more Drillies' corpses behind him.

"The name is too cute, damn it! What if the player doesn't want to kill something cute? There are people like that, no? They will be like: 'Come here, Drilly! Aaaah!' and got stabbed by those drills. At least name them a bit scarier, like Garrador or Raxor.

Make it Drillix or Driller or Drill Master!"

— Somehow… that doesn't make sense that it's starting to make sense.

— How? He's spelling nonsense but he actually said something incredibly human.

— The design is inhuman. This shouldn't be allowed!

— CUTE AGGRESSION! This is definitely lethal… Truly fit a Mercenary Quest

— Mercenary's job is to kill and hunt everything. They won't care whether the monster is cute or not. All they did was hunt

"Wait, that's correct," Max said, thinking deeply about what the chat said.

"My bad, it was my lack of wisdom that made me say something strange. You guys are right this time. The design is incredibly inhuman because it's to test players' will! Sorry, it's nonsense, I know. I just want to talk to divert my attention hahaha."

— No worries, Breeze. I know you're weak to cute thing

— Naah, it's probably just him being silly like usual

— I doubt he actually cares about cute things or names. Ah, save for LilyPixel.

"That's harsh, guys," Max complained about the chat that accused him of lying. "Anyway, we've arrived at the entrance. It's so deep, like an abyss, but… is that glowing thing the spike?" He peered down the hole as Jamal killed the Drilly that was left behind them.

Before long, the yapper joined him and looked down.

"That's right, newbie. That's our target." He said as he took out a rope and tied it to a sturdy rock. He pulled it a few times to make sure it was tight. "Alright, let's head down and destroy that. We only have 5 minutes left!"

5 minutes sounded like a lot of time, considering what had happened all this time. He quickly took the rope and rappelled down. Thankfully, he had the knowledge of how to from his past days filled with curiosity.

In no time, he quickly reached the base and looked at the 'spike' in front of him. Upon closer inspection, this spike was more like a large nail. And he also just realized when it got closer, but…

"This is beating. Like a heart."

It glowed for a second and dimmed for another. If compared to a heart, this spike seemed to be alive, a part of Behemoth's organ.

Thud! Crash–

A large thud and crash rang from behind. Jamal directly jumped without using the rope and cracked the ground underneath him. He looked pretty fine as he gripped his dual daggers.

"Well, it's time for work. We have to destroy, or at least chip a part of this spike in 5 minutes. You take the left and I will take the right. We have no time so let's get into work immediately! Strike when the light dims. The spike will be a bit softer at that time."

"Got it."

They began their work immediately, striking the large spike at intervals. Each time the light turned dim, they hit the spike and stopped when the light returned.

As they struck the spike in an attempt to destroy it, the ground shook greatly. The Behemoth felt the pain of its important organ being attacked.

Even if it thought humans as mere bugs, having bugs chipping your important organ would still hurt. It screamed and rampaged. The mercenaries outside tried to keep it still by pulling the sturdy rope they set to tie the Behemoth down.

At some point…

Crack!

Some cracks appeared on the spike. Jamal's eyes widened as he screamed.

"Just a few more strikes, newbie! The spike has already cracked! Let's hit it together on three!"

Without waiting for his answer, Jamal immediately counted.

"1… 2… 3… Strike!"

Max swung his sword at full might at the signal.

Bam!

Boom!

The spike shattered into pieces once three blades made contact, bursting and sending debris. His vision immediately turned white as he felt a momentary pain attacking him.

A second later, his vision shifted. He was floating in a semi-transparent state, looking at two figures getting blown away from the back of Behemoth as the rock armor crumbled to the ground, revealing the monster's true body as it screamed in agony.

Two mercenaries caught the figures, they were Max and Jamal. Their bodies were battered and severely injured. The rescue team immediately administered health potions to them, forcing them into their mouths.

Their injuries were visibly closed as they gulped the health potions down. When that happened, a loud stomping footstep could be heard in the distance.

Someone wielding an axe larger than its body stood the ground, facing the Behemoth that changed its perspective of humans. If humans were bugs before, now it has evolved into annoying bugs.

Caesar who stood in the Behemoth's way clearly knew it, but he wasn't afraid. Instead, he inhaled a large amount of air into his lungs and leaped into the sky. He managed to jump more than 50 meters and arrived in front of Behemoth's chest, swinging his axe down.

"Don't underestimate humans!"

Swoosh!

With a loud shout, a large wound appeared across the monster's chest. It stumbled backward as blood gushed out from the nasty gash.

Landing on the tall tree, Caesar used his hand as a support as he narrowed his eyes at the monster.

"Go away! Go to the dark area. I know you can understand me."

The Behemoth looked at Caesar and changed its evaluation once again. Humans weren't annoying bugs. They were predators.

Grumbling loudly, the Behemoth turned around. It changed its direction to the right, moving toward an unpopulated and unexplored area beyond human settlement as the wound in its chest began to heal. The only reason why it complied was because it wanted to give birth.

If the situation was slightly different, and it wasn't pregnant, an all-out war might have happened in this Norfatu Valley.

Watching everything in the VIP seat, Max couldn't help but exclaim.

"Holy shit! Caesar is the guy!"

— TOLD YOU!

— GODDAMN! You should learn how to use War Axe from Caesar, Breeze! That way Knight's Journey will be easy!

— He casually injured Behemoth with just a swing!

— CAESAR! CAESAR! CAESAR!

— THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE LEGEND!

Cheers filled the chat, praising Caesar's feat. There was no doubt the man was the living legend.
