Chapter 129: Chapter 129 – First Heist

There was one rule that the thieves had to follow in this game. As much as possible, they should remain unseen and steal the target. Only then could they allow themselves to be seen and run to their escape vehicle.

And how could they remain unseen while their clothes were all the same? The answer was by using the extra ability all thieves had: Disguise.

They could disguise themselves as the NPC in the area and pretend to be one. This ability was also activated via a voice command that they could see on the edge of their vision. All the thieves have already been disguised and blended with the NPC in the targeted area.

The building they had to steal from held a party, and Sea Ring was one of the jewelry the host had in their office. To steal it stealthily, they needed a key that the host had and entered the office secretly.

But there was one problem. The police players would try to arrest the thieves, and they could do it even before they stole the target. They were limited to handcuffs, but that was still a hindrance nonetheless.

"The police players will be able to move in 5 seconds. We have 30 minutes to steal the Sea Ring after that. It's a short time, but let's do as planned."

(Roger!)

(Alright.)

Max used the special communication between thieves while moving through the party indoors as a waiter. The others were disguised as guests and were in a different area than him.

Because all the thieves were new to the game, he guessed the same case applied to the police. So even if he made a strange movement, he hoped the police wouldn't catch him.

Walking toward the second floor, Max suddenly noticed two lights in the indoor party room. They morphed into a security guard who looked oblivious and looked around curiously. At just a glance, he knew they were the enemy players.

"They are here. Be careful. They are wearing a white security guard uniform with a red cap. Two of them are in my sight."

(Two of them are in my sight, in an outdoor area near the entrance. Otter out!)

(Here is carmetwo. The backdoor area is clear. I will try to enter right now.)

(Potato here. They are right behind me. I will distract them.)

"Alright, I will steal the card to enter the office. My target is in sight. Secure a meeting location near the backdoor area, carmetwo."

(Roger.)

With that, everyone began to move to do their respective task. It was their first time playing this game, but they understood that cooperation was the key to winning. That was why they followed Max's instructions.

As for the police team…

"Where are you, thieves?!"

"Show yourself right this instant!"

They were running around the area without any plan. One of them grabbed an NPC because he seemed suspicious but got a penalty of freezing for 20 seconds instead because he actually took an act of violence against the innocent.

— The thieves act professionally, but the security is… meh

— They are like childs

— Look at them running around with a stupid face lol

— No one know how to play the game and just wing it kekeke

— It will be in easy win

'Indeed, this is an easy first match.' A smirk crept into his face as he entered the VIP area of the party.

As a waiter, he was able to enter with no problem. If you asked where the real waiter was… Well, he had a good dream with three other guests in the bathroom with an out-of-order sign hanging onto it.

The VIP area only had a few NPCs. If he made a suspicious move, one of them would definitely be alerted and press the alarm button. That would spell the end of the thievery, forcing them to run away to get a draw and restart the game.

Naturally, they would lose if all of them were caught.

'The host is the blonde man over there, huh?' He looked at the man surrounded by a few guests in front of a large picture. 'Hmm, it will be a problem. I will follow him and find an opportunity to steal the card.'

Max began to follow the host while bringing a tray in his hand. The NPC sometimes got close to him and initiated a conversation. He was a bit troubled but managed to smoothen it by imitating how the other waiter NPCs answered them.

The observation was truly important in this game. And he flawlessly did that.

At some point, one of the police players entered the VIP area. It increased Max's heartbeat slightly, thinking he had been found. But…

"It's you!"

The player suddenly pushed the host to the ground and was about to cuff him. He didn't know that the host was the only NPC that the thieves couldn't disguise themselves as.

— That's idiot

— what the heck

— Did he push the host? Lolol, that was funny

— Newbie police is really funny to look at

— Haa… Haa… Imagine if Breeze was the one got pushed down

— … This channel need a moderator to regulate those down bad, for real

As a result, that player was taken away by the security NPCs and got a penalty of sitting in the security room for 5 minutes. Not only that, but the dissatisfied host began to retreat inside to the second floor of the building.

It was the thieves' chance. Max immediately changed his disguise into a man with a blue suit and followed the host. The change took 3 seconds, starting from his head and progressing to his toe. While he was at it, he contacted his teammate.

"carmetwo, the target has entered the second floor. Do you think you can steal the key from him? I am following him right now."

(I can see him. Let me try it.)

"Great. Potato, can you secure the way out? Let's take the helipad. And Otter… Make some commotion outside to get the enemies' attention. Push some NPC and make them fall to the ground. The police players this time are dumb.

They will arrest anyone acting suspicious."

(Alright.)

(Roger, Breeze! My pleasure!)

Nobody took this game as a game. They were serious about playing their role as thieves.

Just after he finished giving instructions, a huge commotion came from outside. Otter had already made her move.

Hearing that, Max walked faster.

As soon as he arrived on the second floor, he was able to see a masked person waiting for him near the office. That particular person was about to flee the scene, as being seen in the masked state by an NPC could raise the alarm.

However, before he could do that, Max stopped him.

"It's me, carmetwo." He called out, causing the other party to stop and look at him. "Do you get the key?"

Realizing that it was his teammate, carmetwo nodded.

"I got it." He said, showing Max a blue keycard, "The host went to the third floor while cursing loudly because of the commotion started by Otter."

"Great. Let's get the ring and get the hell out of here."

"Alright."

Both of them went to the office and entered with the keycard. Looking around, Max was able to find their target quickly, as it was outlined with a red glow.

Nodding to each other, carmetwo approached the Sea Ring, a ring purely made from blue jade, and took it from its case.

At that moment, the alarm rang loudly.

Beep beep beep!

[Intruder detected!]

Max's disguise was also automatically released, changing his body back into his thief clothes. He looked at carmetwo, and they made the same decision. He purposefully opened the communication between the thieves and gave out a single order.

"Run to the helipad!"
