Chapter 9: Heart Of A Cultivator [V]
Chapter 9: Heart Of A Cultivator [V]
After training for another two hours, his grandfather finally gestured for him to stop.
"We'll stop here for today and continue tomorrow. For daily balance, you need to train with your grandmother and mother."
"Thank you, grandpa."
Cupping his hands, Ju Feng bowed to his waist in deep respect to his grandfather, and also his martial master.
Zhang Li Qiang only smiled and nodded his head in satisfaction with his grandson frame of mind. It reminded him greatly of his daughter, Zhang Xiu Ying. If a mind was on the right path then cultivation would be much more easier and faster. From now on, it would have to be continuous hard training for his grandson.
They made their way back to the cave, where Zhang Wang Jing and Zhang Xiu Ying were preparing the goat milk for sale at the market. Zhang Li Qiang made his way to his chamber, leaving Ju Feng with his mother and grandmother. After finishing with the milk, Zhang Xiu Ying left for the market while Zhang Wang Jing took Ju Feng to the pool side, since it was her turn to train her grandson.
The pool was in its peaceful state and the area surrounding it was quiet too. She did a quick spin-around and smiled brightly. All forms of nature are wonderful. Looking at her grandson, she gleamed happily as she recollected the memories of the past.
Zhang Wang Jing had thought she would never have a child in her life, but somehow, she did. A demigod that kept her Asuran bloodline alive. What about that? And when she had believed she would never set her eyes on a grandchild, a prophecy came to them from a wandering Xue-Wu[a diviner]. And there stood a grandchild in front of her.
How could nature not be wonderful?
"Mystical arts are fundamentals of essence. Do you know what that means, Ju Feng? It means without essence, there would be no mystical arts. Essence is the ultimate nature of any cultivator. And since you cannot practice mystical arts without your essence, I will tell you more about it."
With a slight lift of her right foot, Zhang Wang Jing floated into the mid-air as her body was covered in a faint golden glow.
"Ju Feng, due to the laws of creation regarding incarnation, mortal soul is always in a limbo. Because of this, essence is scattered all over the body where it continuously leaked out into the surrounding. The only way to stop this essence leakage, was to gather it together in a place in your body called the dantian. This will also gradually bring your soul out of limbo into manifestation. The beginning of immortality."
Zhang Wang Jing, who had been gesturing with her hands, pointed a finger at her grandson who tried to remain calm with great difficulty. She smiled inwardly at the state of her grandson's mind. She had used a trace of mind mystification with her pointed finger to check the progress of Ju Feng's mind training. If he could continue that way, he would have a good chance in the world of cultivation.
"There is Chi in your body, Ju Feng, but it's scattered. This is because you are still a mortal. Not a cultivator or a demigod. But now that you are embarking on the path of cultivation, you will soon be able to gather your Chi into your dantian. This is a step into knowing the power of essence. And in time, you'll be able to form a nascent soul."
With a trace of compassion in her expressions, Zhang Wang Jing who had stopped talking to observe her grandson, slowly descended from the mid-air.
"You see, my grandson, the cultivation world is different from the martial world. Unlike the martial world where it's all about the strongest and most powerful, true cultivators strive to gain immortality by forming their nascent souls. This is the stage of true immortality. Unless somebody or something, not natural, kills you, you could live for eternity. I will explain to you how your essence, which is your life-force, connects to your mystical arts. There are elements in our essence, and these elements are used to produce mystical arts."
Walking towards her grandson, Zhang Wang Jing continued.
"The root of any life-force is made up of these elements, although some elements are naturally more powerful than the others. But that's not of any concern to you for now. What you need to know is that life-force connects the soul to the body, the body and soul shared these elements. But because of the laws of reincarnation, the mortal soul is only connected to the life-force, which is scattered all over the mortal's body, by a few thread. But with cultivation, the life-force can be gathered and the soul brought out of limbo making the life-force, the body and the soul, become one."
Zhang Wang Jing spread her hands to encompass her surrounding.
"Look around you, my grandson. Everything in the universe is composed of these elements in different amounts. I tell you this, my grandson. Elements are the basics of all matter. Everything. The ways of the universe were based on the foundation of these elements. The first creation was made out of the elements of matter. Even your own existence has a proportion of these elements.
She placed her hand on Jufeng's shoulder and smiled after seeing the expressions on his face.
"Some elements are more dominant in our bodies than others. The elements we manifest symbolizes the nature of our life-forces. For some cultivators, it can be one element that's more dominant than the rest while in others, it could be more than one dominant elements. While in some cultivators, it's the variants of the elements. The Chi and the elementals formed the essence fundamentals that transform the soul into a mystical one."
Zhang Wang Jing shook her head and sighed in pretense while she continued to smile inwardly.
"Your grandmother is at the peak-stage of the copper core, and still have a long way to go before forming a nascent soul. That depends on if I could when the time comes. However, I know my elemental affinity is fire and I can draw on its power, but never as a nascent soul. Hopefully, it'll happen one day. But as a demigod, your mother will soon be at the stage of forming her own nascent soul. She'll be happy to show you when that happens."
Zhang Wang Jing touched her grandson on the head and chest while looking at him affectionately. He reminded her greatly of the time her lovely daughter was the same age. But unfortunately, Ju Feng had also missed out on the Asuran bloodline which could have taken him safely through the eternal gates of the nascent soul formation. The place where many cultivators seeking true immortality met their sorrowful death.
All accounts taken, Zhang Wang Jing knew the road ahead was going to be extremely difficult for her grandson, but she couldn't wait for him to begin his path towards immortality.
