Chapter 13: Heart Of A Cultivator [IX]
Chapter 13: Heart Of A Cultivator [IX]
Ju Feng found himself staring at an ancient gateway with two closed stone gates. The gateway was like nothing he had ever seen before in his eight years of existence. There were runic inscriptions and symbols on both the gateway and the gates, emitting different colours which made the gates dazzled in sparkling lights.
Titan's torso!
How could a place radiate such brilliance! What, even, was the place? And could the gateway lead to the heavenly realm itself? Was it the cultivation's soul gate to becoming a god? He doubted that. How could he be standing near the soul gate of ascension without undergoing the heavenly tribulations. Moreover, he just started walking his own road of cultivation. His spirit would have exploded just by seeing the heavens' gates alone.
Ah, dreams.
Realizing he could only be in the realms of dreams, Ju Feng let out a soft breath and pushed all the thoughts to one side. With the grip of dreams on the mind, everything illusion is possible. Since he was in a dream, he decided to see what was on the other side. As long as the dream's gateway was not the gate to his own reincarnation. Imagine, death in a dream. He recoiled when his thoughts wandered to the tales of the dreams and illusions cultivators. It was certainly justified of him to be weary of them.
With his eyes on his surroundings, Ju Feng attempted a cautious step towards the gate, but realized he couldn't lift his legs. He desperately tried to free his legs, but stopped when a voice suddenly rang out.
"You are just a childling, you will simply die."
"Who's there?"
"Now be gone."
Startled awake, Ju Feng hurriedly checked his body to see if it was still intact before looking around. After discovering he was still in his room, his shoulders sagged in a soothing relief. Ah, It was just a dream, yet it felt so real. It was as if his soul was forcefully sent back into his own body. That couldn't be an ordinary dream, could it?
Ju Feng closed his eyes and reached for his inner peace. With his mind relaxed, he washed his face and went to look for his mother. Learning that she was in the cultivation chamber, he made his way to the training ground. Upon reaching the training area, he began repeating the steps and moves he had learned regarding the basics, stances, formations and weapons techniques.
He was so engrossed in his hard training he didn't realize the arrival of his grandpa. Zhang Li Qiang who had been watching his grandson for a while, gently interrupted the self-training.
"A-hem."
"Grandpa!"
Ju Feng beamed joyfully before realizing he was on the training ground, and was standing before his martial arts master. He quickly cupped his hands and bowed deeply.
"Good morning, grandpa. I was only doing some practice while waiting for you. I didn't know you are already here."
"Mhm. That's very thoughtful of you. I've been watching you for a time now. Your moves are more precise and your force-field is more stronger. It shows you are really getting into the mindframe of a martial artist. Yes, to be the best you can be at martial arts, you must practice! Practice! Practice!"
Zhang Li Qiang punched his palm with his right fist to mirror his emphasized words as he continued.
"Continuous training will engrave the arts in your heart, becoming part of you and help you hone the skills you have. That is how martial masters are made, Ju Feng. No matter the level you reach, know that you can always get better. And practice will certainly make you the better."
Zhang Li Qiang uttered as he stared admiringly at his grandson. In a swift lightning step, he moved to where the practice stone dummies were placed, and turned to regard his grandson.
"Today, I will start by showing you how powerful your martial art can be when you power it with your Chi. As you already know, these stone dummies are protected by the Terra-World talismans. That's why they could withstand great attacks when we use them for training."
Zhang Li Qiang removed the protective talismans from one of the dummies and hit it with a power strike. There was a loud muffled sound from the impact which rocked the stone dummy, but with no other visible effect.
"That was sheer strength. As you can see, there was little to no effect. But when you now add your Chi, to the move, it becomes very powerful."
He hit the dummy again, but this time, his palm was infused with his Chi. Their was a cracking sound from the impact as the dummy exploded into dust.
"This is what cultivators do in combat. They use their Chi to power their martial arts. Although It's true there are spirit pills that can totally replenish the Chi in the body, the body can only get unrefined spiritual energy from them.
And that's where we have the advantage, Ju Feng. The amount of chi our dantian can hold. Nonetheless, unless in absolute combat, you should avoid using your Chi. You can easily cause harm to someone with it, especially to a mortal. Do you understand?"
"I do, grandpa."
Reaching into his spatial sac, Zhang Li Qiang brought out two manuscripts. One golden manuscript and the other was a white manuscript. He swiftly gestured for his grandson to come closer.
"This golden manuscript is part of our ancestral manuscript. It contains both hand and sword techniques we have in our ancestral lineage. We have two hand technique. The first one is the Searing-Flame and the other one is the Shifting-Heavens hand technique. The Searing-Flames is fire affiliated, but the Shifting-Heavens is not affinity related. So you can learn that one.
As for our ancestral sword technique, it's called the Infernal-Beasts technique. I use the [Infernal-Dragon], your grandmother uses the [Infernal-Eagle] and your mother uses the [Infernal-Phoenix]. We all have the fire affinity, hence, we could learn it. Although you don't have fire affinity, I will still show you the technique. They need to be in your memory, permanently."
Zhang Li Qiang knew Ju Feng could find himself alone in the deadly cultivation's world. At the least, the manuscript wouldn't be lost to their lineage. He placed the golden manuscript to one side and displayed the other manuscript for Ju Feng to see its contents.
"This is the other technique our ancestral line acquired over the years."
