Global Awakening: Monster Taming Necromancer

Chapter 99: VIP

Kim sat behind his desk and waited until they arranged themselves on the three chairs provided for his guests. His eyes shone; he couldn't believe his eyes. 'VIP! Landed directly on his lap and not only that, don't they look familiar...'

His slender finger tapped his table casually. "So! What brought so important people to my front this morning?"

"Are you here to buy slaves? We have quality ones from almost all races, and you order specifically, and we'll hunt them for you. Oh! Not that? What about monsters?..."

Cormac sighed. "Kim, we're not here for all that and I'm sure you know."

Leader Kim twitched, but his smile remained, and his expression ever friendly. Nobody has ever called him just by his name since he became one of the leaders. "You're the customer, just tell me what you want and we'll try our best to satisfy you. But I'm obligated to tell you that by using the VIP and requesting a meeting with a leader then your fee....."

"Will be higher than normal, I know," Cormac grunted.

Temur didn't know what to make of Kim, but he knew one thing for sure: the man was putting on a mask. And the eyes trained on him are making his muscles twitch. 'Maybe they security? Anyway we better be ready for anything .net

Kim grinned. "Then you have nothing to worry about; whatever you are looking for, it's here!" His eyes landed on Temur and Jael again, and he frowned mentally; they sure looked familiar.

Cormac turned to his clients and stood. "Well, I've done my part. The rest is up to you. You're on VIP, so the money you will pay will be higher, but you are guaranteed quality."

"Wait," Jael sat up. "You're leaving?"

Cormac pointed his thumb up. "I'll be upstairs; I don't want to be mixed up with whatever you have going on. My own is to guide you here."

Kim waited until the door closed then he cleared his throat. "So! What is it you want? We can give you anything for the right price. Artifact? Bioweapons...."

"We need information." Temur cut him short.

"Oh," Kim pretended he didn't know that was what they were after. "So that's what you want. Well then, let's hear it."

Just then, the door opened, and the innkeeper hurried in; he handed him a piece of paper and then went out. Jael was watching Kim as he read the paper, and he saw his eyes flickered toward them with a slight frown.

He crumbled the paper and dropped it on the table. "Sorry for that, you were saying something?" He smiled brightly.

Somehow, Jael knew his smile was forced.

"We are looking for a man that we believe is in this town." Temur began.

Kim raised his hand. "Is the man a stranger to this town? It's easier to find such a person."

"Maybe? I don't know. We want to buy two pieces of information from you," Temur swallowed. Their hope of funding Litha is riding on this. "I want to know where Arkin is and I want to know everything you know about the chaos Cult."

For the first time that he entered the room, Jael saw the smile on Kim's face; he looked surprised, shocked even. "What?" He asked sharply.

Temur ignored his expression. "Tell me everything you know about Arkin and the chaos Cult."

Kim struggled to return his smile, but he couldn't; his hand drummed on the table as his head did fast calculations. "Now, that's something I wasn't expecting."

"You don't have such information?" Jael asked.

"Of course I do, it's just that this comes as a surprise...the chaos Cult and Arkin. We have information about the two."

"Then tell us," Temur grunted.

"Fifty thousand gold coins, and you will pay before I give you the information."

Temur leaned forward; there was a dangerous glint in his dark eyes. "And what if you gave us insufficient information?"

Kim shrugged. "You want to buy everything we know, we will give you that. Now the matter of if it's insufficient is your problem, don't you think?"

The two stared at each other, and the air grew just a bit heavy from the aura of the two of them. Just shifted. Even the hidden guards are tense and ready for action.

"Of course," Temur said and brought out the gold in a small bag, he began to count.

Kim sighed mentally. What's the deal with these two? For an instant there, it almost looked like a naked blade rested on his neck. He shook his head and drummed fast with his finger– it's a signal, a form of communication for those hidden and listening.

Kim confirmed the amount of the gold coins and his smile brightened. A servant entered not long after that and brought a metal tray with two files on top.

He flipped through, and then he handed one over to Jael and the other to Temur. He waited silently as they read, and his smile remained as his calculation began to fall into place in his head.

Jael sighed. He just finished reading about the Chaos Cult, and he explained what he had read to Temur. "......so at the end there's not much known about them. Not about their HQ or even any central base or their aim. And yes, they have powerful people backing."

Temur nodded. He was frowning, and his eyes glazed over, and then he blinked. "Hummmm. I see so the information about them is not useful."

"So you have better luck than me."

Temur nodded. "Our man, Arkin. He's here alright. He came to this town not too long ago, and he's been laying low."

"Then let's go get him!" Jael said this is by far the biggest news he's heard this week.

Temur shook his head with a grimace. "We have a small problem, Arkin is the guest of the Black Axe. He's been staying with them since he came here."

Jael sat frozen, 'yes, then you have a problem, alright,' he thought. Then he smiled. "How about it, Kim? How much will information about the black axe cost?"
