Chapter 25: Rot monster II
Temur watched Jael broke two trees with his back with a grimace. Honestly, the guy is doing well all things considered. He could remember the time he was Awakened and how long it took for him to start pulling his weight but Jael adapted like a fish to water.
Temur grinned. 'He's the type of guy to depend on in a fight'
He had been trying to build his attack when the monster punched Jael. His aura technique at this level can be infused into things to make it stronger, like his sword or anything really, makes it cut faster and sharper too.
He lifted his sword high and began to run, overlapping his sword with aura while at it until it burns with red light, his sword gain weight as he added more until even he almost started struggling to hold it, as soon as he got within striking distance, he slashed!
The aura lashed out lightning fast, taller than Temur and burning with a frenzied light, it collided with the monster just as it's three hands cut down on Jael. The aura arc struck the hands and cut the first one off while it bit deeply into the other two before it fizzled out.
Jael flinched as dark blood fell on him while the monster stumbled backwards, writhing in pain and screaming. He looked towards Temur with a dazed eyes. He thought the monster might do some numbers on him.
Temur rested on his sword, his bulk held up by it. That move used up a lot of his energy. "We made a critical hit." He nodded at the fallen hand.
But the other hands are not fallen, which was why Jael was surprised that it was not attacking them immediately. The monster paused before slowly turning to Temur, then it's mouth opened.
They understood what it wanted to do almost too late.
The monster exhale out, the smell of rotting flesh was followed by an Intense searing black colored wave that scorched everything on its path.
"Woooo!" Temur exclaimed. He slashed the air, creating a small bust if aura that splited the wave into two and made him avoid the worst of it. Fortunately it was a single short breath.
This time the monster Inhale and they knew it was going to exhale another bust of its acidic breath. Jael lifted his hand. "Unholy magic."
And Temur put some aura into his sword, preparing to use his remaining power well.
But neither of them had to worry because a thin shimmering blue light pierced the monster in the jaw. It shattered its front fangs and burning away layers of flesh.
The monster lashed out blindly, it's injured hand snapping at empty air as it let out a high winning shrill and then another one, wider and less destructive beam followed immediately, ramming into the monster's side and sent it staggering.
Jael looked towards Litha with the big orb of mana floating above her, and relief flooded him. "That should be enough to put it down." He said.
"Well." Temur said. They all watched as the monster rolled into a ball, all its four remaining hands was pulled inside its flesh as if it was a shell. What now stood in front of them was a big mass of rotted flesh. "What's it deal?"
It was difficult to know the amount of damage they caused by just looking at it because of the amount of rotting flesh. So Jael kept his distance. His hand still covered in his magic, just in case. "I don't think it's dead."
"It better be. I'm low on mana." Litha said dryly, she narrowed her eyes at the monster. Nothing has went her way since they got kidnapped. It's one trouble after the other.
"I'm pretty low too." Temur said.
Jael shook his head. He hadn't expanded much of his Unholy magic, most of what he has been using since is just raw strength from Hermit. "Is it finally over?" Although he might still have energy, he had taken a lot of hit and he didn't fancy fighting again.
Litha drew back the remaining mana. "Well, at least we can escape now....."
Hermit screamed in Jael's head and he leaped forward, he crashed into Litha and sent her away. She was the only one he could reach, Temur was too far away.
The monster was not dead after all because moment before Jael moved, it erupted outward, it's four hands busted out, each filled with corrosive black energy that it flunged out. A direct black spun Jael through the air, the acidic energy burned through his clothes and latching into his flesh and started to eat him.
Jael cried out in panic, he slapped his hand over his chest but all he did was smeared his hand with the substance as it stared to eat his hands too.
Temur was also in the same state, rolling on the floor and trying to get the acidic energy from him.
Litha looked from the three to where the monster who was making its way towards them. She thought fast. "I really, really hate working with Idiots." She ran towards the monster, shouting as she did. "Use your inner power to fight it! You aura and Unholy magic!"
Jael didn't almost hear with the way his skin burn but his heighten hearing helped him out and he focused on his magic, pulling out and covering himself with it until his whole body started to burn with green light.
"Ahhhgh!' The two energy collided, causing more pain but slowly the corrosive energy was gutted. Jael lay there on the ground breathing hard, it felt as if acid was being injected into his blood.
Temur also lay groaning not far away, his body still smoldering from his red aura.
Jael looked towards where Litha and the monster was and at first he thought the pain in his head was making him see things. But when he looked again, panic set in and he tried and failed to stand.
The monster opened its mouth to roar and Litha, covered in blazing blue light like the embers of a dying star, jumped into its open mouth.
