Chapter 127: The rich kid
"The suspect, Kaelith the Blood Necromancer have been charged into the Judgment department of the Tower Guard for being in an illegal organizations. And for attack and trying to kill Thayer Argent of the Argent.
"His accomplice, Lord Owen have already received the death since he has confessed. We are trying our best to track the rest...."
Litha stopped and raised her brows at the rest of her team. "Even the Tower Guards isn't here for the people. Fortunately they keep our parts secret. Not that they want the Tower to know you guys practically do their work for them."
It's been five days since the incident and they are in the biggest. room in one of the Argent's hotels. Since it's part of their contract they've been holed up here since that night. Chapter Discover:
Temur snorted. "What does it matter? We don't want them to pin anything on us anyway. And besides, let Argent get his limelight as his Gold team will be recognized through this for helping the Tower Guards."
Things moved fast after that because the rest of Ryker's men were standing guard outside and quickly poured in to answer their Captain's call.
But Kaelith wasn't the only one arrested that night, Ryker used the opportunity to clean the Town. All the smaller organizations connected to Kaelith were raided and the people working for Lord Ola as well.
Even the underground where Kaelith bought his slaves. In this way, the Tower Guards also got a bit of more power in floor 101. Jael shook his head, all the death they caused that night was swept under the rug.
"And the boy is sucking it up!" Jael said. "He's busy all through, from one meeting to another. He's really using the opportunity to sell more of his Guild. I'm surprised his father haven't shown up yet though."
"I doubt he'll show, from what I understand his father wants to leave him alone with his climbing and his Guild building." Litha said. "Unless absolutely necessary, but then again that's just my guess."
"And yet Thayer won't stop throwing his name around, that crafty bastard." Jael yawned.
They talked some more, since five days ago that the incident happened this is the first time they be staying together for the whole day, because they have been in constant meeting with the Tower Guards.
Although their names was removed from the official investigation and findings, Ryker still need them to put together his report. And so far everything is going smoothly, the Tower Guards and the Gold Guild took the credit.
A win win situation for everyone.
Litha is also recovering fast, the only thing she need is food and rest and she's been having a lot of it but the reason she made sure the three of them gather this morning is because of an important news. "It's been decided that the floor test will happen by the end of the month which is in a week's time."
She wasn't worried about training, the adventures they've had this previous weeks better be enough to pass the test. "In my absence, I heard that you boys spent all of our money. So we are back to the beginning."
Jael cleared his throat. "The money was spent on...."
Litha smiled brightly. "On me, thank you very much guys. But we have a problem to face. We need money, we need to prepare for the test. Food, potions, weapons and the essentials. Meaning we have to make money as fast as possible.
"This floor Test is important, it's determine a lot of things for us so I want us to as prepared as we can. We also have to prepare for the immediate expenses of the next floor. Things are going to be even more expensive."
Temur sighed. "So the usual?"
Litha exchanged looks with Jael and nodded. "Yes, the usual."
*****
For the remaining of they month they worked really hard, the only profitable job they can find is monster hunting. But it was in their favor because Ryker pulled some strings for them and get them to hunt in the Tower Guards personal zones.
Actually, Litha was the one that brought the idea of them going to see him. Because from her view, won't he give them anything for their part in his promotion?
So they hunt monsters and sell. The Guards are also willing to buy from them for some reasonable prices. The hunt was easier for them than before, maybe because most of the monsters are less than A Iron rank but each hunt in a zone was always accompanied with large numbers of dead monsters.
Their instincts to danger have been sharpened and whatever was left of any naive fighting style have been cut away by their experience in the black castle zone and the event with the chaos Cult.
Thayer was also busy with his own Guild because a large number of applicants are turning up daily. And now the 'Lords' of the floor are sucking up with him to avoid getting crushed, so now he have to also navigate any political games.
But even with all this he was also preparing for the test that's coming and he has an important information. Do improve that he was waiting for Jael and his team by their door just a day before the test.
Immediately Litha saw him she groaned. "The last time you came to us like this we ended up in a twisted life and death game and I get kidnapped. And almost die, like seven times."
Thayer was all smiles as he counted his fingers. "First last time was because we both are in need. Second, no one know it's going to be a named zone and lastly even with all this you are still alive. In no small thanks to me. Good to see you are well and killing again Litha sweet!"
He followed them inside the apartment, making himself at home on the soft chair and looking at the three looking at him in different shades of 'we don't want trouble', he laughed. "Are you going to name your team?"
