Chapter 115: Party II
As with most towns, there's often an invisible line dividing the very rich people's residence from everyone else. It wasn't different in Eldrida – it's called the upper district even though it's located downtown.
The streets are wide and allow the free passage of people and mana-powered carriages. But tonight was a bit different as the streets of the upper district filled with carriages as the rich people went to party.
But out of all the carriages moving that night, only one stood apart from the rest. It was painted a bright gold that shimmered softly as the moonlight touched it as it was made of real gold after all.
On both sides is the carved image of a man smiling broadly, and every carriage gives it space to pass them because even among the rich, there's also the rich.
Whispers followed it.

"Is that him?"
"That's his son?"
"The one who just created a Guild? Wow, he's showing off, right? I heard his new zone is now considered one of the best...."
"... yes that's Argent."
Thayer was used to all this so he just smiled inside his carriage as it rolled past. He was dressed in a combination of gold and black suit with a wolf mask on since this was a mask party. He was alone inside his carriage and his thoughts drifted to everything that happened since.
It's been two weeks since Jael and Temur got information from Arkin, and all they've been doing since is planning how things will work their way. Thayer, who didn't want to get involved, can't eventually help himself and commit fully.
He smiled softly inside his mask, he did enjoy watching those two do anything but train and prepare. And finally, everything was falling into place.
A voice interrupted his thoughts from outside. "Lord Thayer, we are here."
The door opened and he stepped out into the lawn of a small castle. Tonight, the richest of this floor will gather, and things will happen that have never happened before. He mumbled to himself. "Crashing parties, how boring."
"My Lord?" His carriage driver asked politely. He's taller than most, and his mask is a black wood with dark lines painted on it; his thick hand still holds the door open.
"Ah, it isn't you. Well then, don't be late to bring my carriage around when I'm done." Thayer thew back as he made his way inside. For many reasons, he's looking forward to tonight.

Temur was strung tight, and it was not because of the formal clothes he was wearing. It's because he's about to do something that might stop him from climbing the Tower forever.
He stirred the golden carriage towards the small park where every other carriage was gathered and would wait until the party was over. The drivers should stay with their carriage, so it wasn't odd for Temur to lean against his.
"Wow, is that the driver of the rich guy? To think he'll paint his carriage gold!"
The drivers began to whisper among themselves.
"Maybe he's just trying to show the true meaning of his Guild!....because it's named after gold!"
They laughed again, and Temur sighed; soon, the conversation would change to him, and he was trying to avoid that as much as possible.
"And why's that kind of man doing as driver for that kind of man? That's no class!"
"He's too bulky! My, is he even human?"
Temur didn't know why they had to pretend when they were going to end up causing chaos anyway.
"Aahahahaha!" A laughter rang out suddenly. "What does his being human have to do with anything? We'll all be here to do our job, right?"
Temur knew that voice well; Jael strode into view. He was dressed sharply in a green suit, and his mask was painted silver with the face of a rare beast – the wrinkled face of the Onus.
Honestly, Temur thinks Jael and Thayer are trying to play at some friction characters. Because why all this when they were going to end up still trashing everything? He went along with everything because, at the end of the day, the important thing is that they get Litha back.
Jael pulled Temur away from the gossiping drivers. "You can't be a spy to save your life! You're like a ramming machine."
He shrugged. "Then I won't ever try my hands at it. Isn't it better to just crush what's in your way?"
"And when you meet something you can't crush? That's when finesse comes in. The subtle art!"
"Hey! You two are not supposed to be here; turn back now when you still have the chance." One of the personal guards of Lord Ola.
They both turned. Lord Ola is the known name of the rich man that owns this castle but there's another name known not to everyone– High Priest Ola.
He's one of the direct subordinates of Kaelith and the place where the Blood Necromancer is hiding. Arkin told them this and more during the investigation.
He suggested this would be the place he would be hiding, and with careful investigation together with the Tower Guards, they found that it was true. Kaidos was sighted here, and when they traced their underworld transactions, it turned out they'd been buying a lot of slaves recently, and they were certainly interested in slave trading.
Thayer did the rest; he pulled strings and used his name to build pressure without others knowing and forced Lord Ola to organize a party because, of course, a man of his social status must bend.
And that's what led Temur and Jael here, walking around the castle to where a second building was located. "Is this guy threatening us?" Temur asked.
"I don't think so; I mean, this guy is Iron but not on our level; can't Lord Ola employ powerful people?"
Temur thought about it. "Well, they don't think anyone will be trespassing during a party."
The guard was both surprised and furious at the same time. "I'm going to kill you two!" How dare they look down on him like that?
