Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 312: Men

As soon as Shane touched the machine, a familiar scene occurred in front of him, and he was the only one who could see it.

In his eyes, the damaged machine gun underwent a remarkable change, as if it had entered a game interface.

There were glowing hues of red and blue illuminating various components of the machine, giving him clues about the condition of the machine.

The radiant blue segments indicated the machinery's good or usable condition, while the crimson glow highlighted the areas that were in need of repair.

Furthermore, a miniature holographic projection materialized, offering Shane an intricate 3D visualization of the mechanism, enabling him to commence the repair process.

As he examined the array of options that materialized before him, he was presented with the choice to either Dismantle or Repair the mechanism…

This time, he decided not to repair it and dismantled it instead.

In an instant, the Machine Gun started dismantling as they floated in the air!

Then, all of it, without missing anything, not even a screw, entered his Inventory!

Finally, this Wild Shelter was completely defenseless. After settling this, Shane opened the gate for Lysandra to enter.

Once inside the walls, Lysandra found the Shelter eerily quiet. There was indeed no one inside this place like what Shane told her.

The watchtowers were empty, and the courtyard was deserted.

Of course, Shane and Lysandra still moved cautiously while their senses were on high alert.

Soon, they entered the main building, a structure made of dark wood and stone.

Inside, they found a trove of supplies and treasures. Shelves lined the walls, filled with potions, scrolls, and various magical items!

Lastly, there were Chests overflowed with gold and precious gems.

"This must be Malakar's hoard," Lysandra whispered, her eyes wide with amazement.

Shane nodded, his gaze scanning the room. "Let's take what we can carry. We need to be quick."

Shane said as he picked up one of the gold coins.

He then stored it in his Inventory, and as expected, it was the Versailles Empire's Gold Coin! It was the same coin that Raze had given to him, together with other scrolls and potions!

"Interesting…" Shane muttered as he saw a bag and used it to gather the items.

They filled their bags with valuable items, prioritizing those that would be most useful in their journey. Potions that seemed to be capable of healing, enchanted weapons, and rare ingredients were among their haul.

As they worked, Shane couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction…

"Ahh… Clan Leader, look at this." Lysandra suddenly said. Shane immediately glanced in her direction and found what he was looking for.

"It's the Shelter Crystal. Great…"

Shane said as he didn't hesitate to touch it.

[ You have obtained an Intermediate Shelter Crystal. ]

[ Intermediate Shelter Crystal: A crystal imbued with the essence of the Shelter. It has the power to claim a small piece of land for its wielder. Once activated, the crystal will swiftly repel zombies or other undead creatures from the designated area until it reaches full energy capacity. It will also help with Production Speed, Culture Points, Building Durability, and Defense of the Shelter.

Once the crystal's energy is filled, lower-tier Zombies and some mid-tier Zombies will be less likely to attack your Shelter, and you can activate the special effect of the crystal to protect your land.

Current Energy: 70%

Shelter Crystal Effect: Sentinel's Hawkeyes ]

[ Sentinel's Hawkeyes: Anyone stationed as a Sentinel in your Shelter's watchtowers will have Enhanced Sight, Night Vision, and Detection. ]

[ Do you want to retrieve the Intermediate Shelter Crystal and make this Shelter unprotected? ]

[ Hint: Energy Fill will revert back to zero once the crystal is removed. ]

"Nice… It's an Intermediate Shelter Crystal…" Shane was certainly happy to see this. He then shared the news with Lysandra and explained how the Beginner Shelter Crystal has no effects like the one they just obtained.

After confirming that they looted everything here…

They soon realized that a group of people were waiting for them outside the Shelter!

Shane and Lysandra didn't notice their presence, and only Cloud was able to sense it. It seemed that these people who were hiding had magical items that could avoid their detection.

"Stay inside the shelter," Shane whispered to Lysandra. "I'll come up with a plan."

Lysandra nodded, her eyes sharp and focused as she tried sensing the enemies outside.

However, not even her Danger Sense was activating.

Soon, Shane shared his plan and decided to use her as bait.

Lysandra wryly smiled at this but his was certainly not a bad idea.

Then, Shane silently moved to a vantage point within the Shelter.

After a signal was received, Lysandra finally stepped out of the Shelter and walked a few meters before she finally felt the presence of twelve people, all armed and aiming their guns at her.

"Don't move…" One of the men said as he slowly came out of the bushes. Five other people followed him while the six remained hidden elsewhere.

Lysandra remained calm while her hand moved to activate the Sentinel Sphere, a barrier generator she had received from Shane.

Whom~

A gleaming barrier suddenly enveloped her, protecting her from the immediate threat. It may not be enough to take several dozens of rounds from their guns, but it should be able to take a few.

"Ho~ A barrier, huh…" one of the men sneered.

"Give us all the items you got inside, or you're dead," another demanded. He was a bearded man who was looking at Lysandra's chest explicitly.

"Do not think of trying to pull your weapon, or we'll shoot you. That barrier can, at most, block 10 to 15 bullets. That's not enough to protect you." a third warned, his finger twitching on the trigger. He didn't want to kill this beautiful woman as well, so he was really hoping that she'd just follow their instructions.

"Right... Where's the man who entered the Shelter with you?" One of them finally asked.

Lysandra, on the other hand, wasn't listening to them. Her thoughts were elsewhere.

'Are they from the Nightfall Nexus? I can't remember their faces,' she mused.
