Chapter 307: Battle against the Wild Shelter
The leader of the guards held his hammer tightly as he realized the identity of the enemy.
"I remember now… That's the leader of the Wild Shelter nearby!" He hissed, his voice was also filled with dread, making those other Survivors who heard his words nervous.
As the news spread, they all realized they were in trouble.
They had previously sent scouts to the Wild Shelter nearby and confirmed that it was a territory that was very difficult to conquer. After all, they have machine guns and various traps protecting their Shelter!
Furthermore, the elites of their Clan had been sent on a mission to clear a Zombie Den! They haven't returned yet, and it would most likely take plenty of time to return.
"Not good…"
"Battling against them in close combat will be tough."
"The shelter owner is a Necromancer for sure."
"Sir Marlon, they're getting closer. We only have one full moon clip each!"
Marlon, the leader of the guards, frowned.
Lysandra's heart sank. The revolvers may not have magazines, but they have moon clips. A full-moon clip holds six rounds, while a half-moon clip holds three rounds.
In her opinion, this shouldn't be enough to kill all those enemies in front of them. Furthermore, if they all used up their bullets, they'd get into trouble if their battle attracted zombies.
In short, they have to target the leader if they want to win!
Unfortunately, the leader was too far. Unless they have firearm mastery or accuracy-related skill and talent, they would just waste their bullets.
"Let's just treat them as normal walker zombies! However, engaging them in close combat can be tough with their shields and swords. We will focus on killing them from a distance using arrows, stones, and our guns! That Necromancer shouldn't be capable of summoning more skeleton warriors. If we killed them all, he would surely retreat.
Our elites will deal with its Shelter once they return." Marlon declared.
He decided to just eliminate the skeleton soldiers instead of aiming for the leader. It may resolve the main problem, but it would help them delay this matter
"We'll protect this Shelter! Let's show them the might of the Nightfall Nexus!"
Marlon shouted, but this wasn't just a cringeworthy battle cry. He actually used a skill called Alpha's Roar that provided a boost to all allied units.
The defenders braced themselves as the skeletons reached a certain distance to their palisade.
Soon, arrows flew through the air, striking the skeletal warriors, but they continued their advance, undeterred by the damage. As expected, it was difficult to kill them with their shields that could stop arrows.
However, it didn't end there. After their arrows were used up and killed a dozen Skeleton Zombies thanks to some lucky shots struck their skulls, they swiftly picked up the stones they had prepared originally for Crawler and Walker Zombies as these stones could easily shatter the brains of the Zombies, especially those with at least 40 Strength.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Thankfully, before they used up all their stones, they destroyed about 20 Zombies in the process.
"Those shields are really annoying." Marlon muttered as he signaled for his men to use their Revolvers.
"Leave at least three rounds! Do not use all of your bullets!" Marlon added. He knew that it was good to use all their rounds.
Soon, a series of gunshots reverberated throughout the surroundings, scaring those within the Shelter… Thankfully, although they don't have the best accuracy, they were able to eliminate more than 50 of them! At this time, only about 25 Skeleton Soldiers remained!
With such a low number, they were confident to deal with these creatures even in close combat. Furthermore, one of the officers of the Nightfall Nexus had already gathered some combatants in the Shelter, and they were already behind the gate waiting for it to be opened.
Marlon and five of his men also went down from the rampart to assist in the battle. Lysandra was also invited, seeing that she actually had a weapon with her.
As the gate opened, the defenders with shields rushed forward.
Lysandra joined the fray as she was curious if these Skeletons were actually lootable. She wielded her sword and aimed for a Skeleton that had lost its shield…
Clank!
The bone was actually tougher than she expected but after her second strike, she was able to shatter its bone…
'It can't be looted, huh… What a pity.' Lysandra mused.
At this time, Marlon's hammer struck one of the Skeleton Warriors. His weapon swung with devastating force, shattering bones with each strike.
"They're brittle! Just avoid their rusted swords," He shouted.
After all, they may not turn into a zombie, but they could die from tetanus from their rusty swords.
All the Survivors were confident that they could win against so few Skeleton Warriors. Although they have powerful slashes with their swords, their movements are predictable, and at this point, the Survivor's agility could help them dodge their swords easily.
They all knew that it was only a matter of time before they could eliminate all these Skeleton Warriors.
However, as the battle raged on, Lysandra noticed something strange.
"Mhmm?"
The skeletons that were previously destroyed started repairing themselves!
Although they were still weak even after being repaired, they could still cause some trouble if they couldn't stop this once and for all!
Furthermore, the skeletons seemed to be drawn to a specific point on the wall, as if they were searching for something.
She followed their gaze and saw a figure standing in the shadows, directing the horde with a wave of his hand.
To her shock, the cloaked leader of the Shelter, who was supposedly behind the Skeletons, was already at the rampart killing those who were left!
"Not good! The Necromancer was already up there!" Lysandra shouted to get everyone's attention!
Marlon and the other officers were shocked as they quickly glanced at the rampart!
Indeed, the cloaked figure was already there strangling the last guard at the rampart.
"Kekeke… You finally noticed me." The figure said as he looked down on them.
