Chapter 257
The cold wind blowing on the ice-cold glacier was akin to blades. Frost covered King Alex's face, and at the moment he spoke the 4th verse, he baselessly collapsed. The Yin-Yang Twin Dragon necklace in his hands fell into the cold river, sinking towards the bottom while releasing a weak glow.
"Such a pity!"
Jiang Xiu shook his head with a sigh while looking at King Alex's dead body. Since fate had allowed him to gain a secret method to seize the luck of the world, if he had used it correctly, there wouldn't have been a limit to what he could've achieved, and it was also an omen of becoming a God. However, he had committed the most taboo affair, which was divulging the secrets of heaven and thus incurred divine wrath.
"However, that Yin-Yang Twin Dragons necklace is really amazing. It allowed him to peep at the mysteries of heaven after death. Though damaged, it's an unusual artifact." Jiang Xiu's gaze moved towards the river.
"Hmm?"
It was easy to find the necklace in the river as it was releasing a pale glow. He planned to go underwater but the glow suddenly dimmed down, and that necklace vanished as well. It had disappeared right in front of Jiang Xiu's eyes.
"That's strange."
Jiang Xiu naturally hadn't hallucinated. He could see underwater with ease, and that necklace had indeed disappeared. It was as if that necklace didn't belong to this world and had now returned to its world.
It was also a pity that such a magical thing was gone.
After curbing his mood, Jiang Xiu discovered that he was lost. Since he was in pursuit all along, he didn't know where he was right now. From the foreigners he had seen while he was pursuing, he concluded that this place might be near to Siberia.
In the battle, it didn't take much of his strength to kill those 23 demigods. The saber array was the most crucial. It had almost taken all of his divine force to create it, and after pursuing all the way here, he felt a little tired.
However, he couldn't see any villages or establishments where he could rest, so he planned to look for a place to take rest and recover.
He walked for a good amount of distance but met no one on the road. At the riverfront, he noticed an igloo. It was a place to live made using ice-cubes in extremely cold regions and a life-saving measure to the inhabitants. Since it'd allow Jiang Xiu to resist the cold a little, he went inside.
He sat cross-legged and took out the two Longevity Stones he had gained this time, held each in his hands and began to refine them.
The first step of saber cultivation was to form the saber pill, the next step was to nurture the saber pill using heavenly materials like the Longevity Stone.
Since he was already a God now, the refining process was much faster and safer.
To a saber cultivator, the might of the saber pill depended on the user's fighting strength. Only by having a solid foundation could one achieve high accomplishments in saber cultivation.
"I hope that one day, a saber soul is born which will, in turn, lead to soul variation!"
This was something Jiang Xiu longed for. In his previous life, he had cultivated the sword, and though he had extremely high accomplishments in sword cultivation, reached a stage which made others gasp in amazement and could even defeat a sword soul variation sword cultivator of the same rank, he had never formed a sword soul and never undergone soul variation. This was something which he regretted. His friends all said to him that the time hasn't come yet and it wasn't that he'd never form a sword soul, after all, his accomplishments in sword cultivation proved his talent. However, Jiang Xiu knew that the minuscule percent of incompatibility with the sword had become his heart devil and kept him from passing through to the next step.
Now that he was using the saber, he felt everything was harmonious, feeling carefree and unrestrained. In the future, he planned to visit the Star-Pearl Rock in the Immortal Martial Continent to check his compatibility with the saber.
He sat there for an unknown amount of time, right until the two Longevity Stones were entirely refined by him. The saber pill inside his divinity source had enlarged by two times and glowed with a clearer radiance.
"Let's test it!"
A white light flickered at his forehead, followed by a sword light flashing past. It rushed out of the igloo and pulled him along towards the skies.
He had turned into a white beam of light soaring towards the sky.
"Whooooo!"
"Awesome!"
It gave him a thrilling feel. To compare, it was as if he were driving a little Alto before and now going crazy on a Ferrari. That feeling of flying in the wind made him feel as if he had recovered a bit of his style with which he had carried himself in the Immortal Martial Continent.
Only, this still made his body feel a little burdened, so he dropped down again.
"It looks like now that the four Longevity Stones are together, there's some kind of mystical response between them." Although there weren't any other substances which could give rise to a variation or upgrade the saber pill, there were a total of six slots at the base of the Holy Woman's statue. It was possible that the unique function all of these Longevity Stones possessed unique abilities and the way to use them was to gather all six together.
"It looks like the Godhead's strength has also increased a bit!"
Although he had nourished the saber pill, the saber pill was also a part of his body. Since it had grown stronger, his Godhead had also strengthened, but there was no change in the divine regalia.
The path of divinity cultivation consisted of many stages - Fractual God, Earth God, Heavenly God, Godking…
Fractual God was in turn divided into three grades - Low God, Mid God, and High God.
Now, his power was already close reaching the peak of the Low God stage.
Jiang Xiu's current target was to reach the Earth God stage and break free from the fetters of this earth and enter the universe, so he can set foot on the path towards returning to the Immortal Martial Continent. This path was too long and difficult to achieve in the short term.
As for Heavenly Gods, they were extremely powerful and could travel in the universe freely. He was still far from reaching such a stage, so he planned to become an Earth God first then return to the Immortal Martial Continent where he could prepare to attack the barrier of the Heavenly God stage.
As for the Godking stage, it was far from his reach.
Gods awakened their bloodlines by fusing with the world's laws and Immortals relied on comprehending the grand dao of the world. The two paths were entirely different yet their destination one and the same.
"It's really troublesome to raise my strength!"
On the Immortal Martial Continent, if only a person had enough talent and puts in the effort to cultivate while seizing a few suitable opportunities, the chances of becoming an Earth God were pretty high. But on Earth, the spiritual energy had depleted, and if he only relied on his divine bloodline to awaken, he'd sooner or later hit a roadblock and even die.
Though it wouldn't reach such a stage where he'd die as his disciple, Jian Yi (Sword One) had sent him the necessary cultivation materials, it'd take around over 300 years to reach him, and this was no better than death to him.
Do I sit in wait and become a fossil?
He was actually looking forward to the shocking prediction which King Alex had divined, but he died by divine wrath before he could finish speaking the entire thing.
"The Holy Woman slumbers in the river; Divine punishment descends on Heaven's Gate. At the moment the Twin Dragons crumble, a world of neither Yin nor Yang…"
Jiang Xiu wasn't an ordinary person. As someone who was living his second life, he knew what would happen in the future. He recalled that in his previous life, there were rumors that 2012 was the end of the world and these rumors had scared a lot of people. Many believed this rumor, but in the end, the world hadn't ended, and though it wasn't clear why so many people were saying the world would end, the outcome was the only thing that mattered.
But now, the future had already changed. King Alex's death was precisely proof of it. The words he had spoken ought to be true or else he wouldn't have died due to divine wrath.
"A world of neither Yin nor Yang…"
Jiang Xiu really looked forward to it. He wished for this world to return to how it was during the ancient era and give birth to spiritual energy again. On the Immortal Martial Continent, he had read in a book about how a hole had opened up in the Heavens of a similar low-level planet which led to spiritual energy rushing inside and transforming that science and technology-oriented world into a world of cultivation.
He felt that it'd be good if something like that happened.
If so, he'd have the assurance to become an Earth God before 400 years passed and break through the fetters of this earth so he could return to the Immortal Martial Continent.
"Life is indeed unpredictable…"
"Seizing the present is the right path!"
After saying this, this guy shamelessly sat down to cultivate again. He didn't know how long he cultivated this time. Currently, even if he did cultivate, the progress he made was slow so it was better to purify his divine force which would lay down a strong foundation for the higher stages.
The foundation was of utmost importance for cultivation. If the foundation was unstable, it was possible to fall down a stage when injured. The same stands true when an extremely powerful divine skill was used or if there was an incompatibility with the body.
To sum it up, he was looking for a pretext to cultivate.
A month passed by just like that. On this day, a couple came to the river bank and bore a hole into the ice to fish, but actually saw a frosted shadow slowly moving underneath. That elderly lady got frightened immediately, "O'Mother. Old man, see what's below."
The old man stared at it in a daze then shouted, "It's a human, a dead body!"
The old man called a few people to smash open the ice layer and fish up the frozen dead body outside. It was none other than our cultivation madman, Jiang Xiu. His had actually plunged into the river and enabled the free drift mode. Even he was unclear about how many places he had gone through.
