Chapter 661 Bad Taste
Chapter 661 Bad Taste
There was only one clear answer for how to use this Treasure.
All this time, Sylas' Mancer's Blossom had only had the Ice and Poison elements to it. In addition, the substance that it used to elevate to this level was lacking.
It had to be remembered that his Mancer's Wand had only evolved to Mancer's Blossom after absorbing the blessings from the Frostbane Sylph Dungeon.
The Frostbane Rune of the Sylphs wasn't even 50 Foundations. Because of that, the Runes that Sylas could benefit from were lacking.
Of course, there were still 70 and even 80 Foundation Runes within Mancer's Blossom, But their scope and range were limited, while it would be impossible to find Runes with higher Foundations than that.
Plus, there was another main issue: it didn't have the new Wood affinity that Sylas had gained.
But this just might fix that.
Sylas looked around for a moment. But seeing that there was still no one around, and that Alex and the others were still nowhere to be seen, he chose to take a chance.
It wasn't as though he had a home to return to. At least he didn't have one that was anywhere close to this place. So he likely wouldn't get any opportunity better than this
one.
The Mancer's Bloom tree appeared and Sylas immediately felt a resonance between it and the Glass Pinecone.
The latter flew out of his hand and buried itself into the body of the tree, and then Mancer's Bloom began to crack apart.
Sylas watched calmly. He knew that panicking now wouldn't do much for him. Whatever was happening, it was already far too late to stop.
He crossed his arms, his eyes focused on the scene before him, but his senses were primed onto the region, watching out for any changes that might take place.
These changes, though, didn't come from the surroundings. Instead, Mancer's Blossom shrunk down until what was left was even smaller than the original Glass Pinecone. In fact, it looked like only a single seed of the pinecone was left behind.
The seed looked like it was blown from glass much like the pinecone it originated from. It reflected a rainbow of lights when the sun hit it just right, but otherwise... it just floated there.
Sylas reached out after nothing happened for a while. He was only trying to analyze it with his scouting Skill when...
CHI.
The glass seed shot forward, burying itself into his forehead before he could even react.
Sylas froze. For a moment, he thought that this might be what it felt like to get shot in the head. The destruction was so fast and sudden that there was no time to feel any pain before your brain was turned to mush.
But then he realized the fact that he could have these thoughts at all should mean that he wasn't dead... at least not yet.
The seed burrowed itself into Sylas' body. He could practically feel it tearing through the layers of his very being until it vanished entirely.
That was when Sylas knew that the seed had gone deeper than what his Taboo Bond Legendary Path could analyze. It was now buried somewhere deeper than his Blood Essence.
For a moment, he thought that he had lost. Maybe he would have to wait until he could upgrade Extricate considerably before he could manage. He even thought about using up the last of his Free Experience to see if he could find it.
But soon, it became clear that that was unnecessary... because soon the feeling of its existence came from an entirely different set of senses from his Extricate Path Talent... His Will.
A radiant, reflective light came from Sylas' eyes. For a moment, it looked as though his eyes had become frosted over by glass, like they were no longer formed of flesh and blood, but rather had been delicately carved by an artisan.
Sylas could feel that something was happening to his Will. It was shifting and changing, but in a way that was far more unnatural than ever before.
'Did I make a mistake?'
Something about this felt artificial. It was making his Will stronger, but he didn't like the method.
Sylas simply didn't believe that external items should be able to impact your Will. He preferred it when all of his improvement, especially for his Will, was dependent solely on himself.
The feeling of an external item coming in to spark a change within him left him feeling completely disgusted.
That sense only grew the stronger his Will became, and soon he was outright frowning. The bad taste in his mouth was practically tangible now.
"Get out."
Sylas' Will unleashed a push that rejected the fusion of the seed so strongly that it rattled in his mind.
The energy of the seed was already quite gentle, and though it was quickly burying itself into Sylas' body, it wasn't prepared to deal with such rejection.
There was a tug, push, and pull. The seed seemed to put up some token resistance, but ultimately it didn't know what to do.
Sylas even felt some of its sadness, as though it was disappointed by his choice.
Rather than becoming more comfortable as the seed acquiesced to his rejection, though... Sylas found himself feeling even more uncomfortable as though this wasn't the right answer either.
'Gluttony...'
Sylas tugged on the Gluttony Seed and the energy of the seed was pulled up through the layers of his body, rapidly accelerating toward regions Sylas could sense more clearly. However, when it was about to be taken in by the Gluttony Seed, Sylas felt a strong tugging coming from the Greed Seed.
A flash of rage sparked in Sylas' eyes.
He hadn't had any intention on letting the Gluttony Seed take the energy, he had had another plan entirely. But it seemed that this Greed Seed was intent on provoking him.
This was his body. His Treasure. He did as he pleased with it and no external item could change that.
Sylas' rage seemed to fuel the embers of his Will.
