Chapter 456: Hero Points
Chapter 456: Hero Points
Sylas woke up with a sharp glint in his eyes. He shifted slightly and his bones popped and cracked, his muscles awakening like a dragon stretching itself taut after a long slumber.
The moon was still high in the sky, shimmering with a beautiful fullness. However, Sylas didn't have the eyes for it. Instead, he was looking at the new notification on his screen.
When he saw Leg 006's introduction, he understood that things must have gone very well. It also confirmed for him that the system wasn't just fair; it was biased toward those it supported.
The Sylphs had no business here, and the system knew it. As such, whenever they exposed themselves, the system would give him all the chances in the world to crush them.
These realizations, though, only made him more wary. He definitely wasn't the only intelligent person in the world. For Earth to have failed so many times even with such advantages, and powerful existences like the Dogons and Clypsians as their predecessors... It could only mean that their enemies were far stronger than he knew.
He stood to his feet.
For now, he wouldn't be going to the Ebonspire. To him, the Ravenclaws were never the threat. The people he needed to crush were the Sylphs.
This territory would never be his so long as they existed.
...
Rolland sat in his office, feeling ironically much the same as Plinli. The difference was that he had lost much more than plinli had by the point he realized that he was being painted into a corner.
The price of controlling demon villages wasn't low, and it was also impossible to capture powerful demon villages so easily. The only way to mitigate the hardship was by targeting new demon villages and then investing in their growth.
These demon villages had Level 30s at their helm. The highest Level human right this moment was only Level 28. One could imagine how valuable they were now, but he had lost three in quick succession. And he didn't even deal a blow to his enemies.
Now, he had been sanctioned by the system and couldn't make another move even if he wanted to.
The worst part was that this sanction also targeted the demon villages that were under his control. Not only would this expose his cards to his enemies, but if they took advantage of these three days properly, he would suffer a setback that couldn't be reversed.
His gaze flickered. It seemed that he might have to rely on the other System Cities to do this. There were two others in this territory, and until now, they had been less involved in the Multi Quest than usual. But... it should be possible to pull some strings and...
Rolland suddenly got a notification that made him stand to his feet fiercely.
...
Sylas stood in front of the mission hub, indifferently handing over his missions.
This time, he didn't use a misdirection because he knew that Rolland wouldn't have enough time to act even if he wanted to and... because he knew that it would come in handy right here and now.
[Pig Demon Village 122]
[Reward: 135,200 Hero Points]

[Gnoll Village 297]
[Reward: 134,100 Hero Points]
[Wolfman Village 011]
[Reward: 145,000 Hero Points]
Suddenly, he had over 500,000 Hero Points on hand.
[Trade Hub]
...
[>Marquess Promotion - 500,000 Hero Points]
[>Duke Promotion - 1,000,000 Hero Points]
It wasn't enough.
From what he understood, becoming a Duke of a City would give him the right to buy Duke- Graded land. In a lot of ways, this would be like having a city within a city.
He was less interested in the Dukedom, though, and far more interested in the Nexus he would gain access to as a result. This Nexus would only be a single step weaker than the Nexus a City Lord would have access to.
Until now, the best Nexus he had ever accessed was a Bronze one from a reward. Other than that, it was just the Common Nexus from Casstle Main.
However, the Duke of a System City should have unlimited access to a Bronze Nexus. Although this Nexus wouldn't upgrade to Silver, it would progress with the Level cap of the System City and thus always remain relevant so long as Earth continued to improve.
It had to be remembered that the strength of a System City was decided by the best warriors of Earth. The City Lord would be capped at 10 levels above the highest level on the Summoned World, and their 10 Generals would be 2 levels beneath them.
Of course, this didn't include any additional stat boosts they'd receive from armor and Title
boosts.
Unfortunately, all the hoping in the world wouldn't change the fact he was still short. He was also pretty sure that these were discounted prices thanks to his Merits.
In that case, what he would have to do would definitely be more complicated.
The ideal scenario would be to become the City Lord of this System City. Not only would he gain all the wealth that came with it, but he would erase an enemy for him.
Unfortunately, things were too complicated.
The second-best path, then, was to find a way to handicap them so that they couldn't
interfere even if they wanted to.
Sylas' mind churned with a wild array of thoughts.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
If it was just as easy as gathering more Hero Points, he would do that. But there simply wasn't
enough time.
He didn't have the strength yet to clear villages headed by Level 30s on his own; that would be suicide. And the other missions gave too little return for him to clear enough of them within
three days.
He would have to make an opportunity for himself.
His eyes flashed as he had an idea.
...
Nosphaleen looked at her screen, her lip twitching.

Shaking her head, she entered the den of Nobles and took out an item.
