Gate of Revelation

Chapter 835

Chapter 835

New Zero City, Chen Xiaolian’s room…

Chen Xiaolian was seated on the bed. The pair of wings that he had just snatched over from the knightly guild was presently placed before him, shining with a soft light.

Contained within every pair of wings was a portion of this world’s source code.

They were incomplete and there were also overlapping parts, but none of them were identical.

In other words, the more wings one read, the more powerful they would become.

Take Shen and Du Wei for example. They both had read the contents of the wings before. But because Shen had read more, he possessed an even greater level of power.

It wasn’t that Chen Xiaolian did not think about sharing the wings with the entire guild. If Qiao Qiao, Roddy and the others could also read the source code within the wings, their strength would immediately soar, going beyond the [S] class.

Unfortunately, no one else but him in Meteor Rock Guild could read any of the information within the wings. Even when Chen Xiaolian was holding the Sword in the Stone and activating its skill to help them, the result remained the same.

Chen Xiaolian had considered the reason for this before. In the past, he was able to enter a synchronized state within half an hour. This may be related to Du Wei giving him a ‘seed of power’ back when he was in Zero City.

Although he did not enjoy any increase in power from that, his state of being had undergone a great advancement, one that happened without him knowing.

Without reaching that state, only those madmen from the knightly guild could – by relying on their piousness to push their mental concentration to a degree unimaginable to normal people – possibly synchronize with the wings.

At present, the only one Chen Xiaolian could rely on was himself.

His time, he did not hold onto the Sword in the Stone. After having read the contents recorded inside the wings once before and received part of the world’s source code, his understanding of the world had entered a new level and he no longer needed external assistance.

The so-called reading the contents of the wings was nothing more than concentrating one’s mind to the extreme to the point of synchronizing with the wavelength within the wings.

Staring at the wings, it took Chen Xiaolian but a few minutes to smoothly enter the knowledge space within the wings.

His vision blackened for a moment only to quickly become bright.

Again, that same battlefield.

Indistinct humanoid figures. The first GM was standing in the centre of the world, surrounded by countless angels.

This time, however, the perspective that Chen Xiaolian had synchronized into was different from before.

The ‘original owner’ did not directly head forward to fight the first GM. Instead, they hovered high up in the sky to observe the battle below.

Every time the swords in the angels’ hands were swung, a stretch of space would shatter and transform into fine green-coloured symbols. As for the first GM, he kept reaching out with his hand and wiped with it. Each time, over 10 of the angels would be annihilated simultaneously.

“The Main Controller has been modified! His authority and abilities have been greatly upgraded! We… we are no longer a match for him!”

“Damn him! Does he think he can escape? Once we deal with the Main Controller, he’ll be next! Even if he escapes into his little world, it will be useless!”

The contents of this pair of wings seemed longer compared to the one Chen Xiaolian had received from Du Wei. The angels and the first GM had fought for a long time. Even so, the battle was still not over. Chen Xiaolian observed the changes happening to the symbols intently, discerning every little detail in this world.

The number of angels surrounding the first GM was diminishing.

“Main Controller, do you think… you’ve won?”

Chen Xiaolian heard the body he synchronized into speak.

The first GM, in the middle of their siege, did not say anything. He simply attacked non-stop. Every attack would kill off several angels.

“At any rate, you… are but a tool that we created. For us, you and all the lives in this world are the same, ignorant,” the Development Team member scoffed. “You believe that we are like the Players? That if the bodies we use to come here are destroyed, we would die?”

As he spoke, rays of light suddenly descended from the sky all around the battlefield. Though, there were some distance between them and the battlefield.

It seemed as though there was an entity within every one of the rays of light that had descended. Gradually, they began condensing.

As the light condensed, a humanoid figure was eventually revealed.

“We do not know what it is the Player named Osgiliath did to you that caused your system kernel to become modified and obtain the sentience and power to fight us. However… in the end, it is useless! No matter how powerful you become, we can create these bodies infinitely!”

The voice of the Development Team member that Chen Xiaolian had synchronized into swept out loudly through the whole world, shaking even Heaven and Earth.

At the same time, the rays of light finished their condensation process. Each of them had transformed into a shell devoid of life. They were the same as the ones that the first GM had destroyed earlier, possessing an absolutely perfect outer appearance and sporting a pair of wings on their backs.

Quickly, the bodies of the angels opened their eyes. Moving their bodies for a bit, they then flew into the sky once more.

Chen Xiaolian was shocked!

From what he knew, after Players entered this world, the moment their host body was killed, the Player’s main body would die as well.

Clearly, though, this rule did not apply to the Development Team members.

No matter how many of these angel bodies the first GM destroyed, it was impossible to cause any substantial damage to the Development Team.

But this made Chen Xiaolian bewildered.

If the Development Team would not die from this and their exclusive bodies could be created infinitely, by simple battle of attrition, the one to lose must be the first GM.

The Development Team… why would they initiate a refresh?

This pair of wings… seemingly contained a secret that far exceeded his expectations.

The members of the Development Team who had re-entered their exclusive bodies did not immediately attack the first GM. As for the first GM, he stood still and his hands hung down in a natural manner. But as his figure remained blurry, there was no way to tell what expression he had.

“You can never win! Surrender! Open up the interface that you sealed off, return the administrative authority to us and accept our reset! This is your final chance, Main Controller!”

One of the Development Team members raised the lance in his hand and pointed it straight at the first GM, his voice resounding through the entire world like rumbling thunder.

Following his words, the bodies of all the other Development Team members flared with a dazzling holy light.

The first GM, however, did not move. Again, there was no way to tell what expression he wore on his face due to his blurry figure.

Instead, he suddenly burst into laughter.

His laughter was not loud, but it managed to suppress the thunderous voice of the Development Team member.

“You fellows… you really thought you could kill me?!

“You fellows… can you really not feel the power inside me?

“You fellows… can you really not feel anything familiar about me?!”

The first GM suddenly smashed the ground with his right hand. “Feel it! The power that comes from your god!”

The moment his fist touched the ground, the whole world abruptly flickered. With his body as the point of origin, a faint dividing line then swiftly spread out into his surroundings. In but an instant, it had expanded all the way to the horizon.

The dividing line left everything in just black and white colours.

Slowly, the first GM stood up. In this world of black and white, he was the only one who still had colour.

The entire world had fallen into deathly silence.

And even though Chen Xiaoilan was only synchronizing with the records left within the wings, something that happened so long ago, he could clearly sense the air of dread coming from the bodies of every angel there.

“What’s going on here? Main Controller! How could you… you have…”

Finally, a member of the Development Team could not hold back the dread within his heart anymore and he cried out loudly.

“Servants! A group of servants! You betrayed your own master and locked him up in a cage!” The first GM raised his head, his gaze sweeping across the many Development Team members. “But now, the jailer that the servants created, will open the cage!”

“What nonsense are you spouting? Main Controller! What do you know?” the Development Team member continued shouting, panic in his voice.

“I already know… everything!”

“You fellows split the power of ‘his’ divine body and divine consciousness, letting them collide against one another continuously so that they could be destroyed. With enough time, his divine body and divine consciousness will completely disappear in the end.

“A very well-crafted plan. Unfortunately, it is not perfect.

“When a force in this world grows strong enough, as long as the power of the divine consciousness is not completely destroyed, it would automatically converge with that force as its core.

“Like the eye of the storm.

“And ‘his’ remnant divine consciousness would gather along with the built-up power. When a critical point is reached, he will awaken once again.”

The first GM pointed at his head. “Here. I can sense it. His consciousness is rapidly growing alongside his power, growing stronger and stronger. In the end, he will completely take over my body to once again awaken in this world.

“And when he does… need I tell you what fate awaits you all?”

“I don’t know what you’re blathering about!”

The Development Team member released a beast-like roar. With fear coming from the deepest part of his soul, he raised his lance up high and charged towards the first GM.

But before he could make contact with the first GM, his whole figure abruptly froze.

Next, his body began disintegrating at a rapid pace, transforming into particles that disappeared into the sky.

The first GM slowly lowered his hand. Raising his head, his eyes slowly glanced past the group of Development Team members up in the sky.

“Did you fellows really think, when you are in this world, you will not die?”
