Chapter 320: The Inevitable

Chapter 320: The Inevitable

Butcherer continued to slash his knife without minding at all about the strategic value of the Holy Ground. He was the most simple-minded of the Four Generals, so Zeus sent him to guard the Western server, but not having the best wits didnt mean he was weak. In fact, he was the best fighter among the fourhe was the strongest because he was the most simple-minded.

Even the Three Kings dared not to take on his slashes lightly, which made him want to test this masked man even more.

The distance between them was merely three metres. Spears could be as short as one metre or up to eight metres in length, though Shooting Star was two metres long, which meant Drako Yau could now reach Butcherer with a thrust.

So he did.

His spear whizzed forwards, shrouded in flames yet covered by a layer of frost. This was the thrust he had done so countless times. Even though he supplemented it with Frozen Strike, the thrust itself was the main attack. He was just like Butchererhis spearmanship had been honed through endless training, and every move had been drilled into his brain and muscles. Using Frozen Strike along with the thrust was merely a byproduct of his spearmanship.

Finally something different.

Butcherer squinted his eyes. His plump body was rather agile; his slashes were always vertically from top to bottom simply because that was the best angle to sever a bone, but he quickly twisted his body in response to the incoming spear, turning it into a slanted slash.

The diagonal chi blast was both offensive and defensive at the same time. By sealing off the openings before him, it would force Drako Yau into a direct clash if his spear continued forwardsand that was exactly what he wanted. From the very start, Butcherers actions had been simple, yet they were extremely efficient.

A direct clash was undesirable for Drako Yau, so he could only switch up his attack immediately. His spearmanship was a versatile style that adopted techniques from all sorts of styles anyways, and switching things up was exactly its strength. Before he followed through with the thrust, he stomped his left foot into the ground, sending a shock through the dark platform. He mustered the strength to turn his waist and forcefully turned his thrust sideways.

Their moves were very similar in a sense. They both had perfect control over their bodies to make the impossible possible. Such movements would place a heavy burden on the body in the actual world, but this was a game.

Along with the twist of his waist, Drako Yaus thrust turned into a slash.

Butcherer remained unfazed, for he had already planned out a counter. His legs moved along his body in a 180-degree spin as the slanting slash travelled downwards.

He was Butcherer, a butcher in the actual world and also a chef in Real World as a subclass, so he had to butcher animals in both worlds. There was a time when he was chopping up a pigs thigh when a cow behind him made its final lunge. The chop that was meant for the pig was redirected to the cows head with a spin of his body, slicing it off cleanly. Now, his target was the masked face instead of the cow, though both werent very different to him.

Less than two seconds had passed since their melee began. No matter how overpowered Drako Yau was, there was simply no way for him to change his slash into something else.

A rare flash of rage erupted in Drako Yaus eyes; even he got emotional at this point in the fight. Even though it was intentional, he was at a disadvantage from the start. He despised the fact that Butcherer was sent to test him, thus he refused to be tested. If the blonde young man was already his nemesis, then why did he have to send someone to test him out?

Fight me in person if you truly see me as your nemesis.

Regardless of all that, Butcherers strength was undeniable given he was ranked fourth on the Western server. Unlike the East where players hid their strengths, those from the West had no reason to do so and could shine as bright as they could. Being recognised as the fourth-strongest fighter in such an environment was good proof of his strength.

The shadow who followed Zeus insisted on sending Butcherer for a reasonButcherer was strong and fought openly without any tricks. He was the best candidate to test someone out precisely because of his combat style. His chi blasts were like the blazing sun, revealing all shadows that attempt to hide from it.

Drako Yaus only option was to take the slash head-on.

If a direct clash is what you want, so be it!

Drako Yau had made up his mind already.

Shocking changes were underway within Drako Yaus body. Ever since the Cryoflame style took shape in him, the yin-yang symbol had been constantly spinning, as if it was a world where the sun and moon rose in cycles. It was the core of its world, like the human heart, which didnt require active commands to function.

Yet now, the yin-yang symbol ceased spinningwhat would happen to a person if his or her heart stopped beating?

Cryoflame was fundamentally a dangerous style, which was why Ichor Hon, Chris, Fatty, Oda Nobunaga, and the others were so worried about him. Fire and water were incompatible, and the forces of ice and fire were intrinsically opposing. Upon noticing that they were both derived from him in nature, Drako Yau managed to salvage them into wieldable forces by circulating them through the yin-yang symbol.

However, when the yin-yang symbol no longer functioned, the opposing forces would regain their hostility.

And that was exactly what Drako Yau wanted.

He wasnt like Tigeroar who could learn from his ancestors, nor was he like Bloodless Bladester who could inherit complete styles. His Cryoflame was entirely unique and new without any references available. Back when his powers activated for the first time, it was his desire to survive that had awakened the two forces to protect their owner.

Through various battles and incidents, he came to comprehend his forces and gradually gained proficiency in wielding them. However, his usage of Cryoflame was limited to the most basic formenhancement of his body.

He tried to materialise his forces, but that only covered his limbs in flames and granted them the flaming attribute. Such a half-arsed method couldnt strengthen him, so he decided to focus on enhancement, the form he was most accustomed to and had wielded for as long as the Cryoflame style existed.

Frost Form, Flame Form, as well as Flame Form phase two; all these enhancements were lacking compared to his first unintentional use of the two forces.

So he went through experiments, ones that were painful. Thankfully, he had inhuman regenerative powers because it was a game.

After countless trials, he finally figured it outthe opposing nature of ice and fire was the key to breaking through.

The forces were tamed after circulating through the yin-yang symbol and were completely under his control. It was this tameness that robbed them of their explosiveness.
