Chapter 147: The Beginning of the Cataclysm Pt. 3
Chapter 147: The Beginning of the Cataclysm Pt. 3
A familiar voice sounded out. Lee Jun-Kyeong looked over to see who was the owner of the voice in the midst of the raging flames.
It was a mana that he hadn’t been able to sense on the way here.
‘Wait, over there.’
“Mr. Lee!”
Jeong In-Chang, who was calling for Lee Jun-Kyeong again, stood.
He looked horrid, with burn marks all over his body, and scratches all over his greatsword.
“Goongje…”
He held a wounded princess in his arms.
“What the…”
Lee Jun-Kyeong was about to ask what the hell had happened for Jeong In-Chang to look that way when the sight of people standing behind Jeong In-Chang soon caught his eye.
“...”
Some were trembling uneasily behind the Hunter, while some were staring back at him with a firm gaze. It was the survivors and the White Tiger Clan.
“If I had known this would happen…we were just trying to gather here to come to see you…” Jeong In-Chang said while rubbing his nose as he looked over at Lee Jun-Kyeong.
Lee Jun-Kyeong could feel the rage that was about to burst out slowly begin to cool down.
“Well, here’s your welcome party,” Jeong In-Chang said.
Won-Hwa, Fenrir, and Hyeon-Mu weren’t with them, it just seemed as though the White Tiger Clan was all that was in front of him, but it seemed as though they were only a part of who was supposed to have gathered.
“I was trying to prepare a surprise welcome…but we’re the ones who were surprised,” Jeong In-Chang continued as he looked at himself and the White Tiger Clan.
Lee Jun-Kyeong nodded with a slightly relieved expression.
Squelch.
The thorns protruding from Muspel’s Spear were wrapped around Lee Jun-Kyeong’s arm.
Step.
He turned his back to the group and still waiting in his sight was the man in black, standing in the far distance.
Moreover, the man in black was standing under the guard of the incited drakes.
“Thank you all for coming out for the welcome party, but please go back first,” he said as he stood with his back to them.
“Mr. Lee!” Jeong In-Chang shouted again at Lee Jun-Kyeong.
“Most of the survivors have been saved! Just please return with us,” he said, his voice seeming desperate from behind Lee Jun-Kyeong’s back.
He must have noticed the man in black as well and was speaking as if he had realized how dangerous the man in black was.
“Now that you’ve finally returned…it’s better if we go back together…”
“Mr. Jeong.” Lee Jun-Kyeong looked over at Jeong In-Chang and said, “I understand.”
Lee Jun-Kyeong’s expression was incredibly determined, and somewhere along the line, Lee Jun-Kyeong’s eyes had been slowly getting overtaken by Madness.
“I’ll open a path. If you go forward, you’ll end up running into Seong-Gu Hyung. It should be fine for you to join together with him.”
Step.
Lee Jun-Kyeong spoke one last time to Jeong In-Chang and took a step forward.
Roar!
“Ahhh!”
As soon as he stepped forward, several survivors shouted in surprise.
The flames that had been blocking their path had been split open, revealing an opening. Moreover, the flames that had tormented them with their heat no longer caused them any pain.
The path had been opened.
“Don’t make me wait for you for too long,” Jeong In-Chang said as he turned around with the White Tiger Clan and the survivors.
The two had turned their backs on each other.
Step.
Going separate ways.
As Jeong In-Chang walked through the flames, the blaze moved again to close the path.
Flicker!
Finally, it was just Lee Jun-Kyeong and the man in black left.
Boom!
Lee Jun-Kyeong dashed toward the man who was still staring down at him.
***
“Please hurry!”
Jeong In-Chang moved forward while supporting the survivors.
Even after breaking off from Lee Jun-Kyeong, the flames didn’t touch them.
Jeong In-Chang thought that it really was a great ability, the power to command such terrifying flames that were occupying such a large area.
With Lee Jun-Kyeong’s help, their difficult escape had become much easier.
“There’s a drake ahead!” one of the White Tiger Clan members shouted as they ran forward.
“Don’t!” Jeong In-Chang quickly shouted, but the White Tiger Clan had already met with the monster.
One of the members of the White Tiger Clan, a man who had been a resident of Heaven Lake Village that had come to Korea, swung a sword and attacked the drake’s head.
However.
Clang!
All they heard was the loud sound of iron clashing.
“Argh!”
A scream pierced through the air.
The White Tiger Clam member, who had apprehensively attacked the drake’s head, was rolling on the ground while holding his arms.
He was the one who had run forward despite Jeong In-Chang’s words.
However, Jeong In-Chang wasn’t angry.
Step.
He took a step forward toward the fallen man.
“You can’t!” the White Tiger Clan members shouted.
The reason why the White Tiger Clan member had attacked the drake even though he knew he wasn’t the monster’s opponent just now was simple.
Drip.
Blood flowed down Jeong In-Chang’s right arm.
Drip. Drop.
The monsters here weren’t just any regular monsters.
They were high-grade monsters. Moreover, they had been strengthened. They were too much for the White Tiger Clan to deal with without Ungnyeo by their side.
Therefore, Jeong In-Chang and the princess had to step up and save the people, protecting the White Tiger Clan.
However, every time he interfered, he received another critical injury. Therefore, Jeong In-Chang’s physical condition at this moment was not good.
“We’ll handle it,” the members of the White Tiger Clan said, stepping forward to surround Jeong In-Chang and the survivors.
As they had only been helped, they no longer wanted to see Jeong In-Chang get hurt for their sake.
“It’s all ri…”
Jeong In-Chang was about to say that it was okay, but then his body suddenly shook for a moment.
'I've lost too much blood.’
He knew that he was in a dangerous condition as well.
Nevertheless, there was always work to be gone.
Clench.
“Goong…”
The princess stepped out of Jeong In-Chang’s arms and stood on her two feet.
“I’ll leave it to you, princess.”
“Goongje.”
The princess enlarged her body, returning to her large combat state.
The princess’ condition also seemed serious. When they saw that she wanted to get involved, the White Tiger Clan members refused to move aside with stiff expressions.
They knew although they wouldn’t be of much help in this fight, they still had to help deal with the drake somehow.
“S…save us…”
“Please…”
The Hunters stood in front of the frightened survivors, who were crying out to protect them. Some of the men and women who had something to protect tried to step forward, but soon backed down again, seeing the White Tiger Clan members.
They wanted to be of any amount of aid, but the enemies the group was facing were too strong for that. They were ordinary people with no power.
Although this was a perfect situation where a Hunter could be born, that wouldn’t have helped either.
“Then…I’ll leave it to you all,” Jeong In-Chang said, acknowledging his condition.
He chose to fight alongside the White Tiger Clan.
“Thank you.”
Alongside those that were providing him assistance but were grateful to be allowed to do so, Jeong In-Chang ran forward while dragging his sword.
.
“Ha-a-eup!”
He was getting stronger.
He had gotten stronger.
While he wasn’t as strong as Lee Jun-Kyeong, he had still become strong.
[<The Prince on a White Horse> offers to you…]
[<Ogre Prince Seigfried> sponsors you.]
Justice.
<The Prince on a White Horse> would come out again whenever there was justice to be found.
Shhhh.
The greatsword began to shine with light.
“Ha-a-eup!”
Jeong In-Chang kicked off the ground and shot toward the drake.
Bang!
There was an explosive-like sound.
However, that wasn’t from where they were.
“Mr. Lee…?”
It came from where they had come from. There was a huge clash of mana there.
Squelch.
Then, a sound that no one could have expected reverberated through the air.
The drake, which they hadn’t been able to attack because of the explosion, seemed to split in half, its head falling off of its body.
It was an impressively neat workmanship, but the afterimage of the blow seemed completely out of place in their surroundings.
“A rainbow…?”
Traces of rainbow were left behind from the blow. However, Jeong In-Chang was able to extrapolate who the person was on the other side from the traces.
“Mr. Yeo!”
Yeo Seong-Gu was standing on the drake’s severed torso, looking at Jeong In-Chang.
"I'm here to help."
***
Bang!
There was a violent explosion.
The aftermath of the explosion was powerful enough to swallow everything in its vicinity, including the drakes surrounding it.
Boom!
Moreover, it even destroyed some of the remnants of the international airport that were on the verge of collapse.
The center of the explosion was where two spear tips met.
“...!”
Lee Jun-Kyeong had quickly headed toward the man in black and exploded with incredible power. The drakes hadn’t been able to even approach. As Lee Jun-Kyeong reached in front of the man in black, he pierced forward with Muspel’s Spear.
However, against the tip of his spear, a spear that was winding itself around his arm and devouring mana and flames with no end, was the point of another spear.
“...”
It was the man in black, a figure that wore a black robe and whose face was hidden in the shadows.
Even though he was lit up by the glow of the flames, the black robes still covered the man’s face, as if it was an item with concealment properties.
However, Lee Jun-Kyeong didn’t have any time to worry about that.
“A spear…”
The spear that he had thrust forward was blocked by another spear.
The man in black also wielded a spear.
Swish!
In a relaxed manner, the man in black pulled back his spear and swung it around, settling into a stance.
“...”
Lee Jun-Kyeong couldn’t get his mind in order at the sight as the rising ominousness and anxiety turned his body to stone.
However, that was only for a moment.
Swoosh!
Muspel’s Spear took control of Lee Jun-Kyeong’s arm and reversed the aura of the Dragon’s Bloodstone. At the same time, the arm moved forward on its own.
Shing!
His arm had previously been frozen stiff and unable to move, but now it reacted on its own, blocking the spear wielded by the man in black.
A huge force transferred from the blocked spear.
It was a strength beyond humans, beyond Hunters, beyond giants.
Tremble.
His arm was being powered by Galdr, the mana stream, and even the power of a weak dragon heart, but it trembled as it was pushed back.
Clang!
In the end, Muspel’s Spear was blown away, flying through the air with Lee Jun-Kyeong in tow.
“...”
The man in black just silently looked down at him with his mouth closed.
Lee Jun-Kyeong steadied himself and stood up again.
Muspel’s Spear, spewing a devilish aura, had helped him of its own accord.
“Thank you,” Lee Jun-Kyeong said quietly as he gained control of himself again.
It wasn’t that his mind had cleared up. It was just that an answer to his questions wouldn’t be found like this.
Thus.
Boom!
He would go get one himself.
Red flames shimmered behind his back.
The flames that filled the international airport were being absorbed into his body even at this very moment.
In the presence of fire, he was king.
Lee Jun-Kyeong’s spear ripped through space as it pierced forward. The intense head would turn everything into ashes.
Muspel’s Spear had become a sun as it tore forward at the man in black.
TSSSS!
Even though the spear was only just approaching the man, his black robe was beginning to tear at the edges as if it was being split apart.
The spear was completely infused with heat and Madness and clashed with the spear of the man in black once again.
BOOM!
