Chapter 22
Chapter 22
“Brother, thank you for just now!” When he entered the dormitory, Wang Ye was patted on the shoulder. It was Wan Baojiang who had also done 300 push-ups.
In fact, this guy was very tough today, even though he seemed to have been punished badly.
But in fact, the others had also made 200.
Well… Most of the people in Class Five had only done 150.
Reflecting on this disaster, it seemed that Class Five had benefited from it. Wang Ye turned around and smiled, “You’re already calling me brother, so what’s this?!”
Wang Ye’s response left Wan Baojiang stunned momentarily, but he soon recovered and replied, “Alright, we’re brothers now. If there’s anything you need in the future, just let me know. Let’s not talk about anything else. If someone bullies you, I’ll definitely help you!” He extended a fist in a show of camaraderie.
Wang Ye didn’t hesitate to reciprocate his new brother’s fist bump. “Haha! Thanks!” he said, believing in his brother’s character, which he had already observed. Although a little straightforward and stubborn, he was the kind of person who kept his word.
As Deng Hai entered the dormitory, Wang Ye and Wan Baojiang greeted him warmly.
Deng Hai seemed a little embarrassed and apologized to everyone. But Wang Ye quickly reassured him, “No need to apologize, we should be thanking you. As you can see, we only managed to do 150 push-ups, while the other classes did 200!”
Gu Yingnan chimed in with a bitter smile, “That’s right! We all know that you were just unlucky to be targeted. You weren’t deliberately trying to mess with us today!”
Wang Ye nodded in agreement, grateful to have such understanding classmates.
As they walked towards their beds, one of the classmates couldn’t help but curse, “Fuck, if we had to do a couple dozen more, I doubt I could even get into bed now!” He climbed into bed, ready to go back to sleep, even though he wasn’t even sleepy. However, it was still dark outside, and it wasn’t even five o’clock yet.
Wang Ye suggested, “Hey, why doesn’t everyone sit down first? The class monitor hasn’t come up yet, so let’s not go to bed yet.”
He felt that the day was not over yet. Although they had been through a lot, Ye Sanshi had not arrived yet. If he came later and saw that everyone had already laid down without waiting for him, it could cause even more trouble.
Wang Ye didn’t want any more punishments.
Since the mission had been accomplished, there was no need to continue showing off. It was better to be comfortable for the time being.
“Yes, you’re right. Let’s sit on the lower bunk first. When the class monitor arrives, we’ll stand up immediately!” Wang Ye’s reminder startled everyone, and they quickly complied.
In truth, everyone held a grudge against Ye Sanshi at this point. However, they were afraid that Ye Sanshi might show up at any moment. If he overheard them complaining, it would be disastrous.
Thus, everyone had to suppress their resentment.
“EVERYONE GO TO YOUR DORMITORIES AND STAY THERE!” The veteran squad leader’s roar came from outside at that moment.
Downstairs, a group of veteran squad leaders stood together, with the exception of two who had not yet returned from the search with the instructor.
“Looking at this group of rookies, it makes me nostalgic. I feel like I’m seeing myself from the year before last!” remarked one of the veterans.
“Kid, you were tough to deal with back then. I remember being the one who caught you!” another chimed in.
The veterans were from different years. The youngest among them was a first-class soldier who had served last year. The oldest had four periods of non-commissioned officers.
“Alright, let’s not linger here. It’s almost time. I’ll turn on the lights. Let’s go up!” said the squad leader, urging them to move on.
Meanwhile, one of the seasoned soldiers was leading a group of recruits toward the field. He had only arrived yesterday and didn’t even know where the field was, so he had to show them the way. The other two had gone with the instructor to chase after Zhang Han.
The rest of the veterans had deliberately stayed downstairs for a while, creating the opportunity for them to go up and throw their weight around again.
This had already become a routine, and it was a training plan that had been formulated long ago. The new recruits showing their might was not a one-time event; they would be subjected to a taming process over the next three months.
Soon, a group of veterans went upstairs together. Not long after, reprimanding voices could be heard coming from the different dormitories.
“What are you doing? Who told you to lie on the bed?”
“Did I say you could sleep? Get down here.”
…..
The noise from outside could be heard faintly in Class 5’s dormitory. The other recruits couldn’t help but look at Wang Ye. If Ye Sanshi wasn’t present, they would have thanked him. If it weren’t for Wang Ye’s reminder earlier, they would be facing Ye Sanshi’s scolding like the other classes.
“Mm, not bad. You knew to wait for me!” Ye Sanshi was a little surprised.
In fact, Ye Sanshi had already prepared words and scenes in his mind for the recruits’ misbehavior.
Unfortunately for him, he didn’t get the chance to use them. As soon as they entered, all ten recruits stood up properly. How could he still fly into a rage in this situation?
He might as well get straight to the point. “Alright, come over here. I’ll teach you how to fold the blankets.”
Sleep was out of the question, even though it was not yet 5 in the morning. Since they were already up, they couldn’t let everyone continue lying down. The recruits entered their first lesson of the day.
Wang Ye had learned about this before they left the dormitory. As they made their way through the lesson, a group of recruits quickly surrounded him. Ye Sanshi didn’t say much, but he demonstrated how to properly fold a blanket on his own bed.
“Watch carefully. I’ll only show you once,” Ye Sanshi said as he began folding the blanket. He first adjusted the blanket and pressed it flat with his hands. His movements were slow, and he spoke as he worked.
Edited:
“To fold a blanket properly, you must first force out the air inside and tidy up the corners, so that the entire blanket is completely flat without any wrinkles. Then, fold along the seams,” Ye Sanshi explained in detail. He folded the blanket slowly so that everyone could see it clearly.
In just over a minute, the blanket was folded into a square, resembling a piece of tofu. But Ye Sanshi’s job wasn’t finished yet. He used his hands to smooth out any wrinkles and a card to trim the corners of the blanket.
“Clear?” he exclaimed.
“Yes, yes,” the recruits responded in unison.
“Class monitor, you’re amazing. This is the most beautiful quilt I’ve ever seen in my life,” one recruit praised.
“Indeed, it’s like a piece of art. If my blanket was like this, I wouldn’t have the heart to cover it!” another added.
Despite their lingering resentment towards Ye Sanshi, everyone couldn’t help but praise his work. The folded blanket was impressive – squarish, with sharp edges and corners, like a brick.
Wang Ye was a little absent-minded and didn’t join in the praise. The moment Ye Sanshi finished folding the blanket, a message appeared in Wang Ye’s mind. “The host has received a veteran’s teaching on how to fold a quilt. Experience points +5. The host’s quilt folding skill level has increased by one.”
In an instant, Wang Ye gained a better understanding of how to fold a military blanket, as some of the experience had fused into his mind.
