Floating Island - Triple S Talent

Chapter 36: Encountering the Torvu Race

"Mr. Haikal, you seem more energetic after getting promoted," said a man with a large hammer from the side.

"Hahaha... Of course. When else can you feel such power at my age?" Old Man Haikal laughed heartily. But suddenly, his pupils shrank. A large claw appeared in his vision with terrifying power.

"A silent attacker?" whispered Old Man Haikal. His body was suddenly engulfed in black flames. No, more accurately, his body turned into black flames. The red bear claw struck empty air. Old Man Haikal reappeared a considerable distance away.

"Seems like bear meat is good for bone health. How about I roast some?" Old Man Haikal said casually. The silver-haired woman was shocked but quickly resumed attacking with her beasts, not giving him time to cast his spells.

"Troublesome," muttered Old Man Haikal. He quickly chanted some spells, and the surrounding environment turned pitch black.

"Retreat, move back within a one-kilometer radius," Old Man Haikal ordered the others. The silver-haired woman couldn't see anything but didn't panic. She raised her right hand, and a hologram of a bat monster appeared.

A large bat with a wingspan of 10 meters appeared. The woman jumped onto it and also summoned an owl-shaped monster. She wasn't foolish enough to summon beasts that had no advantage in the dark night.

"Troublesome," said Old Man Haikal, seeing the numerous monsters the woman summoned. His body turned into flames again and swiftly moved towards the silver-haired woman. Black flames spread in all directions, filling the area where the woman was.

Their battle continued with no one knowing who would win.

Meanwhile, Laras's team was in a very different situation. A large cross, 100 meters tall, stood upright on the ground, emitting an aura of light that enveloped the area within a one-kilometer radius. Whenever a team member was severely injured, their wounds quickly healed.

A woman with two orbs of light in her hands became the center of attention. A 20-meter-tall elephant was constantly being attacked by the woman with her light orbs. Yes, the woman was Laras. She became the star of the battle in that area.

"Look, since when did our Fortress #41 get assistance from the center? Didn't they say there would be no help for three hours?" said a Faithwarden soldier.

"Yeah, I also heard they are Players," responded another soldier. "Even though they are usually very annoying, remember... we are at war with the Crev race right now."

The Faithwarden soldiers' conversation was audible around. Initially, they thought Laras was a Faithwarden because of her cross weapon and terrifying light powers. But when their lives were at stake, they suppressed their dislike.

"Sister Laras is very strong," said Dion from a distance, admiring Laras's new power, now at Tier-2.

"Yes, if you think about it, isn't the alliance leader even scarier?" said Old Man Takulani from the side.

Hearing that, Dion swallowed hard. "How did the alliance leader get so many Silver Badges, even before one day after the event appeared?" he wondered. If Lein bought using contribution points, he would be the number one Player on the leaderboard. But in reality, Lein wasn't even in the top 20.

Filled with strong curiosity, Dion could only wait and continue fighting the enemies that came.

A ship pierced through small clouds in the void. On the ship, four people were casually discussing. They were Lein, Nita, and the couple Gray and Elaine. They had been flying for four hours without finding any Torvu race enemies.

With nothing else to do, they could only chat and play some games. Lein and Gray were currently playing chess with 144 squares, similar to chess on Earth, but with more pieces. Meanwhile, Nita and Elaine sat at the front of the ship, chatting warmly.

"You know, I was never allowed to go far without my father's supervision every day," Elaine said with a sad tone. "Even to play with my peers, I always had to be accompanied by a guard."

Elaine was the only child of a mayor. As an only child and a girl, she received very high and classy care. However, behind that care, her childhood freedom was very limited. Not a day without supervision, she only had time to herself when she slept.

Nita felt moved hearing this. She remembered the difficult times living with her brother Lein. Hearing Elaine's story, Nita felt even more grateful for her life. They continued their light conversation, while Lein and Gray continued playing chess.

Suddenly, the silence was broken by the sound of a magic projectile speeding through the void, surrounded by small lightning bolts. Gray, who was previously relaxed, stood up quickly, staring in the direction the projectile came from.

"Sorry, Mr. Lein, wait for my turn for a moment," Gray said seriously.

He approached the ship and stood still. The projectile arrived at high speed and nearly hit their ship. But Gray was ready with his hands raised, creating a 10-meter-high portal.

Silence...

It was as if nothing happened, Lein and Nita watched in amazement.

"Teleportation power?" Lein thought to himself.

"Amazing... Brother Gray is very strong," praised Nita.

Gray just smiled thinly hearing the praise. He knew that Lein and Nita's strength was not inferior to his.

In the distance, a man with a face full of beast tattoos cursed angrily.

"Damn... Our hideout is exposed..." he said. The man had been hiding in the area for three months, but finally, his hideout was exposed due to his own failure. "Let's attack those bastards..."

He ordered nine other ship captains. The long-idle ship engines roared back to life. The ships started moving, slowly heading towards where Lein and the others were.

"Prepare... They will arrive in three minutes," Elaine warned.

"Why should we wait? We also need to prepare," said Lein while taking out several large objects from his bag.

The items he took out were large black cannons, one meter long, with golden-coated muzzles.

"What are those, Brother Lein?" asked Gray curiously.

"Nothing, just some small toys," Lein replied with a smile.

Seeing Lein didn't intend to explain further, Gray turned to Nita hoping for an explanation.

"Those are cannons usually used for island defense, Brother Gray," Nita explained briefly.

"I know, but how do you have so many?" Gray was surprised to see more than 20 cannons had been taken out. He knew those cannons were very expensive, not to mention the operational costs that required a large amount of energy crystals. However, he suppressed his curiosity and helped Lein set up the golden cannons.

Nita and Elaine also helped mount the cannons on the ship's walls. The atmosphere turned tense, everyone preparing for the upcoming battle.

In his heart, Gray felt both admiration and a bit of worry. This battle would be a test for all of them.
