Chapter 80 Three-on-Three
80 Three-on-Three
"D-D-Dean Snowcrest aren't we perhaps rushing things a bit too much?"
"Dean, If I may be so presumptuous, I don't think Crowley is ready at all!"
The conservative instructors immediately voiced their disagreements but Dean Snowcrest didn't listen to them.
He chose to trust his instincts that perhaps, Crowley could pull out a miracle again.
Instructor Fienna smiled but she didn't say anything because she also believed that her student could do something about the current situation.
Meanwhile, back in the academy, everyone went nuts when Shye started to walk up the stage.
The crowd, who were watching the match through a huge holographic screen, couldn't believe what was happening.
They asked the instructors for an explanation regarding this decision by the dean but unfortunately, even the instructors couldn't explain why Dean Snowcrest made this decision.
To clear up the confusion, Dean Privett was forced to spend a precious long-distance communication crystal to ask for an explanation from Dean Snowcrest.
*BANG*
"Despicable!"
The other two deans were shocked, the usually calm and collected Dean Privett lost her nerve after talking to Dean Snowcrest.
She then proceeded to explain to the other deans why Dean Snowcrest made such a decision. Nôv(el)B\\jnn
*BANG*
As expected, the two other deans, Dean Gaston Shadowvale and Dean Luster Vanz slammed their armrests in fury.
The Shadowglade Academy couldn't accept the fact that they were about to lose so they did something to one of the members participating in the three-on-three match.
Unfortunately, they were far away from the competition so they couldn't do anything but gnash their teeth in anger as they watched their most talented first-year student walk up the stage to fight against the top fourth-year students of their rival academy.
Of course, the instructors started asking the deans for an explanation regarding what was happening so Dean Privett explained to them why.
Upon learning why Dean Snowcrest decided to let Shye participate, they were infuriated. They couldn't believe that the Shadowglade Academy would stoop so low as to kidnap one of their fourth-year students.
The deans ordered the instructors to keep the reason a secret but unfortunately, the crowd was too persistent and kept asking the instructors about the reason.
Finally, one instructor couldn't help it and told the reason to one of his favorite students so whispers regarding the reason started to spread like wildfire, and in just a few minutes, every student clenched their fists in indignation.
They then started to root for Shye and hoped that the three chosen representatives for the fourth match would be able to teach this dirty Shadowglade Academy a lesson.
On the other hand, Maia was jumping up and down in excitement after seeing that her big brother had been chosen to participate in the fourth match.
She didn't care about the reason or anything complicated like that, as long as she could watch her big brother fight, she was happy.
Meanwhile, on the stage, Shye was taking deep breaths to calm himself down.
He was completely caught off guard by the sudden change of plans but he knew he had to step up as the substitute representative.
He realized that Fazzio had been gone for way too long and that he wasn't coming back until the match was over.
However, Shye believed that Dean Snowcrest made the right decision by letting him participate in the three-on-three battle because the substitute representative of the Shadowglade Academy was their top third-year student.
He knew that it would be harder for him to win in a one-on-one battle against a top-tier third-year student than to make a contribution in the three-on-three match to help his team win.
If he could effectively fight with his team and go out with a one-for-one trade, he was sure that his senior, Shin Fernandez, would finish the job for Colzen Academy.
Due to Shye participating in the fourth match as a first-year student, their match garnered lots of attention.
The companion students from other academies, the professional adventurers, and the ordinary rich folks who decided to watch the tournament for fun tuned in to their match with intrigue.
Even the City Lord of Valenzia City watched their match with interest as he pondered about the reason why Colzen Academy decided to let a first-year student participate in the all-important fourth-round match.
Finally, under thousands of eyes, the fourth match began.
Shye stood in front together with Ren Beckmann while Shin Fernandez stood at the back. In contrast, the opponents had chosen one warrior, one scout, and one priest for their lineup.
The two teams stared at each other with focused eyes when suddenly, Ren Beckmann disappeared and then reappeared behind the enemy priest.
However, the priest didn't seem bothered at all as if he was already expecting it so he simply focused on casting a team buff skill that would help his team.
*CLANG*
Two daggers clashed as the enemy scout suddenly appeared in front of Ren to block his attack and protect his teammate who was casting team buff skills.
Meanwhile, Shye and the Shadowglade Academy's warrior representative stood protectively in front of their teammates.
Shye protected Shin while he was shooting arrows towards the enemies and similarly, the opposing warrior deflected Shin's arrows while waiting for the buffs.
Finally, a huge change happened once the priest finished casting the buff skills.
The warrior who was protecting the priest suddenly charged towards Shin with unbelievable speed.
Unexpectedly, Shin didn't even pay attention to him.
He continued focusing on taking down the priest together with Ren while fully trusting Shye, a first-year warrior student to protect him.
He didn't expect Shye to win. In fact, he expected Shye to get beat up by the opposing warrior, however, what he believed in was, that Shye would do his best to do his job as a warrior and protect him.
Of course, Shye didn't let him down. He already knew he couldn't win so his final goal was to go out in a blaze of glory and take one opponent down with him.
Shye charged toward the warrior student and immediately activated [Power Slash Lv.2] to try and block the enemy's attack.
*CLANG*
"Puhahh!"
Unfortunately, Shye was sent sliding backward while spitting out blood after just one clash against the Shadowglade warrior representative.
