Flashy Adventurer System : Show Off to Get Stronger!

Chapter 40: News About Their Parents

Chapter 40: News About Their Parents

Shye looked at the Nightbringer with sparkling eyes. After purchasing his first set of armor, window shopping for equipment became his beloved hobby.

During the past five months, he focused on increasing his strength so he didn't get the chance to improve his equipment and now, the equipment enthusiast, Shye, was given a sick-looking weapon which he had no chance of obtaining anytime soon.

He was practically inwardly jumping up and down in excitement and happiness as he took the Nightbringer from Dean Snowcrest with shaking hands.

"T-Thank you for your trust, Dean Snowcrest. I, Shye Crowley, promise to not let down Colzen Adventurer Academy in the competition three years from now."

Shye wasn't the type to make promises like this but his mind wasn't clear at the moment due to how excited he was so he unconsciously blurted out a guarantee to Dean Snowcrest.

After hearing Shye's guarantee, a wide smile appeared on Dean Snowcrest's face. He had high expectations for this talented guy and he would do everything to groom him to the best of his abilities.

During the past competitions, Colzen Adventurer Academy always failed to get out of the group stages.

It has been two decades since they last managed to get into the top 64 in the region rankings and even then, they immediately lost the first match.

Due to this, the budget provided to them by the World Adventurer Association is slowly getting smaller and smaller which makes it harder and harder for them to make a comeback.

Similarly, the top ten adventurer academies of the region have always been consistent so their budgets aren't changing that much which lets them cement their top position for decades.

But this year, the four deans of Colzen Adventurer Academy had high hopes of not only making it to the top 64 but also possibly making it into the top 16.

This is because the Colzen Monastery managed to obtain a genius freshman priestess which gave them a bit of hope.

But they knew that a genius freshman priestess alone wouldn't be able to carry them throughout the entire Adventurer Academy Competition.

Fortunately, the recent batch of freshman students from all courses gave them lots of pleasant surprises.

For the mage course, there were two rival mages David Houdini and Harry Copperfield.

Next, for the scout course, there was the unexpected dark horse, Ian Izanagi who defeated both the top 1 and top 2 scouts.

As for the archer class, the top 1 archer, Kiin Wujin, destroyed the other classes by himself.

Lastly, for the warrior class, Siegfried Lionheart was one of the most talented warriors to ever grace Colzen Adventurer Academy and of course, the guy who defeated him, Shye Crowley, was probably the most talented and mysterious dark horse in the history of the academy.

With this lineup, Colzen Adventurer Academy had the strongest batch of freshmen in the entire history of the academy which made them hope for a higher ranking.

Three years from now, they hoped that their academy would finally make waves in the region.

After their agenda with the dean, Shye and Instructor Fienna turned around to leave the office but just as Shye reached the door, Dean Snowcrest stopped them.

"Wait! I have wanted to ask since earlier but...Are you related to the diamond-ranked Crowley couple who went missing four and a half years ago?"

Shye's pupils constricted after hearing about his parents. Although his heart has been healing steadily during the past four and a half years, there's still a part of him that longs for his parents.

Hearing about them today, he couldn't help but become agitated. Missing? Weren't they confirmed to be dead already?

He was confused but he started to have some hope that his parents were alive.

"Yes! I'm their son! Do you have any news or at least a clue about what happened to them?"

Shye asked Dean Snowcrest with a desperate look.

Dean Snowcrest and Instructor Fienna looked at each other before shaking their heads. The dean looked deeply at Shye and said

"Now is not the time to tell you, trust me on this one. Continue to grow stronger and once the time is right, I shall tell you what I know."

Shye clenched his fists after hearing Dean Snowcrest's reply. He wanted to be angry at them but he knew that they were correct and he was still too weak and inexperienced to accomplish anything.

Thus, Shye vowed to do everything to improve as much as possible in the next four years.
