Chapter 253: Skill Experiment Success!
As warm rays of sunlight caressed Shye's eyelids, he slowly woke up, gently stretching his limbs and yawning as he groggily sat up.
Luckily, these adventurers didn't harbor any sinister plans.
Looking around, Shye saw that two adventurer parties seemed to have woken up earlier than him and were already packing up to continue their quests.
On the other hand, the other adventurer party and the self-proclaimed party leader beside him were still out like a log.
The lass even had a stupid smile on her face as she slept serenely.
'How the heck can one sleep so peacefully inside an adventurer zone?' he mused, inwardly reprimanding Seira.
With how she operated inside the Drokka Advanced Adventurer Zone, one would truly wonder how the heck this seemingly naive young woman was still alive.
Shrugging off his shallow frustrations, Shye stood up and prepared a hearty breakfast using Haemotoxin Viper meat.
According to the Adventurer Encyclopedia, not only was Haemotoxin Viper meat not poisonous, but it was even both nutritious and delectable.
As the mouth-watering smell of roasted meat seasoned with salt and pepper wafted in the air, the gluttonous grape-haired young woman finally woke up.
"Ughmm? Shye? What are you cooking?" Seira asked.
Shye didn't respond though as he simply took a huge bite of the roasted viper meat, his expression changing into one of utter bliss as a small amount of oil streamed down the corners of Shye's mouth.
Swallowing in envy, Seira forced herself to swiftly stand up and walk towards Shye with a slight scowl on her face.
"Hmmph! How selfish! You didn't even wake me up! Were you planning on enjoying all of these…these yummy…roasted viper meat all by yourself?!" exclaimed Seira in annoyance, taking one huge piece for herself and quickly stuffing it in her mouth.
As her teeth sunk into the supple and juicy roasted meat, all the negative emotions in her heart promptly scattered to the four winds, vastly improving her mood as the meat's savory aroma and heavenly flavor assaulted her senses.
After enjoying their morning meal for a few minutes, Shye and Seira packed up, resuming their hunt for Haemotoxin vipers immediately after.
Returning to the area where they managed to hunt four vipers yesterday, Shye grasped his gold-tier elemental staff, eager to try out another concept.
Unfortunately, even after looking for almost an hour, they didn't encounter a single Haemotoxin Viper.
"Haaah…where could those vipers be? Weren't there quite a few in this area yesterday?" Seira sighed with a disappointed expression before continuing to walk while looking in every direction possible in hopes of spotting one. "Oh well, I guess we just have to walk deeper into the forest."
And so, the two of them did.
It proved to be effective as just another hour later, two vipers unexpectedly launched an attack from the nearby shrubs, nearly succeeding in their ambush.
"Shye!" Seira exclaimed with a touch of concern after narrowly evading the strike of one of the Haemotoxin Vipers.
Glancing in Shye's direction, she saw that he was safe and sound, allowing her to breathe a sigh of relief.
After four easy encounters yesterday, the two of them subconsciously started to underestimate the fragile vipers, forgetting the fact that their venom was their most deadly weapon.
One bite and their flesh would turn into puddles over the course of two hours.
Regarding Shye, while he skillfully evaded the viper's ambush even more seamlessly than Seira, he achieved it by using [Swallow Step Lv.1].
"I'm fine," Shye replied, feeling lucky that Seira didn't see what he just did to evade the sneaky strike.
Being a warrior, Shye was accustomed to using either [Swallow Step Lv.1] for straightforward evasions or [Dash Lv.4] to evade area-of-effect attacks.
Employing the mage skill, [Blink Lv.2], didn't even cross his mind.
'Crap! That was close…gotta use blink next time…'
Now that the sneaky vipers were in front of them, the little fragile bastards stood no chance.
Waving his elemental staff and aiming it towards the viper who attacked him, Shye tried the new idea in his mind.
'Icicle Spear!'
Sharp pieces of ice materialized one after the other, immediately shooting toward the snake, who barely managed to dodge the first two icicle spears before being ripped apart by the subsequent three.
Shye easily defeated the viper, however, there was no trace of happiness on his face.
'Hmm…if the skill immediately starts shooting…then how can I boost it?' he pondered, looking deeply lost in his own thoughts.
"Shye? What's wrong? Were you bitten? Are you dying?" Seira asked, aiming to piss Shye off again.
Unfortunately, Shye was too deep in thought so her attempts were simply ignored.
The two of them continued walking, however, Shye was absentminded as he followed Seira.
A few minutes later…
"I got it!!" Shye suddenly exclaimed, making Seira jump up in fright.
"Hey! Don't just shout like that! Phew…you scared me!" Seira angrily said. "You got what?"
"Hehehe let me handle the next viper, I'll show you." Shye chuckled confidently, excited to encounter another Haemotoxin Viper.
Luckily, it didn't take them long to discover another one, concealed beneath the foliage, under the impression that the two humans ahead of it were still unaware of its presence.
"Seira, watch and learn! Big Brother Shye will show you how it's done!" He boasted, once again aiming his staff towards the viper who remained still, basically acting like a practice dummy for Shye's new idea.
"Hmmph! Big Brother my butt! I'm older than you so you should be calling me big sis Seira!" retorted Seira as she keenly observed Shye's subsequent actions.
'Icicle Spear!'
Promptly after thinking of the skill's name, five icicle spears materialized, shooting straight towards the viper.
'Boost'
He then looked at the flying icicle spears and used one charge of his rare skill, [Boost Lv.1].
Shockingly, just when the sharp projectiles were about to hit the hiding Haemotoxin Viper, one of the five spears suddenly grew larger, decimating not only the viper but also the ground beneath.
A short while later, the boosted Icicle Spear suddenly exploded, sending sharp shards of ice hurtling in every direction, unintentionally killing another viper who was hiding on top of a young oak tree.
'Holy..sh–'
