Chapter 147: Dismantled
Kiin and Ian instantly noticed Shye who was in a rare bad mood.
As his close friends, they had the sudden urge to piss him off even more. However, this was Shye they were talking about.
The guy was so easygoing that it was hard to legitimately anger him, making them shudder at the thought of Shye redirecting his anger toward them.
Thus, after a silent consensus, the two of them decided to not go through with their plan lest they suffer the consequences.
After an unusually silent walk with no one talking, the Colzen representatives arrived at Small Arena 7, where their opponents, the Orion Academy representatives, were looking at them with mocking smiles on the other side of the arena.
Meanwhile, the crowd was hyped.
They knew that there was bad blood between these two academies so although they were both known to be fairly mediocre, there were a lot of people who tuned in to their match.
"Oohh, this will be one spicy match!"
"I saw Colzen's match earlier, I think they will win this time around…"
"You're joking, right? Let me give you guys some insider information. This batch of Orion Academy representatives is the best they had in two decades! There's no way Colzen will win!"
Again, people took sides. Some of them watched how Orion Academy won, while some, Colzen.
Thus, with a few friendly arguments here and there, the atmosphere changed into one of fiery competition, slowly garnering more and more attention from the other audiences including professional adventurers who are here to scout out some potential prospects.
Both sides were confident so it would all come down to actual skill and preparation.
Speaking of preparation, Colzen Academy took quite a bit of time to prepare for this match, only, the other representatives didn't expect that their plans would be thrown out the window in the next second as an irked Shye Crowley suddenly jumped up the stage and quickly drew one of his blades, the Darkripper.
The initial plan was to have Ian Izanagi go first, however, just when Kiin was about to speak, Ian stopped him with a grin on his face.
"Let him, don't you want to see him fight when he's angry? I'd like to watch this. Anyway, just let me fight the second match against that so-called strongest representative. The bastard is extremely good at fighting other scouts, they say? Let me test that."
Seeing that Ian was fired up as well, Kiin simply shrugged his shoulders, deciding to throw their plan out the window.
Glittering sparks surrounded Shye's Darkripper, threatening to zap anyone who dared to stand in its way as purple-colored lightning snaked all over the blades of the greatsword.
Meanwhile, on Orion Academy's side, it seems that the representatives were arguing since one of them wanted to throw their plan out the window as well.
After a warning from the referee, the one rebelling to go onstage first, Jefferson Grayleaf, finally convinced the others to let him fight first.
The flames of passion were ignited in his heart upon seeing that the opponent was a rare greatsword user, meaning that he would get to fight a burst-type warrior in a competition of pure raw strength to see who would come out on top.
Excited and enthusiastic, Jefferson jumped up the stage and drew out his enormous and heavy-looking Warhammer, looking extremely menacing and destructive.
Shye didn't care one bit about him though, as he simply looked at Jefferson with a cold look, imagining him to be the arrogant Aslan representative he met earlier.
"Begin!"
Like two wild beasts pouncing on each other in a battle for survival, the two warriors immediately opened up with a [Dash Lv.3] followed by a [Power Smash Lv.3] for Jefferson while Shye used [Power Slash Lv.4] to engage in a heated frontal clash in the middle of the stage, prompting the audience stand up in excitement after witnessing such a blazing start.
*CLANG*
The results were even spicier as one warrior was completely overwhelmed in terms of strength, spitting out blood in disbelief while sliding backward in an attempt to stabilize his footing.
After a clash between Warhammer and Greatsword, it was the Warhammer user, Jefferson, who was sent sliding back, still struggling to process what happened.
His lack of focus became the start of his immediate downfall though as the ruthless and angry Shye Crowley, immediately followed up with [Rush Stab Lv.3].
Just when Jefferson was about to stabilize his footing, the tip of Shye's greatsword sunk deep into his abdomen, mercilessly skewering him to the edge of the stage, as he spat out alarming volumes of blood.
"Jefferson!"
The Orion representatives couldn't believe what they were seeing. Jefferson wasn't the best when it came to dueling but they were sure as hell that he was the strongest when it came to raw strength.
Seeing him lose like this in a head-on battle gnawed at their morale.
Without even letting Jefferson recover, Shye used two charges of [Boost] on his right foot and stomp-kicked on the poor guy's chest, making it slightly cave in as Jefferson flew through the air, landing on the ground a few meters away from the stage, conscious but incapacitated.
"JEFF!"
The Orion representatives immediately rushed towards Jefferson's side and gave him three greater health potions from their own pockets just so he could survive until the medical staff arrived at his side.
As for Shye, the cold look on his face was replaced by a satisfied and happy smile as he jumped down from the stage, imagining that he just demolished the guy from Aslan Academy making his anger vanish into thin air.
[Congratulations! You've earned 7000 points!]
His mood was further improved after seeing that he earned 7000 points in one go.
'Ahhh that felt great!' Shye inwardly thought as he returned to his ringside seat.
"Senior Crowley!!!"
"Senior Crowley is mighty!!"
The companion students cheered their lungs out after witnessing how Shye methodically but destructively dismantled his opponent in a frontal clash, his prowess laid bare for everyone to see.
Even the people in the crowd who rooted for Orion Academy wavered after seeing how much of a menace Shye was.
As for the crazy ones who bet on Colzen making it to the top 8, they were ecstatic. At this rate, they might actually become rich!
"You sure know how to show off!" Ian said as he stood up and gave Shye a fist bump with a smile on his face.
"Hahaha! My bad for ruining the plan, I just had to vent."
"No worries, I want to test this so-called strongest representative as well so I did like the change in plans. Well then, off I go." Izanagi said as he jumped up the stage, excited to test his mettle against Andrew Forthsky, Orion's strongest representative.
