Chapter 116: Bull-Lizard Airlines
"Hey! Throwing someone is rude you kn-" Wendy couldn't help but complain after being thrown to the side like some sort of garbage.
However, upon realizing the dangerous situation her teammate was in, she stopped speaking and closely observed the battle while hiding in the safety of the bushes.
She then remembered that Shye said something to her about figuring out what to do.
'What do you expect me, a priestess, to do in this situation?' Wendy slightly complained with a confused expression on her face.
She was quite irked at Shye but upon seeing him put his life on the line fearlessly for a chance to get both of them out of this dangerous situation, she couldn't bring herself to be mad at him anymore.
Thus, she decided to focus on their battle and try to figure out how to help Shye while safely observing them from a distance.
The Bull-Lizard finally charged toward Shye after a long wind-up, aiming to skewer and kill the hateful human with one powerful charge.
As for Shye, the hateful human, he had just seen this massive creature put on the brakes earlier which seemed to defy the laws of inertia.
He knew that he couldn't bait this thing to charge towards its death by normally dodging with a quick sidestep, thus, he had to be a bit creative.
*SHING*
Meanwhile, Wendy tried to do whatever she could as she gave Shye strength and agility buffs again, lasting for forty seconds.
Although this set of buffs wasn't as strong as usual due to the long-range casting instead of [Contact Casting], it was still better than nothing.
Shye knew that it would be a death wish to confront this thing's charge so he quickly used his life-saving skill, [Dash Lv.3], to safely dodge the creature's charge.
However, as expected, after the creature activated its inertia-defying brakes, its massive body miraculously came to a complete stop right at the edge of the cliff, preventing it from falling to its death.
Naturally, Shye wouldn't allow the Hellspawn Bull-Lizard to charge at him again so immediately used [Pierce Lunge Lv.1], swiftly lunging forward to return right in front of the massive creature.
Fighting the Bull-Lizard in close combat might be dangerous due to its overwhelming strength attribute.
Suffering one clean hit from its ridiculously strong and tough head would either mean a grievous wound or outright death but it was his best course of action.
Even his [Power Slash Lv.3] along with two charges of [Boost] wasn't enough to fight against the creature's full-powered charge so close combat seemed to be his only option.
As expected, his [Pierce Lunge Lv.1], being a low-leveled skill, didn't even pierce the skin of the creature, however, he at least achieved his goal of instantly closing the gap between him and the bipedaled lizard, disabling its charge attack.
Now, here comes the hard part.
He had to stall this thing without getting blown away until Wendy figured out what to do.
Fortunately for him, Wendy, with a high intelligence and wisdom attribute value, instantly realized what he was aiming for, thus, she started to sneakily move around the battlefield and started the execution of their plan.
Shye however, had no time to glance around.
He had no way of knowing if Wendy was already on the move so he could only hope that she would be able to accomplish her job before this horned behemoth rips him apart.
After narrowly dodging the creature's maw, Shye used [Destructive Chop Lv.3] and chopped viciously at the creature's neck, optimistically aiming to separate it from the body.
*SPURT*
His greatswords did manage to chop through the skin of the neck, however, that's all it did, nothing but a shallow cut.
He was then sent flying by a ruthless tail-swipe attack from the massive creature, spitting out blood and breaking quite a few rib cages as he landed on his back with a thud.
If not for the damage sustained by the Bull-Lizard's tail earlier, he might've died right then and there.
Shye struggled to stand up as the creature walked closer and closer, its jaws wide open, ready to shred him into little pieces of meat.
Fortunately, a timely long-range [Heal Lv.3] from Wendy, though not enough to fully heal him, allowed him to stand up on time.
He then quickly got out of the way by rolling backward, narrowly avoiding another close brush with the grim reaper.
Still, he only avoided death temporarily.
The dangerous creature was still rampaging right in front of him- his only option: focus on surviving and hope for the best.
'Crap, that was way too close...' Shye thought to himself as he quickly assumed a defensive battle stance.
When the creature opened its maw to bite down on him again, Shye desperately dived to save his little life, but unfortunately for him, although he managed to dodge the massive creature's frightening jaw, the tail-swipe attack was already in motion.
Although he managed to dodge the bite, dodging the tail-swipe attack was physically impossible.
*SHING*
Luckily, a timely thinner-than-usual barrier from Wendy suddenly appeared and protected him.
Although it was immediately destroyed by the tail swipe attack, it still managed to weaken the blow allowing Shye to tank the remaining damage using his skill, [Stoic Lv.3]
"Puhaahkk"
Shye spat out alarming volumes of blood as he valiantly held his ground in front of the Hellspawn Bull-Lizard akin to a brave little soul courageously staring death in the eye.
Heroic as he may be, Shye only had one available skill left along with one recently replenished charge of [Boost].
His last available skill, [Draconian Roar Lv.1], had a very limited range, however, with how close he was to the massive creature right now, Shye was sure that this skill would hit its target.
'This is my last card so you better be there...Wendy!!!'
*ROOOOOAAAAAAAR*
A [Boost] empowered deafening roar which resembled those of dragons reverberated right beside the Bull-Lizard's ear making it scared and confused, trepidation evident in its eyes, giving Shye a few precious seconds of survival.
Then, just when the effect of the skill was about to run out...
*BANG*
For the first time in its entire life, the massive creature felt its feet leave the ground as it was sent flying like a massive leathery baseball after getting hit by Wendy's [Contact Casting]-empowered [Knockback Lv.3].
*ROOOAAAR*
The creature roared in hatred and defiance as its enormous body flew through the air, fell down the cliff, and hit the ground with a resounding thud, ending the dangerous creature's life once and for all.
After enthusiastically watching the Hellspawn Bull-Lizard Airlines soar to the skies, Shye and Wendy looked at each other before giving each other another thumbs-up for a job well done.
This time, their teamwork was flawless allowing them to survive a disaster that would've surely ended both of their lives.
